BBC Story.

I feel that these quakes off Central America are becoming more frequent.

Comment?

Just the normal cycle Nonny. As always: disasters happens, there's nothing to do against them, only prevention.

I'm still waiting for the earthquake of every decade.

  • No religious connotation is needed. The old dirt ball is having its usual tidal pains mostly caused by the moon. I don't think there would be any plate shifts if there were no tides. Impossible, of course, because if there were no moon the sun and other planets also cause tides which are slight, but there.

The moon gravity stabilizes the earth rotation axis. Without the moon, the axis moves freely, and the day duration will continuously vary from few hours to long weeks.

This is surely conjecture. Rotation involves inertia, and this kind of rotational change would produce chaos. Do you have any source for such stuff? You must differentiate between rotation and libration.
