Introduction
Welcome to Mystery City:  Europe, the successor to The_Dalai_Llama's Mystery City:  World games.  For more World cities, please visit Mystery City:  World.  Mystery City:  Europe will focus only on European cities and those visible on the map, which can be viewed above.

Rules and Tips
The rules of Mystery City:  Europe are as follows:
1.  My say is final; feel free to PM me if there is a disputed call.
2.  Only 2 guesses per post.
3.  You may guess again any time I post.  Otherwise, a 12-hour post rule is in effect.
4.  Guessing may consist of a city or country or both.  A wrong city in a guess does not negate a correct country, but a wrong country does negate a correct city.  You do not need to state the country once it has been confirmed.
5.  No city requests, please.

According to your rule #10 I went to the local police and they said I should just give it a go.

Klaipeda in Lithuania (well, I never heard of it before either)

Congratulations, raindog.  Mystery City #1 is Klaipeda, Lithuania.  Let's find out more!

Klaipeda (formerly called Memel) is a city in western Lithuania on the Baltic Sea.  The city is a shipping and fishing center.  Klaipeda was founded in the 600s and destroyed in 1252 by the Teutons, who built a fortress there called Memelburg.  In 1629 the city was captured by the Swedish; they were forced out in 1635 by the Prussians, who controlled the city until 1919.  In 1923 Memel was passed to Lithuania and renamed Klaipeda.  Today the city is home to around 300,000 people.

Well, let me say that it was a lucky guess (or lucky google).
I hope I can continue my lucky streak, so here comes:

This second city is perhaps Kiew in Russia Ukraine.

Congratulations, erka.  Right country, right city - Mystery City #3 is Izmir, Turkey.

Izmir, formerly Smyrna, is a city on the western coast of Turkey on the Aegean Sea.  The city is over five thousand years old.  Izmir was once the capital of the region of Ionia in the 7th century BCE and was a key city in the Persian Empire later on.  The city is the birthplace of the poet Homer.  Herodotus, a famous historian, holds that the city was founded by the Aeolians but later captured by the Ionians.  For thousands of years Izmir was one of the Mediterranean's most important cities, up until 1922 when most of the city was destroyed in a massive fire.  Izmir never fully recovered.  The city was also one of the world's most cosmopolitan, but the Turk-Greek war of 1919-1922 and harsh taxation on certain ethnic groups in the 1940s has harmed this.  Today, Izmir is Turkey's third-largest city, after Istanbul and Ankara, and encloses famous names such as Ephesus and Permagon in its borders.

Note:  Any city in a country that is at least partially in Europe is viable.  This game might even have Vladivostok as an MC.

    Scoring
    erka <> +10

Leaving Izmir, we're now headed for...

    Mystery City 4

seems they drive on the wrong side of the road here, so I guess the UK, with Ireland as a close second.

Vladivostok and cities in Europe. Hmmmm. That don't compute for me.

I dunno, they look like they could be one-way streets to me, so I will guess Mechelen (Malines), Belgium or Roosendaal, Netherlands.
