SimCity4 Deluxe and Windows 8

I hope I am posting this in the appropriate location. I have Windows 8. Does SC4Deluxe load and function ok in this OS? Are there any tweaks or modification I need to do prior to installing? (I am hitting the return button to start a new paragraph by the way, and the 'return' doesn't work. Is it me?) Ive been offline since 2006! Today is my first day back!!!!! Yay!

I think that your game should work properly. I don't see why it won't work. Install it and you will see.

Yes the SC4Deluxe work out a problem, just be sure to save the game on regular base, after a few hours and windows want to do something it will shut the game.

The reason I know this is because I am run windows 8 in 64 bit

I run SC4 Deluxe with a ton of plugins on both my Win 8 desktop and laptop without any problems at all.

I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8 and Simcity 4 seems to still run smoothly aside from a few CTDs every here and now but thats normal.

I bought a new laptop in the past week (Windows 8, 64-bit) and I haven't had any problems either. But like others have said, always save often. Just last night I lost an hour of work after McAfee decided it was going to restart my computer for updates...

Windows 8's kernel is still a version of Windows NT. I wouldn't worry about it much. Everything that applies to Windows 7 for this game applied to Windows 8. Only the desktop programmers know that this is supposed to be something new.

Great! Thank ALL of you guys! That is assuring enough for me to PLUNGE in and resume where I left off (can you believe in 2006!!!). Long time inbetween.

I have a new set of cds ordered and should be here by Friday so I will be back in business sand reclaim my position as Mayor of Peyton Place, and moonlight as mayor in Stepford Island and New Troy!

Just upgraded to windows 8 & some of my props show up as blue, green, or black boxes when zoomed in close enough. How do I fix this?

Good question and I want to follow this so to take note of the resolution in case I experience this too (in windows 8 os)

They have HD textures. You can only run those lots in hardware rendering mode. Failing that, if you have PEG's brown box replacement, they might be missing dependencies.

Don't forget to update your disk install with the proper EP1 and the update4BAT to get your game to 1,1,640. With this version you need the play disk in the optical drive. It is disk 2.

For the same bucks you could have got the digital download Deluxe version 1,1,641 which comes all patched and runs without a disk in the drive.
