Awesome exits! I suppose you've downloaded the NAM? All those varieties of interchanges and exits are really awesome, I can't wait for the next update in this series!

First posting the TOC (I'm using this fancy-shmancy italics stuff for now, I may or may not keep it). This is a picture of a part of North Beach:

    pg18toc6wz.jpg

    your_adress_here: Thanks for the compliments.

DragonAnime: Thanks for the compliments. Crosstown actually once was a developing town, until the game crashed to the desktop. I guess I should save more often. I'll rebuilt it soon. 10.gif

oroen: Thanks. I'm glad I've inspired you to do something similar for Downingsford. I've been thinking about doing this for a while but I've been too lazy to do it. It's a lot of work, but I guess it's worth it in the end.

And thanks for confirming the interstate highway numbering stuff. Now I can decide between I-468, I-668 and I-868. I'll probably choose I-468, because it doesn't have any repeat numbers in it.

King: Thanks. And thanks for reminding me about the TOC. 10.gif

RHF: Thanks for the compliments. I actually haven't gotten the NAM yet. I'm just using what I've got with RH.

To All: Tommorow's installment in the Interstate Highway update series will be I-368 and the I-68 west extension (Probably will be named I-468 ), if the update is ready by then. It should be, so that's not much of an issue. So watch for that sometime tommorow. 10.gif

Wow, your interchanges and exits look amazing for the stock Rush Hour set! Once you download the NAM, you will have so many options, your highway network will only get better.

RHF: Thanks. Although I'm still not completely sure about the NAM. It has to be pretty important if I'm going to download it. I know you and others have recommended it, but I still don't want to make a decision yet. I'll probably get it eventually. 10.gif

    To All:

I have decided that the I-68 western extension will be renamed I-468. There won't be any good signs for it yet, but if its not a bother to nooneatall then maybe he can make that one to go with the other great signs he made for this CJ.

So with that being said, tommorow's update will consist of all seven I-368 exits as well as all seven I-468 exits, making for a total of seven exits. If I can, I might even try to get the I-31 update in there as well. But for now, it looks like that one will have to wait for Saturday.

King: Thanks, if I get the NAM then I'll take a look at those.

    jacqulina: Thanks.

    sloppet: Thanks.

    To All:

The I-368/I-468 update should come today, possibly even during the afternoon. So be on the lookout for that one. 10.gif

Comdude, what a region, wow! I've been browsing CJs all week, yours and others have inspired me to try and break away from my usual flat-no-terrain, 100% grid network to something more natural and flowing. I like the realistic transportation system of major arteries (highways) flowing to smaller ones (avenues) which become the capillaries (roads, streets). Can I ask you (or anyone else for that matter) how effective it is in your region? How are your commute times and traffic congestion (You really have no mass transit in your region!?) Is it a strong intermingling of zone types that makes such a realistic transportation network viable?

Keep up the amazing CJ and region!

Mikeaut: Thanks, I'm amazed at how fast this CJ is going as well.

lestatdl1: Thanks for the compliments and great input. It's nice to know that I'm inspiring others with this CJ. Commute times in most towns are around 50-60 minutes, fairly high I'd say. A lot of the avenues get at least moderate traffic, but it's mostly the roads that get the most traffic. Some avenues and roads, although only a few, are red on the traffic map. The highways get varied use ranging from no commuters to several thousand commuters for both of the daily rush hours. Mass transit, as you said, is basically non-existant. The railroads and train stations in South Shores are mainly for show and realism in that industrial town. There are a few bus stops in South Shores, which get little use if I remember correctly. The rest of the region is really too developed to be putting in mass transit, and I don't feel the need to.

As for the zones, you're right that they help the commute times be lower. Most main roads have at least some commercial development, and some of them are lined with commercial buildings. I've had a lot of no job zot (NJz) problems in this region, but zoning commercial areas and getting high-tech industrial parks near and within residential areas really lowers the commute time and unemployment.

    To All:

The I-368/I-468 update will probably come by late afternoon. I would also like to say that I'm getting the hang of Photoshop, and that I plan to work hard on getting some really realistic looking maps made for this region. I plan on eventually making maps of each town and of the whole region. The maps seen in this CJ so far have all been made in MSPaint. So if you like maps, then expect to see some pretty good maps come possibly in the near future. 10.gif

    To All:

Here is the I-368/I-468 Update, the third installment in the Interstate Highway update series. Sorry for the delay, I said earlier that it would be ready by late afternoon, so it's a few hours late. I think the extra work I put into it will pay off, though. 10.gif

    I-368 AND I-468 EXIT GUIDE

I-368 and I-468 are two important highways in the southern portion of the region, on the mainland south of Pinewood River. Both come from their parent highway, I-68, which is the largest highway in the region.

Here is an overview of the highways and their exits:

    transpo6ic.jpg

    INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 368

I-368 will be shown first. It is older than I-468. It goes from I-68 in South Inlet eastward to Ocean Point International Airport (OPI), and ends at Route 99. It has seven exits; four in South Inlet and three at OPI.

Exit 1 of I-368 is the T-Interchange with I-68 in the central portion of South Inlet Township. There is no picture for this exit in this post, but this interchange/exit can be seen on page 17, in the second I-68 update. It is I-68 exit 19.

Exit 2 is for West Main Street in South Inlet. It is just west of downtown South Inlet, and this exit is used mainly for downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods.

    exit2si1bb.jpg

Exit 3 is for Fern Street in South Inlet. This exit is mainly used by commuters who live in the general area.

    exit3si5xh.jpg

Exit 4 is for Oakwoods Ave., a main road in South Inlet. It can be taken south to South Shores, or north to Route 99 and Ocean Point. It runs along and near the eastern edge of the developed portion of South Inlet.

    exit4si5su.jpg

Exit 5 is for West Airport Ave. in OPI. It can be used to go to some of the main areas at OPI, including the Northwest Parking Lot (Just above this picture), the main parking lot for the airport. West Airport Ave. can also be taken south to Route 99.

    exit5opi1ir.jpg

Exit 6 is for Cargo Rd., which leads to the Cargo portion of the airport to the north, and Route 99 to the south.

    exit6opi3zh.jpg

Exit 7 does not have a picture, but it is for the end of the highway. I-368 becomes an avenue and meets Route 99 at an intersection at OPI.

    INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 468

I-468 was built mainly as a shortcut and bypass of the portion of I-68 which runs through all of Pinewood Banks, part of Ocean Point, all of South Inlet and South Shores and all of Crosstown. I-68 took an out-of-the-way route for those driving through the region who needed a direct North/South route across Pinewood County. Instead of having to go east through the dense aforementioned areas, the new highway would go through relatively undeveloped land and meet I-68 again in Crosstown. Not only would it bypass the traffic in the Ocean Point area, but it would also be a much more direct route straight to Crosstown from the northern portion of Pinewood Banks.

The plan was approved, and the new highway was built. It now has seven exits. For a while, the new highway was called the I-68 West Extension, until being re-named recently to I-468.

The first three exits are all in Pinewood Banks. The first exit is for I-68, at the I-68/I-468 T-Interchange. The other two are for Land Ave. and Cross Street, which are two main roads in that part of Pinewood Banks.

    exits123pb3ch.jpg

Exit 4 is for Route 28 in East Pinewood. Route 28 is one of the most widely used roads in the region, stretching from the region's northern border at North Beach, then roughly paralleling the ocean down the island to Ocean Point, over the Inlet via the I-268/Route 28 Inlet Bridge, then through South Inlet and East Pinewood on the mainland, south of the Pinewood River, west to Pinewood and the region's western border to the southwest of that. Exit 4 and I-468 are around halfway in between the centers of Pinewood and East Pinewood, making this a very useful exit for those traveling to either town.

    exit4ep6mk.jpg

Exit 5 is for Powerline Road, in East Pinewood. Powerline Road can be taken southwest to near the East Pinewood Natural Gas Power Facility, or northeast to near downtown East Pinewood.

    exit5ep2fc.jpg

Exit 6 is in Crosstown, and is for South Shores Turnpike. South Shores Turnpike isn't a highway like its name may suggest, but instead a two-lane road going from south of Pinewood, through Crosstown to South Shores.

    exit6ct9jv.jpg

Exit 7 is for the I-68/I-468 T-Interchange, which is also in Crosstown. This is where I-468 begins or ends, depending on which direction you're coming from.

    exit7ct6wg.jpg

I hope you liked the update! Next up in the Interstate Highway update series is I-31. The update should come tommorow. 10.gif

King: Thanks for the compliments. I try to be original in presenting this CJ so I'm glad you like that.

RHF: Thanks. It's nice to get compliments on the highways after putting together those big updates.

    To All:

Tomorrow will almost definately have another update. This one will be on I-31. I-31 is the East/West oriented highway in the region. It has twelve exits, which will be shown in detail in the update. 10.gif

    Mikeaut: Thanks.

    To All:

Although the Interstate Highway update series probably won't be finished until Monday, I have plans for what will be coming next. Here is a plan for the updates in the following several days/week:

Tomorrow I-31 Exits- Fourth Installment in the Interstate Highways update series
    Sunday: Easter, no updates
Monday: I-268 Exits- Fifth and final Installment in the Interstate Highways update series
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday: MAJOR Ocean Point update- showing what will probably be the last large growth spurt which has been going on there, before the population begins to level off. This update has been in the planned phase since last Sunday or so (I first posted about this then), and may have more than one part.
After That: I would like to build Crosstown, which is the undeveloped township that can be seen in the second I-68 update (Pg. 17) and the I-468 update (Pg. 18 ). I would also like to even out the regional sprawl by developing portions of North Pinewood Township and Pinewood Flats Township.

As for the Maps: I think I'll be able to make some really great maps with Photoshop. It will take some time, though, so these maps probably won't come for a little while.

King: Thanks! That's a real honor to me, because there's so many great CJs out there.

    To All:

There will be an update on OPI as DragonAnime requested within the next couple of hours. Later tonight, the I-31 update should come. After I-31, the only highway left in the Interstate Highway update series is I-268.

EDIT: I deleted what was posted here earlier. The bottom line is that I think this CJ could deserve more replies. Of course, every CJ maker says that, as these CJs do take a lot of work. But I really appreciate it if you read this CJ often, to reply. Thanks. 3.gif

Note: I haven't stolen anything from Ocean Point willingly, mainly because I am too stupid with Paint/Photoshop to create TOCs or maps like you do. Of course, if I wanted to use that stuff in Thistlewood, I would reply here first...you should be flattered that so many people want to steal your ideas, but you're right, they should at least let you know first.

    JJ: Thanks for the compliments.

RHF: I would have no problem with you taking anything from this CJ. You are one of the top contributors to this CJ, you reply often and I really appreciate that. I guess I should have been clearer when I said that stuff. You don't need to ask me to use something, but just replying is fine. Anyways, I'm going to edit that post because I think I said a bunch of useless stuff in there. 3.gif

    And the fun continues!

I-368 reminds me a bit of I-195 in Maryland, which is a spur off I-95 that services a few local exits but whose main role ultimately is to service BWI Airport. The separate exits within the airport for cargo, parking, etc., are nice too.

oroen: Thanks for the compliments. That's cool, I-368 is like a real highway (I-195 in Maryland like you said) in that its main purpose is to connect a major highway to the airport. I wasn't aware of that, even though I like looking at maps a lot. Thanks for the input!

    To All:

The OPI update should come tomorrow. Sorry for the delay on that one.

But first, here is the I-31 update:

    _____________________________________________________________________________

    INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 31

I-31 is one of the main highways in the region. It is the only East/West interstate highway that is independent from I-68. Out of all of the five interstate highways in the region (I-68, I-268, I-368, I-468, I-568 and I-31), I-31 is the only one that is not I-68 or one of its loops or spurs.

I-31 goes from Great Bend to Ocean Point through the municipalities of Great Bend, Baytown, East Bayville and Ocean Point. Here is a map showing it, along with all 12 of its regional exits:

    i31overview2en.jpg

Here are the descriptions and pictures of each individual exit of I-31.

Exit 1 is for Commercial Road in Great Bend, a relatively important road in the town.

    exit1gb4dx.jpg

Exit 2 is for Route 34 in Great Bend. Route 34 can be taken north to downtown Great Bend, where it ends at Route 99, or south through Pinewood Shoals and eventually to Pinewood, which is where the road ends at Route 28.

    exit2gb4wp.jpg

Exit 3 is for Route 99 in Great Bend. Route 99 can be taken north to downtown Great Bend, and to Pinewood County's western border. It can be taken south along the south banks along the Pinewood River, through Pinewood Shoals, into a piece of South Baytown, then through Pinewood Banks, then a piece of Ocean Point, along the inlet and on to South Inlet and OPI, then along South Bay to South Shores and then Crosstown before exiting Pinewood County at its southern border. It is one of the most widely used roads in the region.

    exit3gb4kd.jpg

Exit 4 is for Corporate Road in Great Bend. Corporate Road runs along Great Bend's eastern border and is a main road in this commercial/high-tech industrial area.

    exit4gb310wr.jpg

Exit 5 is for West Square Road, in Baytown. It is a moderately useful road whose use has become much greater now that it is an I-31 exit.

    exit5bt9lz.jpg

Exit 6 is for I-68 at the cloverleaf interchange in Baytown. I-68 is the main North/South highway in the region and goes through the mainland portion of the county.

    exit6bt9cq.jpg

Exit 7 is for South Baytown Road, in Baytown. South Baytown Road is one of the main routes which can be taken from Baytown to South Baytown.

    exit7bt313qh.jpg

Exit 8 is for West Street in East Bayville. It is a main road in that town.

    exit8eb7mw.jpg

Exit 9 is for South Baytown Turnpike in Ocean Point. It is a major road which goes from the Pinewood Neck/North of the Pinewood River mainland district of Ocean Point to South Baytown.

    exit9op9xa.jpg

Exit 10 is for Airport Road in Ocean Point. Airport Road is a very important road in this part of Ocean Point. It can be taken north to Ocean Point Municipal (Actually a small international, but goes by municipal) Airport. From there, it can be taken to South Airport Ave., which leads to Route 19. There is no exit for Route 19 because making an exit there would destroy many buildings and roads, even though Route 19 is one of the most important roads in the region. Airport Road can be taken south into the Pinewood Neck residential/commercial district, situated in a very nice piece of land between the Pinewood River and Marshland Bay, which join together to form the inlet. Route 19 can be accessed by taking Airport Road south as well as Airport Road north.

    exit10op3ea.jpg

Exit 11 is for Bay Drive in Ocean Point, another main road which can be taken north to Ocean Point Municipal Airport, or south to the Pinewood Neck district.

    exit11op1ll.jpg

Exit 12 is for I-31's junction with I-268. This is where I-31 ends. I-268 can be taken north up the island, or south into other portions of Ocean Point. There is an exit nearby on I-268 for those who going from I-31 into Ocean Point. Route 71 and the Cross Island Turnpike are located nearby.

    exit12op4uu.jpg

    ______________________________________________________________________________

I think that was the largest update in Ocean Point history. 13 pictures with their own descriptions! Luckily, it was a fun one to make. I'm expecting lots of comments after this!3.gif

I may be able to make the OPI update and get it here tonight. Keep your eyes out for that one. 10.gif
