WHAT!? EA is the pinnacle of HATE!

* You people do realize this is just EA defending the crap they're releasing, right?

I got a giggle out of the fact that the blog was written about something totally unrelated to SC2013, yet the comments completely hijacked it to gripe about it. Well played, internet.

    This isn't even about SimCity.

It's about tolerance of cultural and gender differences. Something that's kinda big the in the industry right now y'know? Did any of you actually watch the video?

I know quite well about this issue in this industry. I have spent years listening to my brother yell and scream every racist/sexist/homophobic slur on the planet over his XBox Live headset. It enrages me.

However, in this situation, I had to sit back and laugh at the fact that the people in the comments completely hijacked the point of the post in their conversation. I still laugh at that fact.

Now that this thread has had a chance to marinate in my thoughts a bit, I wonder why raven5ca found the article itself insulting.

The article linked by the original poster had nothing to do with Sim City. It is about cultural and gender tolerance within the gaming community.

Further, your "you guys" comment is better directed at EA rather than us :)

You think EA, after all it has done in the past decade or so to completely defecate on the gaming industry, ruining countless franchises, Sim City being the most recent, cares about "political progressiveness?" In the market system we live in, everything is on the foundation of money.

My political views aside, watch the video. It shows homosexuality as a quality completely based on sex. Don't you feel that the video portrays homosexuality under a negative stereotype, for one? As the obvious homosexual you are, is all you think about in relation to sex? It was unreal seeing this as a promotion for LGBT-anything. Especially 0:39 which looks like a drunken sex party.

For two, it is obvious that EA released this video today under damage control. It is entirely because of this Sim City 5 screw up, that they are desperately, hilariously, attempting to garner whatever reputation they have left by playing into the pro-homosexuality crowd.

The commenters had every right to throw this in EA's face. They (EA) are trying to look all good and liberal to get the edgy Facebook teens to like them with the video, totally reprehensible. Those people would be the only ones who would buy the casualizied heap that is the new so-called Sim-City anyway.

I normally wouldn't post, but I can't handle people like you.

I made no comment as to the quality of the message, just what it was pertaining to. Further, as I have mentioned up-thread, I was laughing at the fact that the majority of the commenters on that article were people griping about the Sim City debacle rather than the actual topic at hand.

I honestly couldn't give two blerps about EA's attempts at progressiveness because I assumed from the get-go that it was a hollow PR stunt. Honestly, I felt that fact was obvious enough to not warrant spelling it out. EA isn't the first corporation (or political party/candidate) to make a shallow attempt at courting the LGBT community, so I am a bit jaded on things like that.

Oh, I re-visited the article and the majority of the comments on it are still people griping about Sim City debacle rather than your [valid] points.

edit: I watched through the entire video again, and I am still baffled as to where the drunken sex parties (or anything like it) are. I see no reference to sex at all. I even scrolled to 0:39 as you allege and it's just some older dude re-stating what he heard on a chat. Sorry Charlie, your credibility is gone.

WHAT!? EA is the pinnacle of HATE!

    * You people do realize this is just EA defending the crap they're releasing, right?

First, EA is a company. Companies, despite what the U.S. Supreme Court thinks, are not people. People are capable of hate. Companies are not. The people leading the company may hate, but hating their customers would be terrible for business, which companies love. In order to be successful, companies must make money. Ultimately, most of the decisions a company makes will be for the benefit of the company, which translates to more profit. So regardless of how much people hate EA and their games, they do not hate you; they love your money.

Second, while I do not know the true feelings of EA and it's management, Full Spectrum has absolutely nothing to do with SimCity or any of EA's other games. I commend EA for speaking out against hate towards the LGBT community, regardless if it is just a PR stunt, and I hope that people like the commenters realize the seriousness of this issue. I don't even understand your argument that this is merely a defense of their games. The only thing this campaign has to do with EA's games is the fact that people say sexist and rude things to others while playing them.

So if everyone goes on Twitter and #H8IsNotAGame about simcity will wright will read it. EA will be directly reading it and so will CNN.

You're missing the point. Regardless of EA's true feelings, this is a important issue, and making comments to EA about SimCity is showing no regard for the fact that it is an issue and EA is speaking out against it, PR stunt or not. Besides, you will most likely get no response from EA about SimCity. What's done is done; they cannot change major aspects of the game now, no matter how much people hate them.

What does Simtropolis think of this...

I personally am disgusted.  Although, H8isnotagame....

I'm disgusted by the fact that people used the comments to rant about SimCity, but not at all surprised.

    MamaLuigi945 is absolutely right.

This is a serious issue, which can cause a lot of pain to lots of people around the world. And what you've done by relating this to a failed game launch has show how insensitive people can be about this issue.
