I read that there was a way to remove the limits on the map size, how is this possible?

Get this mod from the workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=405810376

enable it in game.

As soon as you unlock the final milestone, you'll have all 25 tiles available for purchase.

If you don't want to wait to reach the last milestone, you can enable the 'unlock all' mod, that comes with the game.

Wasn't he talking about the map in general, not the purchasable tiles? Currently your map can be 100km² at the most ( = 25 tiles), I wonder if some keen modder will find a way to increase this number :D

upper limit is hardcoded yes.

Don't think it's too much of an issue though. The 100km² buildable area in the 324km² total map is already more than current hardware can handle (unless you're really spreading out little hamlets all over the place).

In SC4 I made a map that has terraformer 2880 km². I have virtually a country. What're preventing me from playing this skyline is this: today I'm in this to make a whole country, and not to play a city only.

This is good news.

I don't foresee any performance issues with this, just like the concerns people had with unlocking all 25 tiles (which proved to be unfounded) because that terrain is already there. Everything on it is already being simulated as is, so it's already straining your performance as much as it ever will.

The main benefit I see to unlocking that border area though is not necessarily for expanding your city, since you will likely run into the population and maximum building limit before you even fill up the original 25 tiles.

But mostly I want this to give me access to the edge of the map and possibly allow you to move and add extra neighbor connections once you already have a city running.

As it is, you add your 4 connections in the map editor but once you start a city they are pretty much permanent. Even if the 4 connection limit is raised you can't add any more or move them somewhere else because you don't have access to the edge of the map.

This would possibly fix this, allowing you to add more connections as your city grows or move them somewhere else to a better position.

It looks like 81 tiles might be possible after all, and coming sooner rather than later:

I said it even before the game was released... Someone WILL come with a 81 tiles mod.

I find myself struggling to keep up with the new mods lately. Things are moving so fast. And what's this about the tree limit mod being uploaded? When did that happen?

I'm moving at a snail's pace as usual. I just crossed the river to my 2nd tile. It would take me about a year or more to develop a 81 tile map.

Talk about good life expectancy for a game...

At the minute a 9x9 mod will be released people will start testing it... See that cloud in the distance ??? It's the smoke of machines burning.

(kidding... It might give a strain on performance but not that much).

I guess as long as we don't try to fill the entire region with sky scrapers and highways it shouldn't be so bad. Most of the map for me would be rural with cities concentrated on no more than 30-40%.

Guy as I answer we are at the exact same post count.

9*9 maps would be awesome... but what I would build with that is a whole neighborhood, from high rises and sky-ers to rural and suburbs... real life.
