I agree on the diagonal exit from straight highway, although I'd like to see variants where one or two of the three paths are elevated (or even all three) as well as ground highways... the first thought I had looking at it was the ramps to Pacific Highway (a non-highway-numbered relic of US 101) in downtown San Diego, where it connects to I-5... at a point where I-5 curves 45 degrees or so. (In this application, the "north" and "southeast" paths would be I-5 and the "northwest" Pac Hwy.) Effectively a ground highway continuing straight off of a curved elevated....

In Brisbane, we have special roadways closed off for buses only. These roadways also include stations called "Busway Stations".

I know its possible to make the busway part using the HOV lane mod. I am requesting that someone could make bus stations for elevated roadway, and one for ground roadway.

Some pics of bus stations:

bw_griffith1.gif

What I am thinking of is something like the standard elevated rail station, but with a roadway going through it and having buses using it. It could also be modified for ground use, or even sunken roadways.

This would, of course, require the NAM to work 4.gifquote>

Not only Brisbane has that kind of transportation system. Oberhausen, Germany has a similar kind of the thing that you explained. The only difference is: On these trails there are trams as well. but It would be a really great idea.

Here is an example of how it looks in Oberhausen:

oberhausen-neue-mitte-400.jpgquote>

A bit off topic:

Here in Brisbane, all tbe busways are built so that they can be easily converted to light rail (trams), so in the near future (10 years or so) they'll have to convert it as sometimes the busway actually gets jammed with buses.

Plus upgrading to trams would greatly increase the capacity on Brisbanes highest used bus routes and corridors.

I can see one issue with trams and buses on the same track, the trams (which go faster) would smash the buses off the road...

^ Year, I've been wanting something like that for a long time. There is already an exit ramp that transitions directly into a one way road for the elevated freeway, but there isn't currently a similiar version for the ground highway. I don't know if there is some technical problem making it impossible, or if it has just been overlooked. Anyways, I'm hoping to see that option in a future NAM release.

I am having a request for a triple deck highway for ground and elevated. But i have a hard tym finishing it. I am having a problem of pathing and modelling. And I am currently busy of making interchanges and other pieces of it. I am hoping it is included in the next nam release.

Has anyone thought of pursuing a seperate texture for a transition from diagonal streets to the various networks? Currently they have to meet the networks on a right angle, perpendicular to the grid. By changing the texture or adding a ploppable overlay to the start of the street would make it appear to blend in on the actual diagonal of the street. Does this make sense to anyone?

Edit: I found the end-around... you have to use the puzzle pieces. But they're so lengthy I have to bulldoze most of them.

I have one request, and one request only.

My biggest pet peeves have been with exit ramp choices for regular highways. While development continues on the RHW project with a customizable interchange, I didn't notice any significant additions to on/off ramps for highways. Particularly, those used on sunken highways. All of the options seem to only allow the exit ramps to connect to an existing two way or one way street that extends behind the ramp itself. Does this description make sense?

Here's an example:

hwybasic.jpg

The street begins a tile behind the ramp itself. If you try to delete the tile, the entire ramp is destroyed. My only request is a simple one-exit ramp that transitions into a street without having the one tile trailing street behind it. Just a ramp that turns into a street. Not a ramp that turns into a street that extends backwards. Does that make sense?

It would look something like this:

Real_onramps.jpg

Edit: I'm bumping this post because nobody responded. Anyone?

You mean they don't just appear? Even if I wish really, really hard?

Hmph.

I guess you're right.

I'll have to go do some recruiting. I'll assume you're on board, A.R.?

schm0: The onramps you are asking for aren't logical. You wuld have a two way road or street into a oneway onramp. There would be colliding traffic. Maybe it would work for oneways though. I'm no expert though so don't quote me.

The streets are supposed to be one way. Like I said, my photoshopping skills aren't the greatest. There is currently a puzzle piece that does something similar, but it ends at the bridge/intersection. I want one that turns directly into a one-way road without having to connect to a previously existing one... does that make sense?

Please, leave any comments on this matter here:

Could there be any possibility for a draggable dirt road mod? It would eliminate the need for those road replacement mods on STEX, which don't work properly anyway.

I'm sure that this has been asked before but this is a pretty long thread to go all the way through. Is it possible to take the standard cloverleaf interchange and make one side elevated hw and the other ground hw? I know that there's already one in the NAM but I really like the look of the cloverleaf.

How about smooth highway turns?

I am tired of using a short diagonal stretch when turning highways.

And another thing: On Speedy2005's 06/03/2007 04:18 PM post, the third map link looks positively STRANGE. Part of why I don't feel like living in a big ciudad (translate from spanish, pronounced SYOO-dahd)

I second this, hopefully it can be done in the same spirit as those great curved roads from the new NAM update

An idea on the STEX recently came up about making turning lanes where avenues and roads intersect, which would look pretty good. Also, I suggest making turning lanes at "T" intersections for avenues. There would only need to be turning lanes on 2 parts of the intersection though.

@Godzillaman: That would probably involve new puzzle pieces or some new definitions of these connections. Either way, the RUL files would have to be updated for that to work.

@Yoshi: Both ideas have been in either planning or just starting to be developed. In order for the intersections to be functional, the RUL files have to be changed/updated to accommodate the new junctions. You can't simply create textures and paths, and then expect it to work instantly. At this point, I've only seen the graphics being created for the intersection types you are asking for. No word on pathing or RUL editing yet.

Had no idea these ideas were already underway (that and the hundreds of posts are a pain in the *you know what* to look through).  I know its no cake-walk for the NAM team19.gif, but I just wanted to say keep up the great work!! 44.gif

Is it possible to mod avenues without a boulavard like in most cities.

Also, many areas in cities don't have sidewalks. Is it possible to make areas without sidewalks?

HI, First i request some underground roads / avenues, and at the surface to be only BLV for peoples with some parks and trees. Sound well. This is my vision of future of this planet. For these underground roads / avenues I also request some MT stations and interchanges. And last I request some roads from the future. Thanks. And sorry if something is wrong with my post.

These are some of my new ideas.

1: I think there should be a tool to create avenues with 4 lanes. Ones with lights just like the one in the picture.
simcitypic1.jpg

2: Lights that hang from wires (to replace the regular ones that come with the game)
simcitypic2.jpg
The lights can be set in different ways too.
