What is the best way to get commodities from one city to another?  I understand that the two cities must be connected.

I am currently playing the 3-city region by myself and want to get all the resources from my industrial/commodity city exported  directly through my trade city?  Is this possible with the current simulation issues and the "broken" global market system?

Well this being an MMO, there are a multitude of ways to automatically... just kidding, you have to manually gift it. And gifts get lost in the aether some of the time, and are delayed most of the time. Luckily the global market isn't implemented yet either and everything buys for the same price it sells, so the easiest way is just to sell from one city and buy in the other.

I basically need to setup an entire trade operation in my commodity city?

Currently, my trade city has a maxed out electronics industry.  What I am taking from all of this is as follows:

It is impossible to have a city with maxed out trade specialization with no factories/industry/commodities/etc.  Thoughts?

I'm not sure how trading can be a specialization on its own considering the fluctuations in prices don't vary day to day in game. I've always built the Trading HQ in addition to the Metals/Oil/Electronics HQs so you can build the Trade Depot with the Commerce Division and not worry about the Trading HQ after that.

While you can specialize two neighboring cities in mining / smelting and electronics there's now way to directly setup an automated supply chain. I simply just set one city to import alloy/plastic and the other to export.

Bit of a bummer that EA make such a fuss about the requirements for online play then don't actually deliver on any of the benefits of region play...

City specialisation would work much better if the region played a bigger part... having all my products / raw materials vanish on those mystery trains is laughable... when we were promised so much more

Those were my same exact thoughts MayorQuimbie...  What is the entire point of having region play if I cannot "directly setup an automated supply chain" between my specializations.

Cities can be connected by road, train and water (river or sea).. I'm playing that 16 cities region with 4 great works (forget the name) with 2 friends where  we have to provide TV sets to build Arcology. Problem is that city  A, creating TV sets, is not directly connected to the Arcology. So city A sends TV sets by truck  to city B, where city B sends by ships (city B as a Trade Port connected to river) the TV sets to city C (also have the same trade port as B).. Than city C supplies Arcology with the TV sets.. City A and C don't have direct access because A don't have water access. It takes time but it works.. Also to haste TV sets sent to the Arcology, city A, wich generates lots of profits, gifts money to B where B sends is to C.. Than C finaly imports TV sets..

There isn't a best way.  There is an only way.  Gifting.   It really is a bummer that automated or even manual trade routes can not be set up between cities.

    Future release?

if they make it to have intercity trade in one region they have to make an incentive to buying from the region instead of the global market

for example, make it cost to import from or export to the global market, therefore when you import or export in the region you get a lower price to buy resources and make more to export

but I don't really like that idea to begin with, I'm fine with importing from and exporting to the global market since it's the same price all around and the only good thing to gift is money, especially if you or someone else starts a new city and your city has extra money

for me I usually build trade HQ in addition to metals, oil, or electronics HQ so I have access to the trade port lots sooner and can focus my other HQ on production instead of the trade port lot division
