You can trick the taxpayers by increasing or decreasing taxes at exactly the right time. With this you can get huge amounts of money and increase your density easily without repercussions.

  • Taxes are counted at and paid for at 3 minutes past the hour (xx:03 every hour).
  • Pause the game at 2 minutes past the hour (xx:02) and increase all tax rates to maximum
  • Unpause until it's 3 minutes past the hour (xx:03), receive the money and quickly pause the game again.
  • Return the tax rates to normal.

Also if you want you can set the tax rates to 0% to boost the happiness of your RCI and increase their density relatively quickly. Just make sure you set it at the right timing so you dont suffer losses.

I dont think this should work, since taxes take money from the buildings money pool.

Yes you get the money, but it should make people leave.

don't be late on pausing after collecting the taxes else you get a lot of buildings saying they are "still mad about the recent high taxes" if you delay the pause too long to reduce the taxes again.  So make sure its all done while game is paused (raising and lowering taxes) to avoid any delay in getting taxes back down.

Personally I find it rather pointless since money flows like wine in SC13 once you've plopped anything that has the opportunity to make you money anyway then the money comes in faster than I can spend it on such small maps.

There is no need to be so careful about it.  If I ever need money I just jack up taxes to 20% for 4-5 hours and no one leaves.

Does that also mean it does not lower their happiness levels when a building states that they are still upset about the recent high taxes?

... raising taxes still takes money from the R money, while not leaving it high past 12am (midnight) will prevent them from leaving due to high taxes. but they still lose money. if you balance your tax correctly there should be no reason to lower it or raise it because u will always have the maximum cash your city can provide. (well maybe not from $$$ because they complain about nothing.

the only way this is a bug, cheat or exploit is, it helps people who cant get a balance or who are trying to cheat the system by having lower taxes to raise happiness. as it is a single player game you would only be cheating your self

Actually read from a developer that "a way to make a quick buck and not having to get a bond was to rise taxes to 20 for 2 ticks (2hs) and put it back to where it was and people wouldn't complain".

That's a different tactic altogether, though. Doing it that way will definitely decrease happiness.
