Official Simtropolis Expansion?

Simcity 5 Sucks. I still think it would be cool if there was an official simtropolis expansion mod that came with an installer that installed all the best recommended mods, bug fixes, NAM, texture packs, etc, etc, but with a few tweaks to create a balanced challenging and playable game, resulting in an official expansion that we could all use.  This would be cool because then the community could share regions without the guess work of what mods where used.

Yes, I also wish if Maxis can come up with a updated version called SimCity 6 or such with all bug fixes, NAM like system, more tools and more city beautification options, etc. etc.

Unfortunately there are many copyright issues from the mod creators, so you are stuck picking your own custom content.  You could, of  course, order the STEX disks to get some of the "best" custom stuff.  On the other hand, it is all on-line, no charge.

 

Basic content consists of the Deluxe game at build 1,1,638 or higher and any mod/lot marked "fix" in its title.  Then for a huge set of fixes and enhancements to the road networks add the NAM (31.2 release, or 32-pr1 beta for the adventurous).

 

After that, it is a matter of artistic/gaming taste.

 

@greener07.  You mean SC4.5 I am sure.  The current system fixed with the current patches and with fixed bugs would be nice.  Chances are slim to none.  I'd really like to see them finish the OpenGL stuff.  However, EA is too busy trying to recover from the current fiasco to do anything so retro that might help their reputation for not giving a damn.

The STEX CDs/DVDs do the trick.

 

For mods like the NAM, they are constantly being updated so it doesn't really make sense to include a standalone version.

 

The STEX hall of fame is also worth a look, as well as searching for the highest rated and most downloaded mods on the STEX.
