Ah, Italia.  It's on my bucket list but the nearest I've been is Biarriz, France.  When you are there next, get a picture of the Arch of Titus (Tito).  It is reputed to be built using the gold from the Temple of Solomon.

I figured I'd give this thread a bump , pulled out the old camera today and took a couple of pictures .

Crocus don't know it is the day after Christmas .

UkKTQym.jpg

Forsythia seems confused too .

UWxk1P5.jpg

And I couldn't leave out the Daffodils .

  18s1hFP.jpg

And a view from off the front porch , I know it is a little dark . But it is a tad gloomy today . If the weather stays this way much longer , the flowers will be blooming and the trees will be growing leaves .

I thought I would give a picture of some snow for those that didn't get to see any for Christmas and missed it , sorry it isn't yesterday .

A look at the street in front of my house , as you can see it was this past March .

@Easy Bakes Cool pics , must be a decent camera . Sparrows and red tailed hawks I see all the time . I got to see a bald eagle a couple years ago at about 10 yards . Wished I had a camera on me then , they're pretty big .

Now when I'm out and about , I'll have to carry that old camera I have with me .

You shoot Birds of Metal? I photograph Horses of Iron! (Railroad photography for those who don't know what an Iron Horse is slang for.)

Here's my RPnet account - http://www.railpictures.net/DavidH66/

Here's the photos I have up on there (I have thousands more here, but they are mostly roster shots and several of them were taken from moving vehicles.)

@Drack, I think they're sister sites. Also I used to live near the Airport for Knoxville,TN and would see all sorts of planes fly in. I didn't have a goo camera at the time though so I never could get anything that would be allowed on a site like that.

My favorite Airplane I ever photographed had to be a diverted Northwestern A330 that I think was flying from Paris to Atlanta and ended up diverting to Knoxville.

Not a good shot, but here it is

Often, great circle flights between North America and Europe wind up with emergency landing for one reason or another at Montreal or Gander.  Be glad it is not Moscow.  I think we are more hospitable here in the frozen north.

Spoiler

[<side note> Ask the people who were caught in the no landing situation during the 9/11 panic. </side note>]

If there's super bad weather in Atlanta they'll sometimes divert down to Knoxville and that was always a nice diversion from all the region jets we get in Knoxville, especially the couple of times we got Air France 777s.

I think I took that photo right after the Delta/Northwestern Merger. I assume it was actually a Delta flight. I think it came from Rome IIRC not Paris as I had mentioned.

A Union Pacific locomotive in eastern Tennessee?  I've seen Norfolk Southern locomotives around Fort Worth.  I wonder if Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern share trains and locomotives.

Speaking of iron horses, here is Union Pacific locomotive 844, the only steam locomotive never to have been retired:

And metal birds, this is B-29 Fifi, the only flyable one of its kind:

Boats:

And cars, such as this 1936 Rolls-Royce 25/30:

I've gotten birds of the feathered kind as well:

Feeling nostalgic today.  This is my last boat taken by a yacht club friend during a sail past.  Whole family is aboard.
