Hey there.. quick question... is it possible to change the water color in canals? Lets say I have CALs Canals, and instead of the blue water, I want to use the muddy water from drunkapple.. is it possible to replace it?

Quick answer, no, to my knowledge all of the currently released canal sets are created using a single'piece' - meaning if you were to open them in the lot editor you would just find a single prop or model. There has been talk of creating a canal set with separate water pieces so one could swap out whatever color was available, but nothing exists yet.

.. how does it actually work?

Some tricks with texture ... some tricks with planes ... and some hope that would be interesting for some mod team!

    But unfortunately it was not!

Can-Am for example seems to be dead though still accompany the NAM package perhaps for curiosity of mod!

With a few other tricks and mods would be possible to drag a canal without worrying about leveling the ground ( variable height walls ) and too see automatos  sailing with the same effects seen at sea.

But it all would  be a bit InNAMpatible currently, so to speak, in one or another detail and thus force the installation of the canal with a folder plugins without the current NAM and just load it later.

Only this detail seems already sufficient to understand why even if I tidy up the available time to do it (And time is all I do not have much) interest in the use may not offset the tremendous work.

But anyway ... who knows maybe one day!

NOTE: I have an interesting trick with using  real canals (water game) where you can have water flow and change their appearance replacing only a texture but you would have to build channels with terraforming the land and of course could not use it in coastal cities.

If you are interested I can send a PM but with no commitment to any type of support... sorry about this! :)

Tip: Because of some characteristics in the your development the SC4 can potentially be averse to many or large animations then it is important to use renderer hardware and also that video hardware is configured perfectly. (Graphics_rules.sgr) before starting to loads them ( especially for large cities ).
