Hoping to Create a New Mod But Need a Little Help Here

Hello, modders and gamers, and thanks for taking the time to click on this thread

 

I'm looking to create a new mod for SimCity, but I need a little help to get me there. Oppie has already helped me a lot (providing us all with SimCityPak and giving me a few pointers), but I still need help.

 

I want to create a medium density road with streetcar tracks outlining the sides of it. ProcsKalone has given me a basic idea of what I need to do, but there's a problem: when I transport the medium density road to a separate package and try to open up the network (where I can change the appearance of the road), it comes up with a little box that says "No Results". And I know that I can't modify anything in the SimCity_Game package itself, or it'll mess everything up.

 

Can anyone help me with this? New to modding, so the question may seem a little stupid but I hope for the best answers I can possibly get!

Wish I could help you, but I'm just a clod with this stuff.   If somebody could create a mod to give us larger maps, then watch out!

I think I might have misunderstood your question the first time I read it - I guess what you mean is that you clicked on the blue link when the "no results" dialog popped up?

 

To shed some light on your problem; the link is merely a pointer to a different PROP entry in the package file. The 'network' property in the file you exported is merely a pointer to a certain 'TGI' combination - clicking it will trigger a search in the currently opened package file for the entry referenced by this property. If it's not found (which it isn't since you probably closed the SimCity_Game.package), a box saying that there are no results will pop up. In short, to modify the network property, you will also need to export the PROP entry that defines the network appearance into its own package.
