Does buying the Windows version also get the Mac version?

I'd like to preorder the game now, as Amazon has quite a good deal (£34 for the limited edition (sadly not the deluxe) + beta access). But my main computer is a Mac, so will buying the PC version from Amazon allow me to download the Mac version later when it comes out?

I've heard if you buy the PC version from Origin that entitles you to download the Mac version? Is that true?

Nope, don't think so. The SimCity page on the Origin store says nothing about a Mac version coming with the PC version. Plus, EA wants you to spend as much money as possible, and giving a game away for free essentially on another platform will never happen probably won't happen.

Edit: I was wrong; as Cyclone Boom suggests two posts below, you are in fact entitled to a Mac version if you buy the PC version, and most likely vice versa. Still, why do they keep this information tucked away in a forum?!

I think it might be true, probably best to try contact someone at maxis to see, but I think it will be.

I remember reading that buying a windows version of a game, that also has a mac counterpart will allow you to download that game on mac as well, but I'm not sure if this is correct or not. I haven't been able to try origin on mac yet, but I assume that when you buy a game it will be able to download it on all platforms that it is available for.

Yes, this is true. It does apply if you directly purchase the game through Origin. However, there is doubt if other online retailers (including Amazon) also qualify for the same deal.

Here is official confirmation from the EA Forums:

By the way, the Origin client for Mac has now been released.
