Tomorrow will occur the last two games of the first round of the group stage, with Belgium vs Argelia and Russia vs Korea Republic, and also the first game of the second round, Brazil vs Mexico.

Brazil and Mexico ended in a tie. I'm actually glad they tied, had Brazil lost, which was likely, the Brazillians would have lost it. All in all, it was a good game by both sides. Probably ranking it as one of the best games of the tournament so far.

I also found the game very poor technically. Anyway, today completed the first round of the group stage and began the second round!

I'm delightgully all of my favourite team won their first match. That's weird, because I don't into that much about football, but hooray!

I loved that Brazil vs Mexico game. It seemed like a case of an "unstoppable force meets and unmoveable object". Brazil could have scored 2 or 3 goals if were not for the amazing reflexes and positioning of the Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

 

Today I'm looking forward to the Netherlands vs Australia and Spain vs Chile matches. I want the Netherlands to destroy the Ozzies (more Van Persie and Robben, and more flying Dutchmen) and as for Spain- it will be interesting to see their comeback.

Yup, it seems a safe bet. Australia is ranked as #62 on the FIFA ranking list and the Netherlands is at #15.

However, Spain is ranked as #1, and they lost last week with 5-1 from us, so the ranking can be wrong sometimes. Also, of all the times the Netherlands faced Australia in a football match (which is not often), they have never won a game. So, who knows...

I think the today's match should not be a problem for the Netherlands team but sometimes this kind of matches can be dangerous for the favorite teams, so I hope that the Netherlands is focused on winning today.

 

Talking about Spain, let's see what happen, but today they have the first final in the World Cup and they have to do a great job and play well if they want to get the victory today, I just hope the Spanish team make some changes, the Spanish team need a more physical game and be more aggressive...

Keep in mind the 2014 team of Australia is nothing compared to the team of 2006. We were ranked #13 in the World and we narrowly lost the round of 16 against Italy.

Well, it's a shame

Australia did a wonderful match against Netherlands, but the oranges won 3-2. 

If Australia had made a goal just before third of Holland, they would be in an advantage, but the Australian player made a bad intersection and other finalized over the goalkeeper in front of goal. Well, this is football and the World Cup, Australia now has a low chance to be classified, while the Netherlands is already in the quarter-finals!

Phwoaarrr! What a nail-biting game! Netherlands 3, Australia 2.

 

The Ozzies fought, they fought hard for at least 70 minutes of the game. But, kudos to the Dutch, the Dutch came back and punished Australia due to Australian defensive slips.

 

I do think the Netherlands underestimated Australia, and overlooked the fact that the Ozzies had nothing to lose so to speak. But the 1st Australian goal was insane! Either mad skill or mad luck, I can't decide but it sure was good. My jaw dropped to the floor when it went in. Looking forward to Spain vs Chile!

I was expecting Spain to lose and they did.Congrats to Chile.This tournament has been so full of upsets so am even scared for Brazil,Germany and Netherlands.Who knows?Maybe none of them would win the cup.

Yeah so many upsets, for Europe, I can only see the Ducth and Italians that may go far in this tournament. Winning, not quite sure as Latin America teams are quite strong.

I was so excited about the Australia v Netherlands game. In my opinion despite the score saying differently, Australia well outclassed the Dutch with a tighter defence and more attacks. The first goal of the Dutch was an easy give away and we should have equalised later on but poorly executed a shot.

All in all, shows we are not to be messed with. I think we can beat Spain easily.

With games made today the classifieds from Group B are Netherlands and Chile that will define next week which is first and which is second. After the match between Cameroon and Croatia, Brazil is also classifield and only in the next round we will know if in first or in second in Group A, because Mexico and Croatia will fight for the classification as well.

Also with the results of this Wednesday we already know that Australia, Spain and Cameroon are eliminated from the World Cup (they still have a match to do, but nothing important). Tomorrow will be three more games, especially Uruguay vs England, they both lost their first game and whoever loses will be out of the World Cup too.

Yes, they were ranked number one in the world. But then again Brazil drew with Mexico (a much poorer team) and well the Australia v Netherlands game looked like it was going to be won by Australia for a bit so there have been some big upsets here.

We played quite bad in the first half. Australia had the upper hand in the first half. However, the second half was quite better, though it was quite visible that Australia had nothing to lose and went for it at 110%. It was exciting right until the last second.

Only two yellow cards were issued, and despite one really ugly tackle, it was a good match.

Colombia just beated Cotê D'Ivoire 2-1, so Colombia is classifield to round of 16! In a few minutes England and Uruguay will do a great match! I think England will win, but let's wait to see.

Well... The game was 2-1, not 3-2, but ok.

 

The game was good and well balanced, but Colombia was able to win, but either way I cheer for Ivory Coast passing phase.

Unlike most Ghanaians,am a big fan of Suarez so am happy for him.Too bad England lost again after all their efforts.
