Very nice maps everyone. I do know the time and patience needed to make a map and it was a long journey but I think I finished it in guidance class today. I have been planning to transfer it into SC4 but as you can see the very large transit networks and the scale at the bottom would take a very long time to make. I have never successfully made a big city before and have created a vast amount of calculations between this map and recreating it in the game. I guess it would be a big challenge to me and I will try to do so. :) Thanks for the comments.

It's the London Underground.

@ maarten: Great maps!

@ ShadowAssassin: it's not Moscow (Moscow's ring line is colored brown on maps).

Here are the rest of the lines:

It's the London Underground.

We have a winner!

I decided to see what would happen if the circle line of the London Underground was depicted as a circle. I abandoned the Beck rules, and came up with this, not all that useful, map of the central portion of the LU:

Might not be useful, but it looks damn cool!

I used Inkscape, first I made this map using the Lot part of SC4Savegame Explorer:

Then I overlaid the roads in Inkscape while running the game for road layout reference.

Sorry for double posting, but my first attempt at a google-styled map:

googlemapsv.png

I'll have to fix the ramp at the top and also find out what font google maps uses....

Nice job.

Google maps uses Arial regular, 11pt with a glow, but you can get the effect better with a 1px white stroke.

How do I get the glow effect?

That depends on what software you use, if GIMP [link], if Inkscape [link]. However I would recommend using a 1px stroke, it is easier and is less difficult to match to Gmaps, if GIMP: I dont remember, just search GIMP stroke, if Inkscape: use Ctrl+Shift+F to access the fill and stroke panel.

This is my recent attempt at enhancing my SimCity 4 experience! I had way too much fun making this.

The follow up to this map [an as yet unfinished but presentable version]:

newkirkcitymap2000w1996.png

For the street names outside of the green belt, and other than the main arterials, were inspired by New Zealand, Australian and Canadian Prime Ministers, international cities (in reverse alphabetical order from Nth to Sth) and the streets on the south side of the river (adjoining Enterprise Dr, Mayfield and Barnard Aves) were taken after counties in Ohio (a list picked at random).

This is the first street map I have ever made and all credit goes to the WikiTravel tutorial for Inkscape I found here.

This is one I've sort of been working on... I'm sort of a newbie with it, but luckily my city is gridded... (I know it sounds bland, but if you've ever been to either of the two cities it's based on you'll pick up why pretty quickly.) It's fairly large, so I've chucked it in IMG tags, but if I need to just post the URL then let me know.

Here is an updated version of the Vancouver System. This one has added commuter rails. Since in-game the scale isn't quite right. Therefore it would be unfeasible to run a light rail to Burnaby and other points north and south like it is in real life. As the SC4 perspective goes, commuter rail is much faster.

This map isn't completed yet. I am hoping to have that finished soon, most of the system has now been completed. Aside from commuter rails in undeveloped areas.

Credit for creating the map goes to Bennedict. Nice job as always.

Good job 9998! I guess you handdrew them on paper and then scanned them onto your computer...
