The RHW-10S Cable Stayed Bridge is still bugged

2lu2d81.jpg

Are you already discontinuing the attachment fixes? Those were handy for people who have slow internet connections. NAM 31.1 for me took 1 hour to download due to immense size and don't want to download that long again just for fixing some bugs. If you already discontinued the attachment fix, I guess I have to upgrade my internet connection. :P

Well, I just made this quick fix. There were still missing two exemplar files. Below is a quick fix (warning: DO NOT delete the original bridge!) which should be put into "Network Addon Mod\Additional Bridges\Real Highway Bridges"

Okay, here's another bug that I found:

2wrjdap.jpg

It has the correct placement string, but when plopped, it's blank. And also, I can't seem to plop 8C cosmetic pieces on starters. Will there be another attachment fix for this? :)

No, that involves modifying the NAM Controller, which is way harder to fix.

Well, will the blank 8C cosmetic piece be fixable by attachment? :) If you think that I repeated my question, forgive me a thousand times! ;)

So, what happened to the L2 RHW fillers? I can’t find them beyond L2 RHW-2.

No. This is really a RUL0 related issue (and I think I found it. The IDs were set wrong with only one digit set to 8 instead of 9).

Erm, I'm probably being incredibly dense, but how do I get the NAM with euro textures? I installed, then uninstalled and did a custom installation, but I didn't see the option anywhere during the process, and now I have US road textures. The documentation doesn't explain where I can get the euro textures to replace the US ones. *cringes in anticipation of inevitable backlash*

Can't tell you exactly where the option is, but it is there. Expand the submenus by clicking on the cross, you'll find it eventually.

Thanks. I went very carefully through every option looking for it and couldn't see it - there was a left hand drive option but that didn't seem to include it. I'll uninstall and try again >.<

Okay I'm an idiot, feel free to delete these posts or whatever to protect my precious reputation as a monster of intellect

A couple of questions before I install this new version of the NAM....

On the it specifically states [blue emphasis mine]:

"YOU DO NOT NEED TO UNINSTALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS, UNLESS YOU'VE CHANGED THE DEFAULT INSTALLATION FOLDER OR DATPACKED A PREVIOUS VERSION. THE INSTALLER HAS NEW FEATURES BUILT IN TO DO THIS FOR YOU."

But in the documentation that comes with the download, it states:

"If you have any of the following Transit related items, mods, bugfixes, files:

  •  a previous version of the NetworkAddonMod.dat file
  •  a previous version of the NetworkAddonMod_AutoPrompt_Optional.dat file
  •  a previous version of the NetworkAddonMod_ANT_Plugin_Beta.dat file
any NetworkAddonMod related file that pre-dates this version (check & compare the Date/Time Stamp of the files involved for this, especially if you’re having problems)
  • any outdated versions of the RHW (Rural/Real Highway Mod)
  • any outdated versions of the SAM (Street Addon Mod)
  • any outdated versions of the HSRP (High Speed Rail Project)
  • any outdated versions of the STR (Single Track Rail)
  • any outdated versions of the NWM (Network Widening Mod)
  • any outdated versions of Custom Bridges by jeronij, Fukuda and smoncrie
  • any outdated versions of custom puzzle pieces
  • the7trumpet's transit related mods, bugfixes
  • Redlotus' transit related mods, bugfixes
  • Redlotus' overpasses
  • Darkmatter's transit related mods
  • hailman's Variable Route Buses Plugin
  • you use anyone else’s transit related mods
  • or have modified any transit related files yourself
Please be sure to remove any & all of these above files from the Plugins folder before attempting to use this Network Addon Mod, otherwise conflicts will arise and some items may not work properly or as intended."

So I'm confused.

1.  If I don't have to uninstall anything, why do I need to remove any of the items listed in the documentation that comes with the NAM?  I have 6 different instances of NetworkAddonMod.dat (numbered as NetworkAddonMod1.dat through NetworkAddonMod6.dat) in my Plugins.  Should I still manually remove them before trying to install the new NAM?

2.  Does the RTMT count as a transit related mod which needs to be removed??  That would totally screw up the layout of my road system with the transit stations I already have in place.

Sorry...not trying to be difficult.  Just looking for some clarification.

The old HTML documentation is deprecated in most instances.  Ignore it.  The ReadFirst document and the PDF User's Guides are the up-to-date resources.

RTMT is transit-related, but it does not include any stations that are already included in the NAM.  It'll remain a NAM-certified separate package, and there's no need to remove it.

After looking I didn't see this in any post. When I place the "RHW-4 Type A1 Wide Exit" It does this:

MacArthurVillage-Mar16001366580792_zpsce

It actually worked once but I haven't been able to make it work again. :???:

Edit - Ok, found out how I made it work that one time. when you place the ramp by itself it works fine. You can then drag the highway from both ends. However, if you place the ramp on an already built highway you get the dredded sinkhole. Maybe this helps in figuring out what may be wrong.

 Bad case of Prop Pox,

Never had the issue until 31.1(with 180 controllers) Kept previous NAM  as you locked 31 to update....

So after checking every plugin, 1 by 1   and then going through everything twice,   as a final "TO BE SHORE"  I did this...

Uninstalled Deluxe completely then reinstalled... checked game using large tutorial city ... O.K.

Reinstalled NAM31.1...(ONLY).... checked game using the large tutorial city... prop pox cleans out half the city,

(Used standard Pox fix....saved low graphics, loaded high... worked)

Tried in a fresh NEW CITY worked fine until I tried to place Viaduct/Elevated/Mono and High Speed Rail, then the Pox

I did this with only the NAM installed,

All other Mod's and my completed cities were moved and saved to the desktop before the game was uninstalled, leaving no doubt that the NAM was at fault,

I currently have all previous city's and Plugins reinstalled EXCEPT the NAM and have no issues...

I could, and most likely am, be wrong but it looks like a poor texture issue with something in the NAM..

any help on fixing this ????

EDIT:

Also noticed my Airports/Power Stations/and some high way interchange Ramps/Overpasses go missing  when placing

any building or viaduct from the rail menu, or HSPR buildings from transit menu, simply switching between menu's

after placing items has a negative effect....

Bad case of Prop Pox...

Having been a victim of this malady, I know that there are never any good cases of the prop pox.

You can be assured that we will give this our highest priority.

I think the first place to start is, What's your hardware configuration?

I'm sure that others on the NAM Team will have additional questions with time.

Glad you asked...(recently upgraded)

THE BASICS:

       Gen3 i7 3.5ghz Quad Core

       nVidia GeForce GTX680 3.0

       16 Gig 1600Mhz ddr3

        1 Tb hard drive

        DirectX 11

Windows 7...( yes I no, but it's still more stable )

(had a local tech build it up for me based on an over-clocked Alien i7x6 System)

More then able to run SC4, So it's not hardware,

Had some trouble getting it to run on the multi-core through Steam, but SC4 Launcher solves this...

I realise also that,( in this case ) top end systems tend to mean more issues, But, as said I have never had any problem before

31.1 install,  I have more trouble running SC2013..

Hence bringing it to your attention,

And to be honest.. it's not that big a problem, I just have to use an older version until you can fix it... and that SUX'S :(

Already solved yesterday ;)

That's odd. The Prop Pox never gets triggered by loading or during gameplay, only after saving. The Prop Pox is caused by the game not being able to store all the props in a save file, causing them to disappear. This seems to be a more severe bug, one that looks like the Prop Pox, but it is not the Prop Pox as we know it.

Also, additional screenshots (test shots before the Pox and after the Pox) will provide us some details ;)

Best,

Maarten

You do have the "classic" specs for trouble--16GB RAM and a newer i7.

Have you tried running the 4GB patch on the game?  There's details on that in the ReadFirst document in the download.  It gives the game a bit more room to breathe on systems with more RAM.  Also, which particular items are you using when things start to go awry?  Your post seemed to indicate there was funny business involving some Rail-related items (e.g. HSRP).

On a more positive note, I can offically say that the two reported "Sinkhole-to-China" issues involving RHW on/offramps have been fixed.

That can't really be Prop Pox, we don't include in the NAM any of the type of Exemplar known to cause it and the timing is off. What is happening to you sounds more like the game messing up the graphics memory.

Do you know if your system is equipped with a Virtu (or similar) chip on your Motherboard and has been setup to use it? The game might not even be recognising your GTX680 and using the Intel HD4000 Series graphics chip on your CPU instead which has no dedicated RAM.

Also, use the 4GB memory patcher mentioned by Tarkus, it may mitigate the problem.

 Bad case of Prop Pox...

We have an unusual case here where the symptoms sound exactly like Prop Pox, as does the temporary fix, but the symptoms leading up to it don't sound like anything we've known to cause Prop Pox.  So I think the first thing we have to do is to determine whether or not you really have the Prop Pox.  Please download and install SC4Savegame Explorer (if you haven't already).  (If you don't already have an account on the LEX, you'll need to sign up for one in order to be able to download files.)  Next, start up SC4Savegame Explorer.  In the left pane, navigate to the city that appears to be poxed and double click on it.  Eventually, some information will appear in the top pane.  In the Type column, find the entry with type 0x2977aa47 and double click on it.  After a little while, a new window will come up.  About the same time, the bottom pane in the main window will fill with data.  It will tell you directly whether or not your city is poxed.

Whatever the results are, a screenshot that includes this bottom pane would be very helpful.

Look   :thumb: A BIG THANKS :thumb:  to you all for the help

But I've had it with uploading and downloading, (and then having to cram crap little programs as dependices on to my pc) just to fix a minor problem,

(minor (to me)because all I have to do is use the previous version)

I've only came back to SC4 recently in retrospect, it's not going to ruin my day if I have to use the older version

I have seen only one other entry with same symptoms ...

Exactly the same only I get it when I plop any building from the rail menu or the monorail/HSR system, those screen shots are the same as what I get

how the rail creates this problem I don't no, don't really care... I Still have NAM working on my system.

I don't mean to be rude so excuse me if I sound a bit short,

    BUT,...

I have spent the day downloading, installing, reinstalling, moving files back and forth, then forth and back in many different configurations,

I must have re-dun the NAM install 40+ times each in a different way, not to mention the removal and reinstatement of a few hundred mods.

NOT HOW I PLANED TO SPEND MY MUNDAY OFF

I just wanted to bring it to your attention, Im happy to use the older NAM

Again thankyou for the assistance, and sorry for the shortness

Hope you fix it somehow, will keep watch

EDIT:

To take screen shots or anything else I must first remove all my plugins to the dashboard,

including the older NAM so as not to over  wright it, Then reinstall NAM-31.1 , take the shots use the save program,

upload it all to here then go back and put it all back again,  :rage:  AGAIN :rage:

Regarding Monorail pylons, if you installed the High Speed Rail Project, pylon disappearance on Monorail is normal, as their return upon clicking.  The Monorail pylons interfere with the HSRP pylons, so there's a file in there that disables automatic pylon placement associated with the Monorail network, and another that allows placement of those pylons with a T21 exemplar.  What's happening is that clicking is activating the T21s.

As far as High Monorail and CTDs, that's something that Mac users running OS X 10.7 or later have experienced, but I've not heard of it happening on an old PC like that.  You may be right that it's a cleanup-related matter.

Killing what relict transportation items I could find seems to have done the trick for stopping the crash-to-desktop nonsense.  I still need to do some adjusting (discovered that the custom interchanges for the default highways didn't install), but by and large, I'm quite happy; hells, just having better bridges for my monorails is worth it.

EDIT:  Just read further down the thread, and found that the missing custom interchanges is a bug.  Bugger. :(

Has this been reported yet?

simcity4201304221809534.jpg

At first I thought it might be because I placed the HSRP track next to tan elevated rail viaduct so I place another stretch over the highway away from the elevated heavy rail viaduct and still no dice.  I can;t tell what it is trying to do there, It goes from elevated high speed rail to monorail(I get that, reversion, but what I don't get is...)then it changes to some network I have never seen before, it is not elevated light rail and it is not elevated heavy rail normal elevated light rail.  I have no clue as to why it changed to a completely different rail network after the monorail.  I tried to place starter pieces back on it to get it to change into high speed rail and no dice there either.  So basically I cannot work around this, this breaks high speed rail, the high speed rail station and anything else that comes with high speed rail, this glitch breaks the whole package.

I also want to note here that I am still getting fence props showing up in the closest and second closest zooms on my elevated light rail and I have check and re-installed several times to make sure that the fence props have been turned off.

That is two complaints in one post.  I guess I can deal with the fence props on the elevated light rail.

I am going to uninstall the high speed rail and all of it's components in the meantime, man I really wanted this.  If I cannot cross my highways than this is going to be purely just either a downtown rail or just a suburban/rural rail, If I cannot cross my highways than I cannot use it, as it will be trapped inside or outside of highway loops, I guess it was just not meant to be, I will just stay with monorail.
