lol their reasonings are logical so can't really disagree. Nice to see they change their ratings as things go, most game sites keep it once they made their decision and never keep an eye on the game after that.

to a 4.

http://www.polygon.com/game/simcity-2013/2630

It's about time that reviewers started taking into account the architecture of the game as well as the gameplay.

that is a drop!

like they said - EA's decision to remove certain features of the game in order to attempt

to stabilize server performance has resulted in a dramatic change to

the way SimCity is played and, in my experience, has not stabilized the server situation.

The sad thing is that this issues will effect all of us. Sadly the situation is really bad for the franchise...

Awesome, let's hope everyone else follows. This game should stand as the example of the disasters that DRM and corporate greed bring in the gaming industry. If that happens, then SC2013 actually might've done something good.

This must be extremely bad news for EA's PR that many major game review sites are constantly revising their scores for the worse.  It sends a strong message that Origin cannot be condoned if it wants to have more loyal customers.

You'd need a server the size of Minnesota and in violation of Planck time to run everything smoothly...

Whats sad is on a small level, when you get it to work, all the other issues aside, its kinda fun on a staring at an ant farm level from time to time. I spent probably half an hour on turtle speed tonight watching my garbage truck go around and around. (though doing this you will see some boneheaded traffic problems caused by a non-perfect traffic AI and wish to hell theyd make improvements, especially in the left turning logic).

Why not return to Cities XL...?

Indeed. Of course, we could also hope that EA will finally wake up in the grave they've dug themselves Maxis into and remove those unsavory aspects from the game. But hey, who am I kidding? That'll never happen.

I also don't think that one trainwreck of a game, however bad it may be, will be enough to stop corporations from pursuing their destructive, anti-consumer agendas. Heck, when the servers are fixed, those who adore the social knock-off will probably forget all about the trouble and praise the beloved game, and the company who brought it to them. Until they crash again, of course.

It's a shame that the only thing that matters here (metacritic score) isn't lowered. Every reviewer should wait like giantbomb, gamespot and such to actually see how the servers are, without trying to rush their review to be first.

That's the smart thing to do no doubt, but a site gets more publicity if its one of the first sites to review it

I feel sorry for the people who have already purchased SimCity 2013. I will not buy it until it is offered for $30 or less and has more features. Since the servers are having such issues and leaderboards are currently disabled, I might just wait until I can acquire an offline capable copy. --Ocram

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3
