We have this list for that: https://community.simtropolis.com/best-content/

I see that one of my posts (a "why SimCity 2013 doesn't work for the older community"-post) has reached the #4 spot on t :O

Oh, and congrats Yoshi for having the #1 most rep given for a CJ entry with your latest CJ entry!

Oh neat! And congratulations on that!

And 28 with Med Inspirations? I definitely have some worthy challengers ;)

Already planning an update to beat it ;)

However notice that the other slightly lower points (still 20+) are consistently held by the same few members. They do a fantastic job.

Statistics don't interest me, but if that's your bag, congratulations to all high achievers.

It's been all in the news:

    When you're really confused

no, you don't need no ruse

    'cause you'll find enough use

    in our resident moose

    he'll show you what's loose

    and might even amuse

so there's no time to lose

and no need to get booze

    just you follow his cues

and the prints of his shoes

and you'll have a smooth cruise

    until success ensues.

'tis a boring day at work, and when the mind doesn't find anything to work on in the stuff that's in front of my eyes, it starts to wander and produce useless nonsense... such as these lines. So yes, I did write them, or rather: they came to me almost on their own.

I'd like to see the amount of reputation points held by all members graphed. As much as I'm not big on mathematics, I'm a sucker for graphs. I'll bet §1,000,000.000 it follows a rough, normal distribution. ;)

Yes! We need graphs! A lot of them! There used to be a graph on the profile of members which showed when they posted most and what their average post/day was. I liked that graph.

In a long life of putting up with statistics, I have never understood the fascination others have with them.  The personal data base is limited and doesn't need useless facts like this when there are so many more useless things to gather.

    Graphs! Simtropolis Graphs!

Very nice work! What criteria did you use to determine who is an 'active' poster? Posts within the last year or something?

That last graph is no good for people who have made a lot of posts before the rep system was introduced. I wouldn't say it's very accurate, but interesting nonetheless!

That's the general problem with statistics.  The universe of discourse must be rigidly defined, if not published.  I think anyone who has studied the subject knows you can get results with a 95% confidence limit with a random sample of something less than 1000.

As far as I know, from taking a few data management and statistics courses, ≈ 95% confidence is the accurate measurement of two whole standard deviations within a normal distribution. The 95% accounts for the population (p) in -2sigma < p < 2sigma. Typically an accurate representation of the census should entail not a concrete number, but rather a percent. The margin of error should be < 5% given the 95% confidence rule. This may be calculated with the formula 1/(SqRoot of N) where N is the sample size you chose to work with. Of course, this is all assuming data follows a normal distribution. If you don't wish to use the formula, you can look up the data here: http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_ideas/Soc_participants.shtml We often used this website as a resource in class, so I can assure you it's accurate. ;)

P.S. regardless of measurement bias, I'm still glad to be at the top of the chat for reputation/post ratio! :P

It's a bit of a subjective one. It's from people I've noticed being online lately (within a month or so). Sometimes I checked their profile to confirm my thoughts...

And hey, I'm a guy that knows a lot of useless facts. I mean, I can recall the most common sign fonts by just looking at them :D

Maarten, you do realize that your graph of people's post counts is inaccurate because it fails to take into account people having clone accounts, and the fact that a couple of people had their post counts edited years back. For example, sloppet does not actually have 21,357 posts. ;)

Your ranking is also conspicuously missing banned members (yes, there are some of those with a lot of posts), which the forum software excludes from its auto-generated list.

I'll make a note to generate my own graph based on my own more accurate data but I don't have time right now.

Very interesting. Some people just have too many posts... :P I'd probably be dead (I really would!) before reaching 35,000 at my rate.

AKA, off the charts? Maarten set his cut-off at 10,000 posts so I guess when you go over that you have 'too many', at least in his mind. ;)

I doubt I would even reach 1,500 posts :( I really started too damn late.

Quality over quantity, and besides it's never too late!

Hang in there.  Not only have I been around ten years, but I am retired.  This is a neat place to gab.
