I am glad you "bothered" bringing this link to us, because I didn't know, and I come to ST's forum everyday ever since there were only less than 100 members. Thanks Buddy. ;) mrb

Great post Buttonhead! I've been looking everywhere for anything to read or watch when it comes to this game.

That picture on the manual, can you even build bridges? Haven't seen any game play imagery where there are cities with rivers in it.

There's a couple of interesting things I read in the manual. It looks like you can build small airports right inside your city rather than depend on the big regional one for tourists. I haven't seen that even mentioned before.

I also like the idea of being able to bring in ferries and cruise liners for added tourism. I'll be focusing on Electronics, but for gambling cities, a vibrant seashore might be something to invest in.

A little editing was done here. Yes, this was mentioned a while back in a couple other topics (and there's a news item about it), but was quickly "buried" as they moved on to other things. Feel free to raise any new information about it if relevant. And, of course, let's keep it on topic... ;)

Simcity's Facebook page had a picture of a regional airport which was freaking huge by the looks of it.  It looks like you have to sacrifice a decent chunk of your city if you want it.  Additionally I do believe that having a city with a regional airport in it is a prerequisite for constructing the international airport great work.

What's most dissapointing is the size of the manual and lack of surprises. Looks like what we got in the Beta is pretty much the full monte. Such a limited cheap game, I'll buy it when it's on sale for $20. Maybe after 5 years when enough DLC makes it a $60 game.

You are disappointed with a manual?

Simcity 4 has a short manual that contained no suprises what so ever.

Most games don't even come with printed manuals anymore.

The Beta actually had a lot of stuff locked or missing that we couldn't use to develop our cities beyond 100k.

Yeah. Manuals tend to suck, these days. They certainly aren't as good as they were back in the late 90s. I loved the original Starcraft and Homeworld manuals. Those were books as much as guides to the game.

The decline of manuals and the rise of in-game tutorials went hand-in-hand. Coming generations will never know the odd joy of reading the game manual on the way back from the rental store.

You really seem to be pumped on pumping this game up. I'm disappointing because there's not much to look forward to in 2013, it's not a great game, it might not even be good. Had something been in the manual to sway me to purchase it I would have been happy to see it, there's not.

The manual looked so disappointing.  So many good features have been confirmed to be removed.  I hope that there would be some additions within the next year.

    I'm not pumping it up.

I'm just not subscribing to the die hard Simcity 4 irrational hate for this game.

2013 is a much better simulator and much more dynamic game than Simcity 4 could ever be.

Those who wanted a city builder instead of a simulator are the ones heavily disappointed.

Am I saying the game is great? NO!

I'm saying it will be a good game and is not the monster that certain Simcity 4 fans are making it out to be.

We barely scratched the surface with the beta and there will be  plenty of DLC in the future (well it is the same as getting expansion packs).

Many people forget how bland Simcity 4 was before Maxis allowed modding to the game.

Take the rose tinted modding glasses off and you will see how 2013 compares to Simcity 4 original release (pre Rush Hour).

But who am I to stop haters from hating?

Honestly, I kind of feel sorry for a lot of these people. A lot of them just see "Hrmph, this isn't SimCity 4 volume 2, so obviously it's terrible." And they're making a horrendously large issue out of things I personally feel are basically non-issues. I mean, the game is still going to sell extraordinarily well. I'm still going to buy it, and I'm still going to enjoy it. The only person missing out on anything is the person who just can't get over a few minor little things that they don't like and see all of the things that this new SimCity actually does significantly better.

I personally think the game will be great and am really looking forward to it.

I believe that the topic here is the manual that has been seen at various locations. Whether or not someone likes or dislikes the game is a matter of personal preference and doesn't need to be discussed here. Let's continue with the "manual" topic...

I followed the link and it says that the content was removed by request of EA.  I guess it really was leaked and EA did not want it out there yet.

Yep! Looks like the manual got zapped. I'm glad I had a chance to view it before, but wish I would have downloaded. I'm hoping to be able to play the Beta this weekend, and it would have been nice to have that keyboard shortcut list handy.

Yes it appears the manual is now gone.

I found the manual really informative and interesting. Especially the mention of the simcity store function.

Hopefully I get to use keyboard shortcut list in the upcoming beta test.  :D

buttonhead, if you get into the beta, there should be a keyboard shortcut as part of the online docs.  You can print it out if you want.

Weird, because I remember Ocean Quigley posting a link to the game manual on his twitter account (I can't find the tweet because I'm at school and twitter is blocked)

The manual was downloadable from Scribd, so I'm sure quite a few people still have it.  If anyone can find and share a new link, that would be great!
