I have nother suggestion:

H=highway

O=on-ramp/off-ramp

R=road

D=highway divider

T=transition from on/off-ramp to road

lower case means that the road is under the highway

                                      HHHDHHH

                                      HHHDHHH

                                      HHOOOHH

                                      HHHOHHH

                                      HHHOHHH

                           RRRRrrrrrTrrrrrRRRR - This means that if someone can make doubled height elevated highway

                                      HHHOHHH            pieces   and/or make an on/off-ramp piece that is in the middle of the higway.

                                      HHHOHHH

                                      HHOOOHH

                                      HHHDHHH

Never heard about the MIS (Modular Interchange System)? That's part of the RHW mod!

Yes, of course. But for example in the Maxis highway T interchange there are exits in a very little space... making these exits in small places is very difficult. The MIS is for the RHW (and his textures). So...a MIS for highway interchanges in small places (with highway textures)?

A HSPR over RHW piece would be nice. It turns into monorail over RHW.

If you want an Hanging Monorail, take a look at this https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=124&threadid=106978&STARTPAGE=1&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear

If you want the Wuppertal one, just wait the developement of this project. 2.gif

Is there any chance of RHW Toll Booths in the near future or am I going to have to get creative for making a RHW into a Turnpike?

OK you guys are probably gonna throw me out for asking some really stupid questions, but... I wanna know if it is possible to actually have some roads blocked off every now and then due to maintenance issues. Maybe set up temporary detours, or have traffic down to one lane?

The BRF UrbanLegend Traffic Control Pack has a road blocker lot in it.  You have to arrange the timing manually.

I would like to propose ecoducts, that is, wildlife overpasses and underpasses. Basicly they are like ordinary over- and underpasses but have greenery as a base. Functionally they would be parks/eye candy, improving the environmental parameter.

I proposed this in the BAT thread, also, but I believe that it might be apt for the NAM, as well, even if it does not add functionality as far as communications, they are an increasingly important part of modern transportation design. Especially outside cities.

Allow us to plop the street, road, and one-way roundbounds instead of having the game automatically place them. That way, my cities based on using the dual one-way roads grid stragety won't look horrible.

aking88: A neat request, but that isn't NAM material. NAM needs to be functional, not eyecandy and cannot be a plop. But your request in the BAT room makes sense.

Loney: are you making a 3x3 intersection? (2 one-way roads with a 1 time median?). I've had this problem too and the request makes sense to me (since we have them like that for avenues).

-For the time being however, whenever you want to make this intersection, I've done workaround that may help you.

1. Uninstall the NAM.

2. Open SC4 and load your city.

3. Create your 3x3 OWR intersection

4. Save and quit

5. Reinstall the NAM

...And the next time you start up, the intersection will stick. Just be careful not to redraw it or it will once again look like a glitched OWR roundabout.

Anyways hope this helps!

NAMS great, but I find I'm always missing puzzle pieces for having different networks crossing each other.

Top of the list of 'needed' are:

Rail vs GLR in Av.

HSR vs GLR in Av.

Elrail vs GLR in Av..

(I like my GLR Avenues..)

Would also be nice to have some kind of 'terminus' piece for GLR Av's with the track ending completely (not exiting sideways etc) and reverting to a normal two lane avenue.

I requst some draggable underground ped walkways (or puzzle pices)

EDIT: There should be entry/exit points, middle serface connections, and if it's draggable, it should be able to connect to subway stations.

I think that another thing that we need are double decker puzzle pieces over roads, avenues, etc. for the monorail and BTM tracks.

Another thing - would it be possible for any of us to help you?

How about one-way streets (narrow gray ones)?

Many cities (like Chicago, where I live) have residential one-way streets, not one-way roads.

is it possible to create double decker bridges...such as cars on the bottom and subway trains/rail on the top?...or maybe cars on two levels such as the George Washington Bridge here in NYC

Also...I noticed in my own city building, a need for an elevated switch track over road...so that you can continue one track over the road...and extend another off of the road

First off, I would like to thank everyone who has had a hand in putting together the NAM throughout the years. The NAM is the ONE necessity that every SC4 player MUST have.

I do have two requests that I think would help with the functionality and aesthetics of SC4 road building. Is it possible to make a three tiered puzzle piece? For example, an elevated one way road over an elevated one way road over a ground one way road. If it is possible, I think this would help building more complex interchanges with the Maxis highway system. Here is a little Photoshopping of how the way I see it.

My last request is probably much easier to accomplish. I believe if we had a smooth diagonal-to-orthogonal puzzle piece for road networks like there is with the rail, our one-way interchanges would look much nicer. Thanks to whoever can address these issues!

I would also like to know where I can find all the textures used by the NAM, RHW and the Maxis highway because I am interested in making my own custom textures that I can share with the community.

i would say no, not possible at this time.  there's a couple technical challenges with your proposal....

-bridges with 2 types of traffic (car+rail, car+tram, etc) suffer from congestion issues, even at low usage.

-double decker car would need puzle pieces to make it functional, but the capacity of the bridge would be the same as a single deck bridge of the same network.   capacity is calculated per tile, not per path, so DD bridges would be mostly an aesthetic difference.

There is a severe lack of FAR intersections.  This is my only request at this time. =]

Unfortunately, this is not possible due to the way networks are hardwired in SC4.

A couple of el stations over roads have been created by ardecila and are available on the STEX  These are actually modeled on real life el stations in Chicago.  El lines over avenues are supported natively.
