First I'll explain this thread:

Some time ago, I got the folowing PM:

bixel, williamluk91, lucsteven, ruxia, fchan, niamo, deadwoods, iyh01, calvinization, 98tlb, shmchan, paulvmontfort, horatius_cheng, kinmulder

Is it likely that we can form a e-community somewhere for Hong Kong simleons and fans of Hong Kong architecture?

I think this would be a great idea since i'm a real HK fan. I'm not sure if it's possible to form a HK community on simtropolis, but i've decided to atleast open this BAT Thread here.

Therefor i seek people who want to Bat HK buildings. there are a couple on the stex already, but we could have much more of these wonderful buildings. If you want to volunteer, just reply to this thread.

Currently on the team are most likely: Bixel and Myself.
Bixel is currently working on the tall residental building the Harbourside and i've done the Lippo Centre.

My current projet is the Pacific Place and i've started the first building today: the Conrad Hotel:

conradhotel1.JPG

That's all for now. So if you are feeling to BAT some HK buildings, just let me know2.gif

HeyHey! I haven't gone to sleep yet since yesterday..but this is my 1st day off from work in awhile, I spent too much time at my friend's house playing Burnout on Xbox, but I'm back home now and I am so excited to kick off the start of the HK Bat Team, that I think I'll just go to work right away and finish up the Harbourside!

I love coffee and buildings.

PS: i don't know if the final building will look like this because this is a GMAX render and i'm making this with 3dsmax so it may be different.

BTW: i put the Conrad hotel next to Rick's ShangriLa Hotel. I won't use it though, it isn't totally accurate and it has to fit in with the rest of the complex.

how do you render it at an angle other than the default isometric one?  that would be very handy as im entering a state competition for renders of designs, i might just well win, and those renders whould definatly help

If i would modify it, i would have to modify the whole main tower, because one side of the real tower is more curved than the other, this model doesn't have that. And i want to make sure everything fits nice and tidy.

@ Scipio: I use 3dsmax for this building, it has a render system of it's own which renders the perspective view2.gif

The entire complex consists of four towers.

    Pacificpic_3.jpg
Two each are connected by the basis. Island Shangri_La with the Conrad and the One Pacific Place with the Marriott.
Will the buildings be released together? In addition the buildings stand at a gradient.
You will thus have something to improvising.

    Nice pic Hong Kong!
paulvmontfort: Yeah that would sooo cool to do the whole complex.

Update on the render for the Harbourside: It has been 12 HOURS in render process and is currently at 56%. Cross your fingers...There were some things I had to leave out because my computer had to think for about 7 min everytime I moved or added something to the model. Nightlighting is Maxis Defualt, so were are tyalking wondow lights not real spot or moni lighting. No additional Lighting has been added...I just didn't have the time or patience at this stage. I am sorry.

Maybe later I might do a REDUX and spend a whole day adding real lights. For now I just want this to render. 6.gif

Did you make those trees? After 2 days my render failed7.giferror 30. I talked with a friend of mine and he asked me to reduce polys and to make sure I use instances instead of copies if I am not make any changes to geometry. So luckily I have an earlier version that I can load up. I will array all 68 floors with instances instead of copies and hopefully that will make a huse difference. BTW my max scene is 57megs. That is huge!
