The seasonal trees are on the STEX.  PEG made them, and they are a great addition to any city.  Although, I would suggest not using too many of them in a large size city because they might cause your game or computer to freeze.

Wow, what a great road outline!  I can really tell you planned that out, and really well I might add.

thpwrthtbe that's a very cool layout. How on earth are you going to fit any large buildings in the outer ring though3.gif Or is it a large map?

It is a large map.   and the central downtown is quite small. i may have to resize it, although that would be a great hassle, ill just make another map.   half the fun of the game for me is just designing the city networks, i like to make my cities with symetry and geometrical designs. I place all networks and public buildings first, then zone unpause and watch it grow.   Its not realistic and ussually means i leave out water and hills, but .....to each his own.

RoddyC : I like your water tunnels a lot. But you should make the slope of your avenue that go down into the tunnel more gradual because it will look a lot better. It's easy to do this when you use the Tunnel and Slope Mod by Big Red Fish.

thpwrthtbe: All this symetrical downtown is very impressive, you should post a picture of what it looks like in city view because it's very interesting.

Oh! here is a picture of one of my busiest railroad link. The highway tunnel you see go under all the industrial disctrict and lead directly to the downtown commercial offices.

And last night I was bored and build that:
    /idealbb/files/twingle.jpg
It's completly useless but it was funny to see all the cars that drove there.

Where can I find that mod? I've searched my ass off and I don't see it anywhere.

And yeah, those buses are available on the STEX. I've got lots of them. It's cool that you can have such a variety of different buses without overwriting the original. 3.gif

    Hey Dr. Neitchskrimfrauwnmoya:

(Wow, that's a mouthful!) Did you get that cool city bus on the STEX?
    quote>

No, it was from Sim City Central.
Go check it out! The one I use is named Standard Striped Bus (Blue and Red)by Oppie

    EDIT:

RoddyC, you can get the file from a thread in the mods forums I think but I'm not sure. If you PM me with your mail adress I can send you the file if you want.

OK,  ive edited my post above.  This grid layout isnt perfect becuse it sometimes hard to decide on a particular design, or i may find a better solution by the time i get to the other side of the map.  I like to have my cake and eat it too, so i usually leave in diifering networks ideas, heres what im mean
this is one of four cloverleaf intersections.
    /idealbb/files/clover
they are all a little different because i cant decide which i like better.  maybe traffic will let me know once the simulation starts.
    /idealbb/files/cloverleaf
each city is deifferent of course, sometimes i like to work out a grid with certain zoning patterns, or in the case of this city i just make it up as i go, the overall network is symetrical but individual problem solving is left open:
    /idealbb/files/grid

    /idealbb/files/grid
    the possibilities are endless.

i hope these arent too big... hosted off site... here are some pics from my philly region... this region has no mass transportation at all... exfcept for a small elevated rail where i experimented with the embankment in one part. 2,100,000 people... all using cars! most highways through here are maxed at 65,353.
Independence Hall in the middle of downtown:

Not too concentrated, but the Downtown loop took forever to create, as it had to be done in stages: Outlining, Sinking, Waaling in, Constructing the interchanges, and such.

These aren't too special, but they're some of my earlier experiments.  If you know Detroit at all, you probably recognize the inspiration here.

    /idealbb/files/Overview10.jpg
This is the downtown area overall.  You can see the freeway transition into an avenue through downtown and then back to a freeway again.
    /idealbb/files/JLA.jpg
Here's a closer look at the tunnel going under the arena.
    /idealbb/files/BridgeTunnel1.jpg
A closer look at the other side of town with the bridges and interchanges.
    /idealbb/files/Sunken
And finally, the first sunken freeway I actually put into use.  It would look better with retaining walls, but I'm just happy with the way the overpasses turned out.

Oh my gosh! It's Jefferson where it goes under Cobo Hall!! That just rocks!!

Also, I'm very impressed with those overpasses! If only I had that kind of mastery with the level tool.

This is a bit proof of concept, but getting the MassPike fairly close is a key part of my city. This is the funky Exit 6 on the masspike where I-291 connects to the turnpike. Since the pike is tolled, it can't connect directly, and it happens that the alignment of I-291 continues on as Burnett Road in Chicopee (which is the avenue). Note the small one-way stub to let MassPike traffic avoid the stoplight. If I could do this as a trumpet, I would, but I can't, alas. With a little bit of tweaking, it would look almost perfect.

To compare, here's the actual interchange:

You can only make ground highways in the SimCity 4 Rush Hour expansion pack.  If you don't have it, I suggest getting it.  It makes the game a lot more fun, and realistic.

My interchanges get pretty darn complicated. I use Texas-style frontage road systems exclusively in all my highway layouts. Tollways get even more complicated.

I'll post some pictures here as soon as I get some.

all that networking looks fine, very imaginative, but I tend to base my city on reality (I try, I'm too structured) I think most people that Network heavily take for granted the fact that the sims know exactly where they are going and wont get lost. Some of the networks I've seen here..... I'd be scared to drive in those cities. But you guys are great!!!
