I'm really excited for this game. I just hope they get to patching the size of the farms (I think they already stated that that won't be changed for release).

New Cities: Skylines CJ -

Feel free to check out my SC4 CJ as well -

You just need Steam to log in and boot the game.

No retailer has listing for this game.

You can only order a Steam code from the official site.

It is safe to assume this game is digital only.

I have Pre-Ordered the game which is something I mostly never do. Paradox/CO have been really great at reaching out to the community on their forums, if anyone has questions regarding this game I recommend checking their forums out. :-)

I've preordered it.  I'm planning to play it on Linux (since I don't like Windows enough to boot into it just for games), but I may need a better video card than my GT210.  I'm not sure if that's more or less capable than the 8800 it recommends, but it does have 512 MB of VRAM.

By 8800 you mean the GTX8800? Thats not even close to the mininum requirements.

If your budget is sub £100 grab a GTX750 2GB VRAM, if more look for the AMD solutions since they are bargains for better performance.

Or if you find some used AMD 7950/7970 for that price range, get it.

-------------

In general I do not get the complaining about the requirements i see around.

DX11 card the game needs is 6y old tech. Appeared in 2009!!!

As for the 64bit OS, the last 32bit cpu were for Intel Pentium 4 and from AMD Athlon XP/MP. 15 years ago!!!!

Sounds like you've never used AMD video cards on Linux.  Due to their proprietary drivers' being trash, their performance will likely be worse than my current card.

And no, I don't mean GTX 8800.  As listed on their page:

Graphics: nVIDIA GeForce 8800, 512 MB RAM or ATI Radeon HD 3850, 512 MB RAM

I'm guessing that means these relics.

I was referring to exactly the same card. Forgot they were named 8800 GTS/GTX/GT. Had a GTX back in 2006. (not they are names GTX<number> back then <number>GTS/X/)

Indeed they are relics considering that the intel IGP HD4000 found in the Haswell line of i5 & i7 is as fast. And the AMD IGP A10 series is even faster. :/

Last time I tried an AMD APU with the proprietary driver under Linux, I got all sorts of weird glitches across the screen with both 3-D rendering and hardware-accelerated video playback.  Definite non-option.

I'm looking at a GeForce 740-level card on Amazon for $90.  Newegg had the same one for nearly $120!

Everyone understands that in order to play Call of Dooty  you need more than an Amiga 500. The minimum system requirements where originally based on DX9 and DX10 so there was made false hope based on promises that at least DX10 was supported. This information were not updated before the releasetrailer, so  of course you're disapointed. I just bought myself a new PS4, now I have to buy a "not entirely as equally good computer" at 3X the price... This year is unlikely...

Btw, this computer was bought in 2009 and supports DX10 only. Not everyone can/desires to buy the top notch...

The processor is not the issue. The issue is Micro$oft, who sold 32 bit software long time thereafter...

Did anyone catch the paradox stream on twitch? Should be up on youtube soon if you missed it. I want to play this game now :-).

Edit: Sorry Panos has already put the link up to a video of the stream.

When I looked at the GPU layout of the GT 210, I realized how anemic it really is.  I could only play Cities in Motion 2 on low graphics under Linux without an unusable framerate.

I have a GT 740 on the way.

I agree, MS should have killed 32bit with the W7 if not Vista.

----------------

Btw I will bring back the conversation to the track. Anyone who missed today's gameplay here are the two videos.

Well to Microsoft's defense a good amount of people are still buying PCs with 32bit processors in them.

Intel and AMD still produce 32bit processors in significant quantities.

You can go into most retailers these days here in the U.S. and easily and cheaply buy a PC with 32bit processors for $400 or less.

The  market won't move on until PCs with 64bit processors hit that price range.

Unfortunately, W7 came out 2009. Intel stopped 32bit production in 2003 and AMD in 2002.

In tech, 6 years is very long time.

To put into perspective 2006 we had quad cores that were dozens of times faster than the fastest 32bit cpu that was produced 3 years earlier!

And dual cores were dirty cheap.

I've preordered it.

Did history taught you anything, people? Pre Orders should be in list of Bible Sins. Too many times when people pre order something and they find the game not meeting the expectaions or finishing comepletely broken... I know that Paradox is not EA and the price is sweet for someone but we need to be really cautious even with this game.

I guess I just got overexcited, since this'll be the first game I've acquired in two years.

I so want this game now! CitiesXXL has just seen the extent of my patience and SC2013 was like a fart in the wind. I am sure my graphics server can handle it (16x 3.10GHz @3.97GHz with 16Gigs of sheep and a Pci-e V2.1 SCSI Ultra-320 RAID-0)

I understand you but yeah with GTA V and CSL on steam I would pre order them too, but the damage that done to industry in last 2 years is way too high.

Depends what you pre-order, knowing what you buy might not be that you want.

There are many games out there, that I wouldn't touch before they come out.

There are others I know they going to suit me well because they are either known games (Total War series) or Sid Meier games (XCOM, CIV series, BE etc).

And on this occasion, the devs communication and the videos are more than impressive compared to SC2013, which I bought two weeks after it came out, knowing it's shortcomings.

I haven't pre-ordered just yet but I probably will.  This game already appears to be much more complete than SimTown 2013.

I won't pre-order it but will give it a shot. Not too worried about getting burned as I have never bought or played the XL series games or SC2013.

I'm not real big on the cartoonish looking graphics / textures but modding usually deals with that so the core game needs to be what counts initially. I love the flexibility of the stock highways although I think the textures and how entrance / exit lanes come straight in instead like reality at an angle. The water looks like how a small pool of water would look not a large body of water, kind of unrealistic there as well. Also, I heard that commercial retail won't have jobs - that one is pretty odd. Mostly for me it's just visual unrealistic looking things that I don't like as the stuff I said plus airport, farms seaports etc ridicously underscaled. Hopefully modding takes care of all that and the core game functions well.

I'm the opposite.

I love the colorful and cartoonish graphics/style.

------

Though I am curious to find out how well the game ruins on my Late 2011 Macbook Pro

With my minimum specs:

  • My iCore 7 Processor >>>>>>> than the minimum
  • My graphics card > than the minimum
  • Systems RAM (16GBs) >>>>>>>>>>> than the minimum (6GBs)
  • I am also running the current OSX

Hopefully your GPU handles it Xenocity, pretty stout on the rest. I gave up trying to play games on my laptop, just built a cheap desktop with a dedicated video card.

I want to clarify something I said in my post above  - I was mistaken about comerccial not having jobs, there is some misinformation out there, i now found a quote from one of the developers on the forums saying that they do provide jobs just not nearly as many as industry and office zones provide. So scratch that bit right now.
