When EA's SimCity 4 site was taken down, I believe there was a Facebook page created, but I think that is also gone - at least the bookmark I made doesn't function any more. As far as I can tell, the game's EP1 patches are available on the newer site but not the bldgprop files. They are available at SC4Devotion or Zelgadis's site linked to in AcmeSigns post above. For what it's worth...

As Nonny Moose indicates; when you first download the prop pack files they are zipped.  Make sure you have unzipped them and then placed in plugins.

A Nonny Moose, do you leave the Dat files in a folder in Plugins? i.e.       Simcity4/plugins/bldpropsdat1,  or should I put the files themselves in the Plugins folder?

.dat files are part of the game database set.  The others are .sc4lot, .sc4desc, and .sc4model.  A .dat file is a consolidated set of the prior three.  Any and all of these go in your user area plugins folder. <user>\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins.

 

.dll files can also be in plugins, but at the very root of the Plugins folder.

 

.zip files are used to make transmissions faster.  They are moderately compressed archives.  If windows could handle them we should probably use .tar.gz files which are even more compressed.

I did unzip it where it said in the <user>\Documents\SimCity4\Plugins but whenever I use the BSC Cleanitol dependency checker it says that it doesn't exist that it is missing.  It is not the only thing I am missing that I think should be there....

If you can see it with windows explorer, it is there.  Cleanitol is pretty good, but I haven't heard that it is bug free.

To add one more link to this thread, you can also get all official Maxis files here, right on this page. The buildings as props, for example, can be found here. The text on this site is German, but everybody should be able to recognise the names of the downloads, and the Maxis files are international anyway, so it doesn't really matter where you download them from.

You can get the patch at that location on the STEX, but not the building props.

The definitive answer to this thread was given in post #14 left by Ltw in July last year.  I think it's safe to assume the OP has already gotten the files he needed.
