Hello all,

Maybe i packed my plugins (with datpacker) in a wrong way:

Before in the MyDocs\Simcity4\ Plugins directory i had one "Plugins Compressed" file, and when i opened it i could see many .dat underfiles that i could remove or modify.

For now, after a datpacking once more, i still have "Plugins Compressed" file but when i open it there are four .dat files ( about 380Mo each) named Plugins_Compressed.dat (396 173 Ko)

                                                                         Plugins_Compressed-001.dat (396 018 Ko

                                                                         Plugins_Compressed-002.dat (396 206 Ko)

                                                                         Plugins_Cpmpressed-003.dat (356 445 Ko)

My game is running very ok, i even succeeded to build  good tram and GLR net and connections with very few crashes to desk. Nam 31.1 seems very OK.

My problem is i don't know how to modify ( add or take out ) any file into those four Plugins_Compressed.dat files. By using iLives i can see what s inside but it seems impossible to change anything  without changing the whole 396Mo files.

If there is an easier way than re-datpack the whole directory with my originals plugins, would you let me know it?

A .dat file is more or less locked unless you are a pretty good programmer.  datPacker is supposed to also leave an uncompressed set of files available.  You must not compress some files such as the NAM, which is already optimized.  So, good luck.

If you have your files in your Plugins folder in separate folders, then each folder shows up as a different file in the DatPacker.  You can repack these individual folders while leaving the rest of your files alone.  You can even create subfolders under Plugins_Compressed and use the DatPacker to pack plugins into those.  (This comes in handy with very large Plugins folders.)  All in all, the DatPacker is very flexible in letting you decide how you want to pack your files.  Please see the documentation for details.

I read some where that the creator of this tool is no longer active, and I didn't want to create a new topic because it has a high chance of being over looked.

I received this error message when attempting to datpack one of my plugins folders. Funny thing is, the items that are shown in the error message have been previously packed at one point.

What could possibly be wrong with these particular files for them to have prompted an error message?

From a general operating standpoint, is it possible that your pathnames are too deep?

    Invalid settings in the exemplars.

CS$$4_5x2_DavidsonBlock_DN_GROW.dat lacks pollution radii information in the building exemplar, for example. These need to be fixed for the Datpack to work.

    That's good to hear. :)

Seeing as the problem's been solved and it was an older topic, I'll close this one now...
