Do you think that this game got the speed up time feature or progress in real time??

If it is progress real time, do you think that other people can come to your city to help speed up construction time?

Which also come to another question is what do you think how the multiplayer construction extension as in during the trailer we see that two mayors team up to build the nuclear reactor?

How long do you think bout the construction time as we see during the e3 trailer as the airport being construction..

Since this game can also play in single player which i think that there would be speed up time then what happen during multiplayer??

What is ur opinion on this ?

well, the fact that you can't go back to previous saves makes me wonder whether you can stop gameplay to do a bunch of laying down of infrastructure...that's a tactic I always used.

i think it will have the speed-up feuture for sure. It wouldn't be simcity without it.

Or any other city simulation game for that matter. Cities XL has it, too. I'd say: Count it in.

...with sped-up time (and we're playing with time in SimCity too, in similar ways) you're more conscious of the flows of the city. - Ocean Quigley

That quote was taken from the latest blog post on the SimCity website. So I would say we can definitely change the speed we want to play at.

There will be options for speeding up time... but like you mentioned it will be interesting to see how that works with regional projects.

I would think it pretty cool to have all nearby cities have to accumulate/contribute certain funds or resources in order to complete phases in the project. So a regional airport might have 3 benchmarks for example, first you would need all the cities to contribute an amount of money. Once every city has contributed, then the 2nd benchmark would require construction workers and architects (certain amounts of educated sims), and then 3rd could be filling all the required jobs. Then you have a fully functional airport.

This would mean that no matter how much or little you play your city, you still depend on other players to fulfill their end of the project requirements. I would also say its safe to assume there will be some type of time requirement. Maybe at least 24 hours for each phase of the project.

You can't really have sped-up time in multiplayer, as it would create a paradox; it's like modeling a function where {x1 = y1 , x1 = y2 ,x1 = y3}. Time is for all intents and purposes a constant dimension.

Just to wrap up this topic... speed up time was officially announced in the latest "sounds" blog from Maxis.

^ In support...

We also change the sound based on the SimSpeed of the game. As the cars go faster and faster we adjust the audio to match what you see, but it remains true to the actual traffic.

It's not the prettiest of all official explanations regarding speed, but I'd say it's a strong hint more than anything else.

Misinterpretation is still a possibility.

Also, the images showing the UI in debug mode clearly had a speed up time button.

Well I would assume time would be sped up, it'll take months for buildings to be built in real-time!

I think this is an interesting question. Given every sim/commodity is being simulated, it's going to be a lot harder for a processor to simulate at a faster speed than when everything was abstracted with statistical overlays in, say, SC4. I would guess that running a glassbox simulation at twice the speed would be roughly equivalent to simulating twice as many agents/whatever at normal speed.

Since the publisher is going to want to market this game towards the slowest processors to maximise its audience, I think fast-forward could be left out of the game in favour of bigger cities. Fast-forward might work for small villages (or supercomputers) - so they might throw in the option - but for most people could turn out to be quite useless. That said, there does seem to be a lot of evidence that fast-forward will be in the game, so I guess I don't know!

One thing is for sure though:

Well I would assume time would be sped up, it'll take months for buildings to be built in real-time!

The simulation of sims in their daily lives won't be synced with the simulation of construction. A sim could well drive past an empty lot to get to work and drive back home to see a giant factory on the same lot. If sims age, they'll probably age at super-accelerated rates too. It sounds unrealistic but it will barely be noticable, because it really doesn't matter how many days are in a year in the sim universe.

Haven't heard anything about increasing the speed beyond 1 SIM minute equaling 1 REAL second. So every 24 minutes is a day. Hmm, wonder how fast things will build because large cities take many years to build in real life.

Sims won't age, they are replaced. For instance if you have a school the residential areas will spawn "regular" children into the houses. If you replace that school with an upgrade ( better ) school, the houses ( on the next day ) will produce "smart" children. Thus making smarter adults, which affects the look of your town. Though, I'm not sure if it affects the home entirely as the jobs available could have some type of income requirement for a house to look better or become bigger. :)
