Thank you all for the comments  :thumb: ! I am still far from finishing my commercial set, but I thought I would post here to show everyone that I am working and that soon I will release my props, and to show another neoclassical house I made earlier. Also I don't know if I answered simcoug's comment about diagonals, so my answer is that maybe I will do some, but only in my next project. The historical center of João Pessoa also came to me and I am pretty sure I will do one or two of it's beatifull Sobrados.

Thanks again for the comments :). Skyscraper241, I don't know what you were trying to say, was that a compliment? So here is another try at Brazil's neoclassical archictecture

maybe he is saying that it could be less colourful, or, it is great like that. ^^

Well, let's suppose that he meant "it is great like that" because there's nothing I can do about it, that's one of the main characteristics of latin architecture.

    So here's another picture

actualy there is. When he (I or most people) says that is too colorful is not regarding the fact that it has many colors or unusual colors. It's regarding the saturation level of the colors used.

see this link (in portuguese ehehe) http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satura%C3%A7%C3%A3o

Notice the bars in the middle. like we say, an image is worth a thousand words. ;)

it is usual to see people begining to make buildings with 100% saturation or close, but the game is more fan of mid saturation (on that chart).

I hope this is clear to you. :)

    EDIT:

by the way, this last model is excelent, in all aspects, model, color ect ect ;)

My god you are a speedy BATter. That new facade is of the same high standard as your previous BATs. If you release all these on STEX, then I will have to start a Latin American city. Keep up the good work, mate, you're doing an excellent job.

Okay buddy, after you first commented about saturation on my thread I immediatelly started looking for information about in portuguese, and thanks to you I finally undestood it :thumb: . However, I can lower the saturation of the colors but that would take away the essence of tropical architecture. If you come to Brazil that will be one of the first things you will notice, the colors are so strong and saturated that they hurt the eyes when lightened by the sun. Thanks for the comments amigo!

Thank you again :D ! Well, that's because I'm in vaccation (is that right?) untill the beggining of april! That's why I'm making so many BAT's in such a short time. Maybe I will post one or two new pictures tomorrow

You know what? I think I will post just twom ore pictures to show my recent BAT's. One picture will contain four low wealth houses and the other the same houses after restoration (midlle wealth).

    34299199.png

Oddly enough, I found the low-wealth houses far more attractive, maybe I will export just them, what do you think?

Personally I also prefer the low wealth versions, but it would be fantastic to have the restored, middle wealth version available too.

I love the windows on the low wealth set, they are just...great! I prefer that set also just like you guys. That's a great idea to have both sets, makes me think of Salvador da Bahia, where you have restored houses with lots of color that hurts your eyes and houses that are still in bad conditions in the Pelourinho neighborhood. I respect your point of view but I still think the low wealth set looks too clean.

In any case, maybe you should consider completely modelling a house and export the file so that you can test it in the game and see how the textures are doing, it would be a pity to loose color like Gn_leugim said. What you did in the previous set was a great job, can't wait to see more.

I don't often do suggestions but you might also consider building a church. I mean, a Brazilian town has no soul and no heart if it doesn't have a church!

In any case, I will harass everyone in the Latin American group to vote for you for the next Trixies Awards in the BATting section, you just revived the Latin American city-building! Thank you Maloskero for your contribution to the community! Keep up the good work  :thumb:

Thanks for the comment! I think I will probably make both sets. Glad to see you have become a devoted follower of my thread :thumb:

Thank you very much bastet, this means alot to me, especially from a compatriota :D ! When I made those houses I thought about your example, I had to make visible differences between low and middle wealth, so I made it like that, with colorfull houses contrasting with more pale houses. I will surelly build a church soon, I was thinking in doing the main church of the city of Quipapá - PE, where I've spent my childhood, but I also intend on working with colonial stuff as well (Baroqui churches are very difficult to be made but are extremely gorgeous)

I very much like your work on these; the colors and details are quite wonderful.

One question though: is the recent group rendered in HD? It looks almost as if those are z6.

Actually, it was a compliment. I like the number of details you put into it!

    Thank you very much

Thanks! Yes, those houses were rendered in HD, in SD most of the details simply go missing

Ok, so I just finished another house!

As bastet suggested I used dirtier textures on the low wealth building (the one on the right). Tell me what do you guys think

As you have now stirred a Brazilian vibe in me for a possible new region, I don't suppose you would be in the market to model some favela type slum buildings?

Well favelas are really hard to be made, especially the most famous one's wich were build on hilly areas, but I have to admit that I considered doing some of what we call here as "cortiços", wich are residential areas where a landowner rents small multi-family houses, historically, the "cortiços" gave birth to modern favelas, but in modern days many "cortiços" still exists, especially in middle sized tonws of the countryside.

Here's the definitive re-texture of the low-wealth historical houses I made

In that case, maybe some corticos would be nice. The final textures on the low wealth house facades are great. How are the textures on the renovated middle wealth facades coming on? This could turn into an outstanding Brazilian Mega Pack. Much kudos to you.

Thank you very much :golly: ! Well, I plan on doing one or two more facades, when I finish them I will work on the middle wealth, for now I will focus on those low-wealth houses and get them released by next week

just a note (aside from the looking great buildings ;) )

HD render is best suited for small buildings/props, as it makes bigger files, which makes larger loading times. this kind of buildings are on the threshold I think of what is good idea to to HD or to SD. I know some details would be lost, but that's something we are used too in the game if we think about it ;)
