Hello everyone.

As some might know I uploaded yesterday. I want to upload way more buildings, but I only want to upload it when I know how to make a night lighting in it. Can anyone explain me how to do that or does anyone knows a tutorial where someone explains how to? Thanks in advance.

Right now, I'm making 2 new BAT's.

The first one is 'Maastoren' in Rotterdam and the second is Hermitage Plaza. Maastoren is a perfect building for a city with a basic skyline and the Hermitage Plaza is perfect for a modern skyline like Hong Kong. I expect to have booth uploads ready this week-end.

If you have any request for a building, I'll make it as soon as possible. And if you see any bug mistake or just a thing in the lot that could be way better, just tell me and I'll change it in the next update.

I hope you'll like my latest upload and my coming uploads.

Bidoflazy.

Thank you for the tuto, there's only one problem. Tour Montparnasse were just a few pictures made into a good shape. This is what I meen:

So the front is one big piece. How can I add night version in this? Or do I need to make it again but now with every window a different piece?

You will have to model a lot more than you did on your Tour Montparnasse, yes. Taking a simple base shape and applying photographed, flat textures over it can look good from further zoom levels, but to be honest, it's not really sufficient for a game like SimCity 4. It would do for a flight simulator because the illusion works from farther away and you'd never come close enough to see what's actually there. However, in SimCity you probably spend most of your time in zooms 4 and 5, and that's where techniques like "photo texture on flat surface" become apparent.

Then what's the best way to make a BAT? Is there any tutorial?

The best way to make a BAT is to model the details instead of texturing them. This means you have to model things like window frames, separate windows and doors, all individually textured. I can't give you a tutorial for that, but this is what differs many BATs from the majority of the Google Warehouse models. There's a lot more detail involved in it.

One more tip: if the pattern of windows and such repeats over multiple floors, just make one floor and copy it to the rest of the floors. This will save you a lot of time. Same goes for models with rotation or mirror symmetry.

You can make your own textures with photoshop, gimp and many other programs or create textures with procedurals technic, darn has made a good tuto ;) but an good texturing took a lot of time.

I think, create your model first, and when it will be ready, apply the textures.
