Also how about some sheriff offices? If we just want a small town why not have some small police stations? A sheriff office and some smaller stations would be nice.

 There already is a small police station, that being said for a small town I think it would be cool to have a third option a small house like structure with 3 police officers (two that patrol at any given time of the day and one detective that can deal with small issues) the building shouldnt be upgradable and the police cars should be what you would expect a small town car to be like

Yeah. Thats kind of what I'm talking bout. A small-er police station with a court house. If any of have seen the Andy Griffith Show you'll probably understand it better. But I think it should be slight upgradeable. Not to the extent that other structures in the game can be but somewhat upgrade able. Add in a courthouse or offices on top. 1 or 2 more jail cells. Something along those lines. I'm kind of going to try to make Mayberry (from the Andy Griffith Show) in the game.

Military base (Should use police precinct model)

 

If you can change modules then...

 

Change police tower to Military command tower

 

Change detective wing with military police wing

 

Replace police cars with hummers

 

Crime prevention center = Recruitment center

 

Jail cells = Barracks

 

And different signs.

 

Also can you try make it on the custom content tab? I really want someone to make a military base so yea.

Hey I was wondering if anyone could make a mod that changes freight trains, (Sort of like all of the ones for passener trains). Right now I have to deal with the COT freight train but I dont like it at all and I just want a nice looking realistic freight train in my cities to accompany te passanger trains and even more variety to my railroads. If anyone one could help with this that'd be great. Thanks. :)

the freight train uses only a single entry: "Freight Train" 0x00b1b104-0x40e1c600-0x2111280f - so any change will only swap out the passenger compartments for a custom freight model. There is apparently room for up to 4 different cars (vehicle models), but they only use one. It could be that there are 4 different views for different viewing environments .. not sure.

I think some people have already asked about this... but more awesome fast food restaurants like Papa Johns, Little Caesars, Wendy's, etc. Everyone loves McD's and BK, and I think we'd all love and super super SUPER appreciate some more!! :)

Since I can't figure out mass transit for the life of me a mod to help us figure out what buildings are being influenced by bus stops/park and ride/streetcar stops would be super handy.  Either I'm doing something wrong (and have been for the year and a half I've been playing) and placing stops in an inappropriate fashion or the game has a funny way of handling mass transit.  I don't know why tourists insist on getting off at the university and why shuttle buses keep telling me they're bringing riders to the neighbor when it's too early in my region to have intercity mass transit.  I know there's a green AoE for the street but is there some sort of "pineline/sink" the stops follow?  Being able to visualize the kind of places the agents will be interacting with would be super helpful.  Otherwise, I'm zoning wrong, placing stops wrong, or the mass transit is just wonky and I'll have to simply get over it and stop trying to figure it out...   

I'm a dummy so I'll add this too.  Is there an overlay that exists (or can it exist if it doesn't) that shows what wealth level each shopper Sim is.  Any time you click a Sim it just shows one Simoleon in the pop up box.  It makes it hard to keep track of shoppers because from the dialogue box every shopper appears to be seeking low wealth shopping.  I'm not sure how helpful this would be but it's something that annoys the heck out of me.

I second more Fast Food Chains and other big box stores that are custom ones becuase Sim City4 has them but can only replace ones not add ones to that game and can't play City Life latest one and has American Restaruants and so on.

anyone currently working on a mod involving adding the various power modules for the specialization buildings; such as coal generators for the coal mines or oil gen for oil well? I just thought how interesting it might be if the mega towers had basement levels, they'd be perfect for various service levels and perhaps a mining addon. the basement thing is me thinking out loud however, just came to mind

 

edit:

refinement modules such as fuel distillery, alloy smelter etc for coal, oil, ore would be even niftier

Haven't seen this anywhere...

 

You know how in C:SL, when you are drawing the road the outlines of the zoning area show as well?

 

Is there a way to mod this into SC13 to show the zoning outline when you are drawing the road? In a similar way to how when you are laying a zone, it will show the back line of the zone? This would make drawing even roads much easier IMO because the zoning guides are not accurate if you are trying to build distance between 2 different types of roads.

First, I would like to start by saying I didn't read all of this thread, so perhaps this mod has already been suggested, if so I apologize. I would like to make a mod request to add the ability to set mass transit ticket prices for: Buses, Airports, Blimps, Ferry's, Trains, and Streetcars. Buses for example could work maybe something like a 0 to 3 for a Park and Ride, a 0 to 5 for the Shuttle Bus Depot, a 0-10 max for Bus Terminal, and 0-12 Double-Decker Bus Terminal. (all of that is per rider) All you would need would be a single line entry like the tax% on the budget panel with the - and + buttons on either side, where it has a maximum amount except this price would be input when you clicked on the mass transit facility, in theory you could make multiple bus stations and charge different prices allowing you to focus on specific areas of your city. The higher your prices the less satisfied your passengers and the fewer riders you get. If you had gone through the trouble of adding enough other positive things (like parks and shops and schools and hospitals) you could essentially charge full price, but u'd have to work for it. It would make it more difficult to manage each small neighborhood to get the best density vs happiness (business density for tourists and residential density for your city's sims) to maximize profit.

 

That way we can make money off of our tourists and residential population. This would basically create an entirely new specialization from an existing feature. It would also off-set the cost of other non-money-making services in our cities or if you went through the trouble of making a service city it would net you a nice hourly income. I think non-tourist cities who want to specialize in residential income and focus on maxing out population (a very common goal for many simcity gamers) to increase mass-transit income. I also think it would make the game a bit more realistic, as most cities in reality either tourist or residential gain money through mass transit, generally this is offset by other service industries, but I think there is a huge need for it. 

 

I think that this could even become one of the more popular mods on here because I think most simcity players get tired of the small amount of city specializations and sometimes would like something else to do especially towards the endgame. This could work best with: Culture/Gambling/Omega Co./Industry/Commercial cities/Population/Sim-Tower/Education. And above all I think it really fills in a niche that the game has shockingly overlooked.

I tried searching but came up empty handed... Are there any texture mods that replace home models? I'd say the medium and high wealth are ok but for low wealth there are a lot of trailers. I'd rather just have smaller looking homes than trailers everywhere for the low wealth citizens.

Hey everyone!

 

Don't know if this has been suggested but is there a mod that speeds up building density growth rate?

 

I'm tired of starting a new city and waiting for buildings to expand and grow, they often take a while. I know that when buildings reach a certain level of happiness/profit then they increase in density. Maybe if there was a mod that lowered the amount of happiness/profit required for all buildings? Just a thought. Please let me know if there is anything. :)

Mod ideas:

1) New pedestrian bridge? Can We get one that looks like concrete or even better, can elevate using a placable so it can Look like a highway foot bridge?

2) more tree anywhere: can we expand the tree anywhere mod to include trees from other biomes? Can we add in other textures too, like maybe the flower rows seen in the parks?

3) more buildings! I'd love to just see.different skins here and there, especially on the low wealth low density homes!

4) lets go to the zoo! Not sure if it's an attraction, like an amusement park, or a education/landmark hybrid like the musesm, but it would be a.cool.addition!

Could somebody please find a way to stop these random disasters?  I just get a city going and blammo... damage galore.  And maybe a money cheat.  ;-)

fairly certain that alt+w is instant money regardless which mode of the game you're playing in. either that or somehow that cheat is enabled for me outside of sandbox mode. give it a try

universal bus stops for school and public. both bus stops would serve double duty. also, and this would be rad; if the streetcar stops served as bus stops and the maglev stops served all of the above or at least one could somehow plop maglevs on top of streetcar stops. every public stop can potientially reduce usuable plop points and i for one can't plan so far ahead this is never an issue. anyone else think this is a good idea? i think it's better than my power and refinement modules for coal, ore and oil

What I would Love to see in this game is Toll Booths For your Roads, it would increase revenue, lower traffic problems, increase use of public transport, lower fires, deaths and crime due to emergency vehicles getting through quicker. It's the 1 thing i am desperate to see !! Anyone going to take on this challenge ?? for online and offline please !

I had this in my new RCI mod but took it out before I released it. I had huge population growth, very fast industrial and commercial growth, but I realized that Ione, I hated it, and two, the problem with RCI mods is that everyone has his own opinion about what growth should be, so I left them at their defaults. I could release a fast growth version of my mod, I suppose, but I doubt that it would ever conform to anyone's expectations closely enough to be meaningfully used.

pretty sure there's a mod for that. I think it has to work with other mods to work the way you want though

It's hard enough making this game work without having limitations on where to place schools, clinics, etc because if its predetermined "wealth value". Parks are enough to set the wealth of different zones, imho.
