    So, its in serbia?

And its on a river... so citys in Serbia on a river. Possibly on the Danube.

So using those criteria, I think it is: Pancevo, Serbia.

Congratulations, simwario.  Mystery City #7 is Novi Sad, Serbia (Yugoslavia).  Here's some facts!

    Novi Sad Facts
Novi Sad is a city in northeastern Serbia (Yugoslavia), about 25 kilometers east of the border with Croatia.  The city lies on the Danube River and is the capital of the province of Vojvodina.  The city was devastated by NATO bombing in 1999; all three of its major bridges over the Danube were destroyed, the city's oil refineries ruined, and neighborhoods cluster-bombed.  Some 300,000 people live in Novi Sad.

Congratulations, mies.  Mystery City #8 is Luxembourg, Luxembourg.  We here at MCE love facts, so let's spew a few!

    Luxembourg Facts
Luxembourg is the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, a small state wedged between France, Germany, and Belgium.  Because of its unfortunate position, the city's history is dominated by foreign conquests and occupations; Luxembourg as an independent nation did not emerge until the 1800s and did not become more than a pushover for Germany until after World War II with its inception in the EEC.  Luxembourg City is home to around 83,000 people and is a center of finance and government.  Luxembourg grew up around Luxembourg Castle, which became the center of the state.  Today, Luxembourg is the home of Radio Luxembourg, the city's university, and several EU governmental centers, including the European Court of Justice and the European Investment Bank.

Ah, no correct country guesses.  I suppose I should tell you that this city is in a country that is not a former Warsaw Pact nation.

Let's here how y'all did from the non-gymnastics Olympic judges.  Ouch, 3.2...

Obviously, some more work needs to be put into the country-guessing...

Keep trying...the correct country has yet to be guessed.
