Yesterday, I ate Japanese (not sushi) for the first time. Wow.

What did you eat?  I particularly like okonomiyaki, takoyaki, the various styles of udon, and yakisoba.  Mostly the less-healthy stuff.

Yes, I had Udon. For starters I had something with octopus and ginger, and as dessert I had sakura-ice and green tea-ice, with a marzipan-like 'coating' (it was made from rice, I think). Oh, and we had Ramune lemonade, funny bottles

The idea of eating something that came out of the ocean somehow seems weird to me. Fish, shrimp, oysters, lobster, etc. are wet and squishy and not in a pleasant way.

I'm not on Snapchat since as far as I'm concerned it accomplishes nothing that other technology already doesn't. You want to send me a picture from your phone? Just text it to me. Also, the fact that Snapchat pictures expire after a set period of time and can't be saved is a flaw, not a feature. I don't want the picture if I can't keep it. That's like sending me Leprechaun gold.

 

Yes, I understand the program is very attractive to teenagers because it prevents parents from snooping on the photos you're sharing, and it allows you to send naughty pictures of yourself without worrying about everyone at school seeing them. As an adult neither of these things are concerns to me and I just think it's dumb.

My other problem is that I'm a snob about photography. I don't take pictures with my phone. I carry around a decent digital camera for that. Which allows me to take better pictures but of course precludes me using my phone to share them.

I took 400+ photos on my vacation to San Diego last summer on my phone, so I have no problem with taking pictures on my phone. Since I don't have many friends, I don't really tell them about things like that.

It depends. For some things, a phone is okay (my phone takes very good photos anyway), for others not (pictures on vacation, portraits, etc.)

I remember reading all this before.  I said this before, too, but maybe it was a different thread: With kids, you have to be prepared to take pictures, and you have to do it fast.  It makes the best option often the phone pictures.  Might change later, but for now...
