RHF: Thanks for the compliments, and I'm glad you're looking forward to the interstate highway series. Because so am I, there needs to be some different kind of updates in here. 10.gif

    your_adress_here: Thanks for the compliments.

jacqulina: Thanks for the compliments also.

sloppet: Thanks. That update took some time to make so I'm glad you like it.

    To All:

I've done a lot of work and the first update in the interstate highway update series should come later this afternoon or this evening. I can see no reason why it won't come today, so look out for that one. 10.gif

ar3man: Thanks for the compliments. Those street maps are simply made in MSPaint. I try to make due with what I have. 10.gif

King: Thanks for the compliments. And also for making me mayor of your city. I don't mind if you use that name.

    To All:

The Interstate Highway update series shall begin....

    i68northarea3xd.jpg

The following will consist of pictures of 9 of the 10 first exits of I-68 in Pinewood County. This covers the distance from Cedar Plains to South Baytown.

Exit 1 is in Cedar Plains, for I-268. I-268 is the aforementioned beltway which actually goes through the region's denser parts while I-68 stays further away from the city.

    exit1cp7nc.jpg

Exit 2 is also in Cedar Plains. It is for Route 82, an important road for beach-goers. This exit is used for the towns of Marshland, Bay Cove, and Oceanside as well as some others in the area.

    exit2cp3tx.jpg

Exit 3 is for North Pinewood Ave., a road which connects Great Bend with Marshland. This exit is in Pinewood Flats.

    exit3pf6ke.jpg

Exit 4 is in Great Bend, in the northeastern corner of that town. It is for Flats Road, which goes from Great Bend to Pinewood Flats.

    exit4gb7yj.jpg

Exit 5 is for Northridge Road in Baytown. This is in Baytown's newer area where residential housing near the highway has increased recently.

    exit5bt4ix.jpg

Exit 6 is for Great Bend Road, also in Baytown. This road is the main connector between Baytown and Great Bend, and can be taken west to Great Bend, or east to downtown Baytown and Route 19.

    exit6bt9lx.jpg

Exit 7 is the cloverleaf interchange of I-68 and I-31. I-31 is another very important route in the region, which can be taken west to Great Bend, or east to East Bayville and Ocean Point.

    exit7bt8fl.jpg

Exit 8 is also in Baytown, for Horizon Road. This is in the southern part of town, and can be used to take to South Baytown, which is just to the south of this picture.

    exit8bt2cx.jpg

Exit 9 doesn't have a picture, sorry, but it is for North River Drive in South Baytown, just north of the bridge.

Exit 10 is located on the south banks of the Pinewood River, just past the bridge. It is for Southbridge Road in South Baytown.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the first installment in the Interstate Highways Update Series! The next update will cover exits 11-26 on I-68, and should be released tommorow. Here is the plan for updates:

    Today: I-68 Exits 1-10 (Completed)
    Tomorrow: I-68 Exits 11-26
Thursday: I-68 West Branch (All Exits) and I-368 (All Exits)
Friday: I-31 (All Exits) and I-568 (All Exits)
    Saturday: I-268 (Exits 1-10)
    Sunday: I-268 (Exits 11-20)

Sound good? I may combine some of these updates to get the whole thing done a bit quicker. The updates may not follow this exact layout, but it will probably be close to this. 10.gif

Looks awesome so far, I like how you have taken the time to name all your highways, major arteries, etc. That takes dedication, I am much too lazy to do stuff like that. Can't wait for the next update in the series!

Neat idea.  What may be boring to some people, I find this kind of thing fascinating.  Looking forward to the rest.

    gundamdude: Thanks.

RHF: Thanks. Naming the major routes wasn't that hard, because they were in the original plans for the region. It's tougher to name the roads, though, because there's so many of them.

    King: Thanks for the compliments.

oroen: Thanks. And thanks for that highway sign! That really is cool. That gives me the idea to check out that Kurumi Signmaker and see if I can make some highway signs for this CJ. 10.gif

jarcher: Thanks for the compliments, great to see you back in here. I'm really glad you liked that update, it was a lot of work but I'm also satisfied with the outcome.

To All: Today's update, I-68 exits 11-26, should be ready by late evening at the earliest. I can almost promise that it will be here before the end of the day. 10.gif

    King: Thanks.

    To All:

Sorry, the update won't come tonight. However, it should be ready before this time tomorrow. I haven't gotten around to doing anything SC4-related since last night so the update will have to wait until tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to keep on the schedule by having two updates on one of these days. 10.gif

The update should come today. It will be on I-68, exits 11-26. I may include the 7 exits of I-68 West Branch if I have time. 10.gif

    RHF: Thanks.

To All: I can almost promise the update will come by late evening at the latest. It will cover I-68 exits 11-26. I may also find the time to fit in the I-68 West Extension portion which consists of seven separate exits. So be on the lookout for that. 10.gif

UPDATE 2 IN THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SERIES: I-68 SOUTHERN PORTION

Here is the southern portion of I-68, which consists of exits 11-26. The first update covered the northern part of I-68 in the region, from Cedar Plains to South Baytown. This update will cover the southern part of the highway, from Pinewood Banks to Crosstown. This does not include the new western extension I-68 route that is more of a spur/loop highway than not. It may be given its own number, probably I-468, I-668 or I-868 (It would have to be an even number because it starts and ends at I-68, I'm pretty sure that's how they number the interstate highways here in the U.S.) if that decision is made. That highway will most likely be included in the I-368 update.

These pictures won't have big descriptions, since most of the information about them is on the pictures themselves.

First, here is an overview of the area of I-68 that is included in this update:

    i68southarea2wy.jpg

Here are the pictures of the exits.

Exit 11 is in Pinewood Banks (Population of around 35,000, and the fourth largest town in the region), and it is for Route 99. Route 99 follows the coast from Crosstown to Ocean Point, then follows the south banks of the Pinewood River from Ocean Point to Great Bend. It's one of the major routes in the region.

    exit11pb2bt.jpg

Exits 12 and 13 are also located in Pinewood Banks. Exit 12 is for the western extension of I-68, which as was said above, has a good chance at getting its own number, either I-468, I-668 or I-868.

Exit 13 is for Mansion Road, a main road in Pinewood Banks.

    exits1213pb3jn.jpg

Exits 14, 15 and 16 are in Pinewood Banks as well. They are all for minor roads in Pinewood Banks.

    exits141516pb1xp.jpg

Exit 17 is for the I-268 Junction in the southwestern corner of Ocean Point. This is on the mainland portion of Ocean Point, south of the Pinewood River. I-268 is a major highway in the region and is like a beltway, as it links up with I-68 in the northern part of the region, in Cedar Plains (Shown in the previous update).

    exit17op6xp.jpg

Exit 18 is for School Road, one of the more important roads in South Inlet. The town of South Inlet is south of Ocean Point, and is mainly a suburban town.

    exit18si2cw.jpg

Exits 19 and 20 are also in South Inlet. Exit 19 is for I-368, which is a major highway that connects to Ocean Point International Airport (OPI), located to the east of South Inlet.

Exit 20 is for Office Ave, one of the roads in South Inlet.

    exits1920si7wx.jpg

Exit 21 is for Oak Street, another main road in South Inlet.

    exit21si5ud.jpg

Exit 22 is for Kingsley Ave. in South Shores. South Shores is the town directly south of South Inlet, and it has the largest seaport in the region. This part of South Shores is a residential section, although most of the town is industrial.

    exit22ss9vb.jpg

Exits 23, 24, 25 and 26 are all located in Crosstown, southwest of South Shores. Exits 23, 24 and 26 are for main roads in the town. Exit 25 is for the west extension of I-68 as it joins back up with I-68. Crosstown is still undeveloped, but may not remain that way for long.

    exits23to26ct3qh.jpg

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________

That's all for today. I hope you liked that update, it was a good amount of work. Tommorow, the I-368/I-68 West Ext. update will probably come here. I-368 and the I-68 West Ext. both have 7 exits. 10.gif

Crosstown looks like it will be a busy town surrounded by highways. I like the residential area or South Shores.

Really just wonderful. I've been planning all along to do an exit guide for Downingsford once there is a comprehensive freeway system. Right now I'm just settling for one exit at a time, but I'm really glad you're doing a comprehensive one.

And you're right about even-numbered 3-digit interstates generally having two junctions with its parent (odd-numbered ones generally have one junction), although there are many exceptions.
