  1. Taxation Cheat

    It works. Its a bug. Doesn't make people leave.
  2. I had no problems loading up on the new servers they released today. NAE2 was giving me troubles so moved to the new servers. Also, clear your simcityuserdata folder before logging in if your having issues, fixes a few problems.
  3. Anno 2070, first toughts

    I liked and disliked the anno series equally. I don't play anno 2070, uninstalled it when it turned into the same gameplay as the other anno series. I really dislike the fact that I need to plop 50 or so resource nodes and then plop 9 different gather points for each of those 50 resource nodes. It gets old quick especially and importing doesn't cover anything that I really need. I understand growing to my expanding city, but im growing my resources and not my city, and then I dread for my city to level up because then i'll have to spend hours rebuilding new resources to meet demands. If they simplified the resource part of the game and scaled the maps to be much larger then this game would have a much bigger following. I love the trade aspect, and the travel points, routes, fighting, ect but the resource building really blows.
  4. Anno 2070, first toughts

    I liked anno 1404 for 2 days then got very tired of playing a continuous game. Adding farm after farm after farm gets super tedious. After the two days my math calculated about 500+ farms manually placed and 20 trade routes set and I got 200 more people and had to build another 20 resource buildings to catch up with the needs of the people adding about 80-100 more manually placed farms and probably another 6 ships to run trade routes. It gets old very quick. I dunno, the game wasn't for me. If they removed placing the 3-5 farms for each resource building I would play again. Hopefully they do away with that in the new one.
  5. Futuristic Empire-Builder: Anno 2070

    I dunno, I just finished a few days of Anno 1404 and while I liked the game it burnt me out very very quick. It just gets ridiculous and no fun trying to get so many different productions going to meet with supply and demand of the citizens. It feels more like a production simulator than city builder. I got tired of manually placing 4-8 farms per each of the 15-20 farm types of each production chain. After calculating it out I was at around 2k farms manually placed in a few hour game of 10k people on my main island, which I would have to double and triple very soon and still open up different trade goods for new tiers of noblemen. I hope they change that formula and focus more on other things in the game. I mean i would still waste a few hours playing=0)
  6. So, i've come to hate the Grassy area ploppable with a passion. I tend to put them between single and 4x4 houses alot to make things look nice and for the effect of the park but am tired of dropping them one at a time. Is there anything that gives me the same park affect of each tile but is draggable over an area? Like where i can zone a piece of grassy area? Or am i going about it all wrong in building my residential areas?
  7. I just got back into the simcity world after taking a small break and had the "no job" problem a day ago and i couldn't figure out why. My main problem was I started plopping medium sized suburb clusters (20x20 blocks) with 1 main road thinking to my avenue connection and started getting massive abandonement. Linked a few more roads from the cluster and it fixed my problem. I had more than enough jobs in the neighboring town also. The problem wasn't that there were too little jobs but rather a traffic/congestion problem and they started giving up as they were looking for those jobs. Also, my R$ has been completely moving out of my current suburb area. Give the area plenty of water and education and a few parks along with no pollution and those R$ will move out quick. Ive been building medium residential zoning in my industrial town and ive all but made up for lost R$ numbers as well as started a small farm town to take a break from zoning suburbs and industrial blocks. The farm town so far is at 10k and just R$ and its been helping with the high RDI need for them. You need a balance of R$ R$$ and R$$$ otherwise your region is going to stagnate or create another block like the abandonment. Even wose is that it will stagnate your skyscrapers when your ready to build them. That tutorial is great but it doesn't tell you alot of things but there is enough reading on these forums to help learn everything else, as well as playing and finding everything out on the way. Also, make sure you download the essential addons as they will make your life easier: NAM june 2009 (make sure you set it up the right way also with the Z mod) CAM Also there are bus/subway mods that allow the placement of stops ontop of roads that make things alot less complicating when placing transportation. And to save you alot of headaches although some might consider it cheating: A super polution cleaning park lot a money tree a non polluting power source farming multiplier mod industrial multiplier mod Hospital/school range and capacity multiplier (less schools, same cost, more space for zoning) You don;t have to always use it but its nice when testing or playing around and the farming/industrial multiplier saves you alot of space and time in undustrial/farm zones. You can search here or on sc4devotion for the addons.
  8. yeah the whole kit and kaboodle. game, patch, everything. Its bizaar. i guess i just have to save more often.
  9. Been through all the posts all over this site and started googling and still noone seems to have this problem. Comp specs: intel 3.2 Pent D dual core 2 gigs ram (1 gig might be broken or disfunctional now that i rethink this problem) nvidia 8800 gts All drivers are up to date. And i dunno what else you would need to help. First Problem: Its been happening ever since installing SC4Deluxe + RH. Sometimes, randomly, when i go to save and move to region from a city, my computer screen freezes, sometimes saves sometimes doesn't. The arrow usually turns from the ingame to a small one then to the large ingame one (no hourglass as usual) then the screen freezes and gives me ding sounds when i click. And doesn't move to the region view. I can alt+tab out and go back in but then i get a black screen with the mouse cursor which i can move. The save is also random, sometimes it will save, sometimes it won't. It's not a graphics problem, i switched graphics cards to a new one mid way through using SC4 and same problem. I also reinstalled after the card switch. It's also not a game problem because i reinstalled a few times, so its not a corrupt file. Ive run in both duo core modes for the game, defragged, tried it before plugins and with plugins. It feels like something is delayed between the process of moving from the save or from city view to the region view. Ive been saving before exiting to region from now on but it still sucks. I forget sometimes and losing a half hours worth of laying out RCI lots sucks. I also tried it before and after the virtual memory fix. Second Problem: Ingame bug i think. I have an area in a new map filling up then going empty, its only in one corner. Can't figure out why. Jobs are super close, its a med sized map, insustry is to the north of the map, the problem area is in the bottom left side. Its been saying long travel times when people are getting jobs 12-15 small spaces away and they abandon. All my other maps i never had this problem and its only in this city. Anyways, dunno if its a bug with nam or not. I am running NAM and CAM and a bunch of other plugins. Cam and NAM are the only ones i could think would make a difference in the game mechanics that affect travel time. The area is littered with way too many buses after i got tired of seeing them abandon and a train station was placed. still same problem.
  10. So, its been 2 weeks since i reinstalled the game and i can't let go of my mouse. Mind you before i found this site i didn't know what was going on in the game nor did i have the patience to find out without buying a prima guide. Simcity was played for about 2 hours before i lost patience and it ended up sitting collecting dust on my shelf. So, before I get started i would like to say "Thank you Simtropolis.com for making my life an addictive hell" =0) Ive been through 3-4 renditions of a region/cities and each time i find a better or new approach and restart the region. And since ive been restarting ive been remaking the same map, thinking about zone sizes, relations, placements, more BMP config files im playing with, cleaning up bad rendering off the map files when simcity converts the BW pics..... Region planning as well as city planning, transport planning, zone planning, planing when i will plan planning..... Then i go look at the city planner, journal topics, how to's and everything else with a picture posted and go "OOhhhh! AAahhhh! Purdy!" And that makes me rethink the way i paved that suburb out or planned the main street in that city, or why i didn't give myself enough room to add a massive awesome highway like that guy did in that post there and and nand....I HAVE TOO MUCH FREEDOM AND IM FREAKING OUT! So, I started a post...... And I am real curious how people are doing all the cool stuff i see happening in the show it off pictures? Do you all meticulously place everything the way i see it in the pictures and it all magically works out? Or do you all go back in after you lay a base network and remake sections of the city without crashing it all? I spent alot of time making cool windy suburbs just to destroy them because of bad planning, or something else (like not making money/traffic longterm). I dunno if i should lay down quick blockwork for suburb area's and then after i get a good feel for direction and placement and then after my region has about 200k-500k people and all area's making good income go back and slowly remake those area's. I mainly doubt myself after i forget stuff like highways and adding one ends up crashing the city's budget as it tries to rebuild. And that ends up turning into a "destroy city" spam on all my cities since they all support each other significantly.
  11. Hah. Thats so awesome. You planning on a full plop replica or will you set it up so each city makes a profit or compliments the rest of the region game mechanic wise?
  12. Ive been reading the transportation tutorial as well as anything else i can find here which are super helpful. Im currently playing with the build sequence and how to work regional play with a test region before i build my main region aesthetically. So ive been going through quick builds and placements to see what will go wrong and stuff. I don't want to ruin a brand new region due to something stupid i did after i spend alot of time making it aesthetically pleasing as well as functional and making all the pieces work. Ive currently been not placing MT anywhere, and i know thats a problem as im running into it now on my test region. And thats where the first question comes in. Should i build all types, bus, rail and subway all together or segment their build to an area, high city = subway, med sized city = heavy rail with buses for spread, residential = main rail depot with buses mainly or highways?? Don't know if i should start from the beginning adding rail and buses all over to prepare everything for a long time down the road for city builds. Ive read all the help and tutorial but noone has stated the best way to work it or what types of MT should be used on what type of city. Secondly that links onto a second question, if i started destroying area's and heavily modifying my old cities in the test region, will i destroy my region? residential area's are easy, i can expand and then destroy what i need to make room. But some med sized cities each building takes out a big chunk out of my pop and income. Any thoughts? I don't want to crash a region due to the fact that i can't save it as a whole. The only way i know to save a region is recopying the folder under a different name every time i want to save to test things. And lastly ive been noticing on my 3 cities that the RCI demands are a little off from each other. I have a suburb, industrial/power area and a med sized city in the works (which is beeing hurt by travel times currently). industrial is showing heavy commerce demands on all tiers and isn't linked to the suburb or med city. suburb/med city are related to each other as far as all RCI demands go (except high industrual demands for some reason). med city isn't linked to any of the RCI demands of industrial, and suburbs are linked to the demands on med city for industrial needs but not commercial while beeing linked to commercial in the med city. If that made sense. they all are linked with either one side or two sides the way the zones are set up. Is it a bug in the game or am i doing something wrong? I have a hard time getting some buy/sell demands for power and trash sometimes due to the bug and i don't know why, but its been making me think somethings broken in game. Oh and one more i forgot. How far away will people travel outside their city for work or demands? is it only directly adjacent? or will they travel 2 or 3 cities away for work or needs? or how is that determined (travel times?) ? Just a few things ive been thinking about as im planning what should go where and when and stuff.

    Wow....=0)
  14. Hey everyone. Started playing again a few days ago. Im amazed that there's still such a great and active community for such an old game. Really happy i found you guys. Recently reinstalled SC4RH and started to play again, found you guys, and that opened up a plethora of knowledge that i didn't know about on regional play. So for the past few days ive been testing, reading, doing more testing, browsing for mods, planning, replanning, ect...... Its amazing how great this game is when you don't play it like the rest of the simcity's, IE. use one section to place everything and try to make it grow. So, a quick question. I donated to the site =0) and am waiting for the CD's to arrive. What mods are super beneficial to hold me over till the CD's come in? I downloaded the NAM and traffic plugin, and was going to download the night/day fix but am worried about custom buildings and it not working. Havent installed them yet but i will later once i start working on the region later tonight. Also anyone know a good place to download regions? I had a link to a good grayscale source on existing area's set up to import into the game but lost it and can't find it again. Anyways, Wanted to say hi, should have a post up on progress soon =0)
