I hadn't seen one started yet, so I figured I'd start this thread (unless someone already started one and the mods deleted it....I hope not  :) ) I think this thread will be a good place to post things you come across, either in-game quirks or things that seem a little....off. Anything you notice and want our wonderful community modders to fix down the road....put them here too!

I'll start. I bought the game today like so many others, and noticed a few things in-game. I've got a few screenshots below:

1. I noticed there's really no rhyme or reason for placement of handicap spots in parking lots. I do not know if these handicap symbolys are randomly generated into spots or what, but it just seems a little wierd that the handicap have to park as far away from a building entrance as possible  :ooh: . Is this something that is fixable in the asset editor or is this more of a code thing?

2. I've noticed cars (specifically the one cop car I followed) don't stop for pedestrians at crosswalks. They also run through other cars that are turning (as if it's not there). I don't have a picture of this, but follow a car for long enough and you'll see it.

3. It seems that street signs are "invisible" i.e cars will run through them.

4. Pedestrians (at least in my city) walk reaaaallllyyyyy far. Like....across town to work. I'm all for avoiding traffic, but it seemed a bit peculiar. I've got some of the fittest pedestrians in the Skylines world! :D

5. I don't have the slightest clue what this thing is. In-game robot? Charging station? If so, it seems an odd place to install one.

Just a few things I've noticed and wanted to give a heads up about. These are not gameplay issues as far as I can tell, just things that could be fixed with mods. Take a look at your city and see what you come across!  :)

1. The setup with 2 regular parking spots and 1 handicapped is a standard prop from the asset editor. After it's plopped the functional parking spots are plopped over it separately. So it's just a visual thing.

2. They've already been patched to try to avoid pedestrians more. Guess it's still not perfect.

3. Appears so. Only seems to happen with long trucks though. I for one like that they actually made the trucks articulate instead of being a solid box. Guess this is one of the drawbacks.

4. I like that they walk a lot. In fact, I make it a point to include pedestrian paths all over my town giving shortcuts (to make it a bit more realistic), especially near bus stops.

5. Can't help you there. Maybe look it up in the asset editor?

I bought the game yesterday and downloaded it.  I have a Toshiba laptop computer (2013 vintage) that appears to meet the minimum hardware requirements to run the game, but it is far from optimal for games that push the hardware.  The game ran for awhile, but a bit slow.  After about 45 minutes to an hour, it crashed.  I lost much of the work I had done.  Also, while using it, the movement with my mouse was a bit sluggish.  I actually like the game itself, especially as I slowly master navigation on the map with the use of my mouse and movement keys.

I will see about changing some of the settings to reduce some of load off of the graphics.  When I play again, I will save often this time, in case I get another crash.  Also, I am hoping that there are some software patches that come out that make the game run a bit smoother on my hardware.

Finally, I realize I am stuck with the built-in graphics card that is part of the laptop.  However, the laptop has 4 GB of RAM, but is upgradable to 8 GB of RAM.  Would increasing the RAM help with improving program performance as much as an improved graphics card?

I'm no tech expert, but I'm going to say upgrading the RAM will help (it won't hurt, anyways). When you are running C:S, take a look at the Task Manager on your computer and see how much of your total RAM C:S is taking up. If you're pushing it, then upgrade. Also, since you are using a laptop....it may be an issue with the settings on your graphics card. Click that and scroll down. Try the suggested settings changes and see what happens. Good luck! :)

My laptop has a Radeon GPU that has a product number well above the minimum specified to run Cities Skylines I never realized that there was setting buried in Windows that would override the "default" integrated graphics processor. Since I don't run many games on my laptop, that has never been an issue for me. Besides checking my memory usage, I will follow the advice in the form thread above as well as what I have found elsewhere, in order to see if I can change the graphic settings and improve the performance. I will post here what what my results are.

Is anyone else having problems with trains? I can't seem to set the lines properly, when I select the second station everything seems to go wrong unless I go back to the first station and end the line. It lets me place the stops, but the routes never show correctly and the trains don't run as intended.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

The only major issues I have is actually similar to those I have with CIM2.

The main menu, when loading, doesn't display correctly. I actually can't read it, but do see entries, and once I get the game going, everything loads fine.

The second thing, is that after a few hours, the game seems to bog down, and I have to save an quit, lest I get the spinning beachball of death, like I do in CIM2.

I played C.S. for about 30 min this evening, and it didn't crash until just after I had saved it and gotten out of it. Have an extra screen connected to laptop and was able to read Task Manager as I played. The Radeon graphics seemed to be working ok automtically. My 4GB of RAM was actually making available only 3.5 GB for applications. With Cities Skylines running, the memory usage was averaging 80% plus, which is pretty close to the limit, and this is with a town that is still small in size and population. I suspect upgrading to 8 GB will reduce the number of crashes and make the program run smoother and allow larger cities. I don't think this program will run very well in the long run on a 4 GB machine.

I'm running a macbook with 4GB RAM I realise I'm at the limit for running the game and that larger cities will not be possible (until I can afford to upgrade to a new computer). Things run a bit sluggish but it is at least playable! I would like the font to be larger and menu icons are also a bit small- SimCity 2013 icons were a bit too intrusive but maybe a halfway house between the two would be ideal?

    5. I don't have the slightest clue what this thing is. In-game robot? Charging station? If so, it seems an odd place to install one.

    4. Traveling distance for myself to work is close to 3km, yet I walk it back and forth daily as well :P. So personally I'm glad my cims thing likewise ;).

    5. I would think a charging station for electric cars. Not sure about where you live, but around here it's not uncommon to find them just placed on sidewalks like that.

Weird little bug my girlfriend encountered yesterday was trucks at the train station to simply fly away towards after she removed part of the connecting road. Didn't grab a picture of it though :P.

Yeah, he ran over several pedestrians on the way to this crime scene and then smashed the perp's car.  He did use his turn signals, however, and also slowed down for a van that cut him off at an intersection.

Here's another one.  I'm playing around with graphics settings with a FPS mod trying to figure out my most optimal balance between detail and frame rate given some different viewing scenarios.  Understandably, turning shadows off entirely yields a FPS boost.  What I don't understand, is that in several situations I've tested, setting shadows to medium actually yields better performance than setting it to low does.  Not all the time, but I want to say almost half.  And sometimes it's a significant difference.

Also, buses can't turn around on a road with a median.  Not sure if this is really a bug...although if they can U-turn at the end of a 2-lane they ought to be able to do so on anything else.

I posted earlier in this thread with crashing issues.  Over the weekend, I bought 4 GB of RAM to add to the 4 GB my laptop already had.  It made a big difference, operation smoother, faster, no more crashes so far.  Memory cost me less than $40 and took me 10 min to install.  I recommend anybody with 4 GB who wants to play this game to buy more memory.

Something else to go with the need for better slope control - I was surprised when it let me fit this road underneath the bridge.

For those unfamiliar, this is called a "can opener":

Found this today - I had never worked in this area before but for some reason there are some "hard-coded" zoning squares that don't change or go away when you place or delete a road through them.

I have my game set up with LHD but on the cargo train station the trucks enter and exit with a RHD situation. This means trucks leaving the station have to stop and pass through the trucks turning into the station - slowing down the traffic. A better option would to be to have separate entrances and exits.

You do know that after clicking on the Starting point of your line and then clicking on any stops you want - You DO have to go back and click on the ORIGINAL stop to complete the line.

I am having an issue with random residential buildings spawning as 0/0 after I plop my Uniques, Landmarks, and Monuments as of update 1.07c. I already filed a ticket with Colossal Order. I am curious, is anyone else encountering the residential 0/0 households bug? Because now it seems to be a population thresh hold issue.
