5222: When I woke up this morning, I didn't think we would have a new Prime Minister by the end of the day. But we do after the liberal party turned against their leader, in what means  to be the 5th prime minister in 5 years and now 8 years without a prime minister serving a single term.

Heh. We used to have a brand of shampoo called "Aussie Land" featuring this orange kangaroo as a mascot...

As best I can tell there was absolutely nothing Australian about it other than the imagery used in the marketing and branding. But that is typical of products branded with an international motif in the US. Giving something the appearance of being exotic makes people willing to pay a higher price for it.

I woke up this morning and decided to drive to Maine. Not this morning of course. That's far too spontaneous a decision to make so I'm going to drive there this weekend. I've never been to Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont so I can knock off 3 more states. More importantly road trip!

Well Muck you're gonna see some very pretty states, great driving, and you can find some French food up there, if you like Poutine. (no I do not like Poutine)

Duke, I think that was around the same time as the "Aussie" Subaru, had people thinking it was from down there.

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

Interestingly I passed through Vermont and New Hampshire this past weekend. It was the first time my girlfriend had ever been to either.

I on the other hand am missing only Alaska and Hawaii.

I have never eaten poutine. I had to google it but it looks like something I'd eat. I'm of course interested in getting some lobster or proper clam chowder while there.

After these three I still need AK, WA, OR, ND, MN, MI, AR, MS and AL.

5 minutes ago my best friend informed me he's been transferred to Cleveland. I am of sadness. Luckily, Cleveland is not all that far from here but who am I gonna play scrabble with? He and I loathe playing that game with anyone but each other. We jazzed up the rules a little bit which is why. Some people don't like our version of the game.

    I'm really gonna miss him.:(

Being from Pittsburgh, I'm well aware of the rivalry between the two cities. It's mostly a football thing, which I couldn't care less about. I became quite fond of Cleveland when my sister lived in Shaker Heights. Unfortunately, my last two visits there resulted in me hating the place. Rude, inconsiderate people were all that I came across. It really tainted the city's reputation as far as I'm concerned. I vowed to never return but soon my best friend will live there and the drive is not long, so I'll be back.

There are only two major cities I've visited that I found myself having a purely negative opinion of: Las Vegas and Tucson. The former is a filthy cesspool of debauchery and the latter is what you get when a blob of sprawling suburbia decides it hates cars despite being 100% dependent on them.

I suppose Washington DC also deserves a mention, for having the most obnoxious traffic enforcement ever coupled with some of the worst traffic congestion in the country, but it at least has redeeming qualities (lots of cool stuff to see). Las Vegas and Tucson just don't.

I am in 5 university classes, each with heavy focus on math. I might get Wolfram Mathematica.

I have been playing Civilization V in order to mod it. I want to eventually make a mod for Civilization Beyond Earth to add the starting conditions (sponsors, planets, colonists and cargo) and plot device from my fanfic into the game. I am starting with Civilization V because CivBE is based off it and there is more documentation, help, support, and capability with Civ5 mods. My first mod will be to add a civilization based off the epilogue of my fanfic, where the robotic and alien/human hybrid cyborg forces conquer all other nearby inhabited planets besides 1. All the best minds of this one planet build a database with the sum of all human knowledge needed to prevent this event, then build a robot with basic AI (cannot make decisions without input from humans, whether these inputs are pre-recorded responses, simulations, or direct real-time commands) and holographic projector (to disguise itself as human), then pool all their resources to send their database and robot to 780 BC.

It reminded me that prevention of WWI is the only way to prevent WWII, prevention of WWI could be achieved by decreasing nationalism or decreasing access to war technology, decreasing access to war technology could be achieved by preventing the Otto engine from being invented. If the Otto engine was never invented, gasoline-powered automobiles would have never been made. This would prevent car culture and suburbs as we know them in the USA. Electric vehicles would still exist as would garden cities but there would be no feasible way for personal automobiles to go beyond the limits of city infrastructure until roughly our point in technological progress. The medieval dark ages could be prevented by preventing the power vacuum from the fall of the Roman Empire, which could be prevented by keeping the Roman Republic in Italy or slowing the spread of Rome to match the speed of communications. Christianity as we know it would not exist without Greece expanding to the Eastern Mediterranean and Christianity would not spread without Rome taking over Greece.

The absence of a critical event from history may substantially alter its course but that doesn't mean that the event is necessarily easily avoidable. Stop Otto from inventing his engine and someone else probably would have instead.

Or, for a fictitious example, stop the chips that create Skynet from being developed and Judgment day still happens, only a few years later. :P

My fanfic doesn't include any parts after Athena Prime (the robot's disguise/identity on Old Earth) arrives at the mouth of the Moulouya River in 780 BC. The chapter regarding the Purist humans ends as their planet is invaded by the robots and human/alien hybrid cyborg forces, right after the swan song of humanity (the robot) goes through the portal, which uses up all the stored and generated electricity of the planet for the mere 10 seconds it was open.

The story of Athena Prime is entirely up to the players who use my upcoming mod. Civilization: Beyond Earth is the future of our timeline, not of Civilization V; Civilization V is an alternate history. The alternate history of Athena Prime would be most accurate if combined with Yet (not) Another Earth Maps Pack with Europe, Large Europe, or Giant Earth. However, the Player (or AI) might not succeed at fulfilling the mission set out by the Purists.

The first versions of my fanfic used all original characters (including sponsors) on a Super Earth (with 1.5x Earth g) orbiting a distant star in the opposite direction of Alpha Centauri. The sponsors of CivBE were only mentioned in 1 chapter as an afterthought. I expanded their part.

Both wars had to happen, the first due to the treaties and the second due to retaliation to acts of war, you could not really avoid them.

My stories cannot possibly be LP's because they are written based off extrapolations from playing. I could probably make the mods for the 3 games to make a video series that follows my fanfiction but I don't have the time.

5244: Noumea, New Caledonia is mine. The other cities in the pacific are much nicer and despite what I was told, it's very hard to get around unless you speak French. Also I'm on Simtropolis less these days, my new house has poor mobile reception.
