@joe90 Tigeleard Tramway Interchange must dangerous!

tigeleard.png

Doesn't look too dangerous to me... :)

On your own map, I'm not sure how you did it, but you've managed to make Inkscape look like Paint. I wouldn't paste the old map into Inkscape and trace it - try starting from scratch and copying the map instead. Turn the grid on, and snap to grid, and draw the lines using paths. The points will snap to the grid so its a lot easier to draw straight lines, and the grid will help with spacing out the stations evenly.

Good on you for trying Inkscape though! Keep at it and you'll find its a whole lot more flexible than Paint. :thumb:

@Joe90: That map's awesome! It's big and extensive enough to cover... like... a 1000 sq. mi. area! Does it cover that much?

144km2 actually. Its a whole developed city of 1.1 million people. That is a tram map mind you, so stops are every couple of blocks, like a bus route.

oh i thought the tramway interchange had 6 lines crossing each other in a crossroads shape. Amazing interchange though.

And thanks for the advice joe90. I suppose practise makes perfect so i'll jusy have to practise. Anyway here is the latest version of the map.

t2lRv.png

I think it maybe the text that makes it look like paint.

@ee99: They're grrrrrrrrreat!!! I know, my maps are really simple... But it's a historical streetcar service that serves a 4 sq. km. area... It's used by a lot of people since it connects the most important areas in Texaca City, which is a law school, a major soccer stadium, a medical district, and a financial district. Near the TruuWare Arena, there are glass-panel highrises that are right by the streetcar tracks.

@Joe90: So, I'm off by more than 3000%? LOL, your tram service is pretty extensive. Only for 1.1 million people? My streetcar service is so tiny and serves 5 million people. I'm doing something seriously wrong... :P

A) Tiger Tramway Interchange looks good!

B) I have a very specific stopping frequency for my mass transit. From highest to lowest number of stops: Bus, Tram/Subway, Elevated/Light Rail, Heavy Rail (Passenger/Freight), High-Speed/Monorail.

C) Well done for trying Inkscape Ee99. Maybe I should try it, there's a Mac version available! I'm currently using Create for Mac.

D) Time for another map! This is another development that is closely linked to the SAHS, which I showed earlier. Another exclusive preview from the Timbuktu Region Diary:

@ggamgus I meant simple in a good way as my sims struggle to walk down the road nevermind getting on a tram!

@joe90 I think the tram interchange is cool even if it confuses my map reading skills

@DAB_city I love the smooth curves on your map although i'm suprised you say you have heavy rail stops more often then monorail stops.

@ee99: Sorry to hear that. And thanks, but not all of my transit systems are that simple. The subway system I built for Columbia St. Cardinalsburg, my largest city, has about several hundred stops...

@ggamgus well its my fault only giving them a riding school. Makes them want to ride horses down the railway lines :whatevs: And yeah i guessed your awesome cities would have a more complicated transit method somewhere.

Also, I have expanded my regions bus network and made a rural glr line. I'm working on maps for them

@ee99: Thanks a lot. I hope the GLR line works out... You know, to make it realistic, and expand your mass transit services in a way, you can build a station for intercity bus services like Greyhound (there are Greyhound stations on STEX) and build a mass transit station near it. It would give not only your citizens an incentive to ride, but also visitors would ride the system, as well.

I'm thinking of getting Amtrak stations for my cities. They're on an island, but I'll find a way to connect them to nearby continents... :P

@DAB_city I love the smooth curves on your map although i'm suprised you say you have heavy rail stops more often then monorail stops.

West Simford Tram (excluding SARSS) starts out on heavy rail at Simford Int'l (Airport) (although it is not connected to the region-wide Timbuktu Rail network). It then converts to subway after Stansted Interchange, passes under a highway (Extended Simford Orbital) and returns to the surface in two parts as light rail (Parker Line with a ramp, and all others with an on-slope portal).

Basically:

WST: Heavy Rail <> Subway <> GLR and beyond!

SARSS: Heavy Rail <> Subway

West Simford Tram = A combination tram/underground system = dedicated tracks. It does not connect to the region-wide Timbuktu Rail, but does connect to SARSS. Simford Airport Railway Shuttle Service is operationally separate, but connects to WST at Stansted Int'l (Station). They use the same vehicles.

I hope you get it! SAHS (see earlier posts) is high-speed, running on brand-new tracks, but it would be impossible to add more stations. I may extend it on either end eventually, as my region continues to grow. I use buses to fill in any gaps, as a whole. 2.gif

@ggamgus I found the Greyhound station. Its a nice building.

@DAB_City Oh i get it know. Sounds like your lines change between different method of transit.

Well here is my latest creation in inkscape. The map feels a bit empty though so improvements please.

It's getting better! I find it hard to think of names for streets, stations and towns, but that map's great! I need to think of where I can make some more maps... lol 47.gif

"Eeshire"??? If you're referring to England, it's still spelt the same: "passenger"... Lol

It is hard to name bus stops, especially if you use a lot like me. I'd try to name them after streets (but how to name them?!?!) 32.gif

I meant the Eeshire (my cj) version of English like English in USA has different spelling then English in England like: color-colour

I agree bus stops and streets are hard. Sometimes I give up trying to be creative and use boring names like First ave, Second Ave, Upper road, Lower road, Small Street, Big Street, Short Drive ,Long Drive etc etc

Ah, sorry, didn't see that there! 43.gif

Yep, can't think of many decent names for my major north-south and west-east avenues. One is called "Ferry Avenue Parkway", as you can see on my WST map, with both the Central and Parker lines terminating there. The name is due to a ferry terminal at the west en of the avenue (with another stop on the Jubilium Line). I'm adding two more stations onto that line, so that it extends further north. I'm also creating a "booster" route, named the District Line (like the red LU route), running from Simfordian Hills [P+R] to Stansted Junction, Stansted T-Way and Stansted South. I'll update the map soon. 19.gif

Hi!

This is scheme of subway system in a city of Dementievsk-Timanskii (population - 1,5 million people), which I'm building now. According my idea, this city is located on north-west part of Russia, and names of stations and passanger hubs have russian names, which I can't always translate into english correctly. So, all stations/hubs in this sheme have 2 names: english and russian.

Symbols of other types of public transport were copied from Benedict's map.

P.S. sorry for may bad english.

This is Sunderland Metro Rapid Rail, a system of Subway and Light rail that circulates the people of Sunderland. It's not quite finished, as the North bit of the green line and the west bit of the red line are not even built yet, but for now it looks good! See more in my CJ!

Behold, the subway and tram map for that 300'000 inhabitants city, Leyawiin. It's the map for the year 2004 --- I am redevelopping trams so don't have a lot of income, and I need to save money to extend line 50 both sides of the Niben to Bravil.

It's all functionnal in Cities in Motion, though lines 4 and 50 tend to be congested much. Leyawiin Hbf is a hell, I'm gonna post screens if I have time. :)

These look great, people. Now I'm REALLY jealous of your skills!

Anyway, here is an updated version of my previous West Simford Tram (WST) map. This is now Phrase 6, incorporating a number of changes, extensions and even a new line! 4.gif See what you think:

I will update my city journal soon... Look out for some more entries!

I don't know, this map is kind of strange...more like a people mover map I guess :P

I actually like this map, as it is different to a lot of maps out there. I do prefer the cleaner look of the previous version, though, as I find the diagonal pink line jarring to the eye.

(PS @ DAB_City - it should be 'phase 6' rather than phrase 6)

Cheers, it's just a simple little job in "Create", as I explained earlier. Maybe I'll try something more advanced in the future!

P.S. "Phase" is American-English, "Phrase" is English-English, as in my native tongue. I'm sure you'll understand.

OK, maybe it is "Phase"... I'll confirm this and change it soon. Thanks for the help! 2.gif

Oh yes, the diagonal line is jarring and it seems that the curves look mis-done to me 0.o

Thanks for that. I know it's not the greatest, I'll see if I can do something more professional in the future... 4.gif

I could fix that easily using Paint :P

Talking of paint, the 2005 version of Leyawiin, made using the Win7 version. Boy is it hard to use, that Windows 7 MS Paint :(

leyawiin2005.png

Yep, did improvements to the prior map. Now getting back onto...Vancouver!
