I have played Sim City 2000, 3000 and 4 and 1 looks awesome, and the new Simcity is going to come out soon. Will It be awesome. Or will every Simcity fan be dead annoyed because EA make it worse than SimAnt.

I have absolutely no idea, but I created this topic so people could say what they think about the new game. BTW, please EA do not make Simcity the new FIFA 13, and quite obviously, that is worse than SimAnt could ever be..................

Well, on the one hand, you have Ocean Quigley and Maxis promising you that they will not create another Societies, and this game will be in the old spirit of SimCity. On the other hand, lots of SimCity fans are skeptical simply because of Societies. Also, Maxis now owned by Electronic Arts, and many believe that being bossed around by a money-driven parent company will lead to cut corners and a ruined game (SimCity 4 suffered from this a little bit).

So there's really no telling at the moment. I think I'm just going to keep closely watching the videos and information they release about GlassBox. So far, it looks promising.

I just found out today that they are working on the new SimCity, I really am hoping that this will be the next step we were all expecting :S So far from what I have seen, it looks pretty good. However, videos can deceive us...

At first I was a bit skeptical after having been let down twice in the past by Sim City Societies and Cities XL, but after reading the blogs by Maxis I have to say I am excited. What I find most promising is that Maxis seems to be really focusing on getting the simulation right which is really where the game makes it or breaks it. I can't wait to hear what they say about the transportation systems and terraforming.

I don't understand why people always bring up Societies and CitiesXL when Maxis had absolutely nothing to do with those games. Will it be good? Glassbox looks incredible but we've barely seen much at all, so lets all grab some popcorn and find out together, k? E3 is right around the corner.

Well with all the wondeful User Given Content available for Simcity 4, Thanks to all the designers and uploaders, thank you thank you!!, the new Simcity has alot to live up to. But I say if we really support city building games and want more to come out, we all need to seriously consider buying it just to support the franchise. It may not be good, cough cough Societies, cough... But if no copies sell, they most certainly wont make another. But there is one good thing to all of those like me that spent $50 on Simcity Societies when it first sold, and also like me, really wasnt impressed by the game, they appear to be paying specific attention to not creating another Societies. And the Glassbox engine so far is a direct upgrade to the style we've become used to in Sim City 4, my only concern is that they might be overreaching with such a very complex engine. Many people are concerned by the very possible 2 km range of a city, where as such a complex design, with so many thousands, upon thousands of individual agents having to be kept track of, on top of the already taxing rendering of thousands of 3D images. Even todays computers will have a hard time creating huge mega regions. But also the complications that will arise from making it exclusively online or even designing it to be mainly an online game. There are many concerns to be discussed but I think Im going to buy the new game, give it an honest chance, and just hope for the best, but definitely let them know if we dont like it. Like Societies... It may or may not work, but if we dont keep trying, there'll be no hope for a new game. But that's just my very humble opinion, I would like to say one thing I enjoy so much about this community is its actually the first place where so many people from so many places in all the world can share ideas, opinons, help each other, and share a wonderful love of architechture. And not once have I ever seen a discussion, comment or forum degrade into racial insults and ignorant thinking. Its very grand!! All of you in the community are just awesome!!!

This criticism seems a bit odd, Maxis created both SC3000 and 4 while owned by EA, and if anything EA would have had more incentive to intervene during the creation of SC3000 (because back then Maxis was in a dire financial situation and had started making a 3D Simcity 3000, which they had to scrap completely due to hardware limitations of the time) but SC3000 turned out great, as did 4. I'll definetly give them the benefit of the doubt, it all looks very good so far.

This game will be better. I don't think Maxis has let us down yet. Although you should worry about EA. This isn't the first time they'd screw up a game. This won't be the last.

I trust Maxis enough that they can make it good. But I don't trust EA because they may say "REMAKE THIS!" Like they did with Spore. Spore was just as good as it was, then EA ruined it.

That said, keep in mind that it was EA that kept Maxis from shooting themselves in the foot back in the late-90s when they were making SC3000. Maxis wanted to go full-3D (which was basically commercial suicide up until now), and EA sensibly talked them out of it, and kept SC4 on orthographic projection. If it weren't for EA, we wouldn't be here.

Everyone is correct, EA have a tendency to ruin things and create bad things anyway. It would be typical for EA to ruin the next generations view on games that don't involve soldiers killing terrorists. Probably because EA are best at making that. I still remember Simcity 1, which was flashy but simple, and was a graphics revolution, Simcity 2000, 3000, and 4 were awesome but 4 had a bit too much Sims content in it. But be careful, Simcity 2013 may be just a cover for some useless Sims Expansion pack.

    o.O:(

WARNING! CIVIC ALERT! EA may screw Sim City! WARNING! CIVIC ALERT!

You should read some of the blog posts at simcity.com, this is obviously not a sims game. The main concern for me is about modding. Modding has kept sc4 alive for 9 years.

Driving around the city was the good part, especially using the UFO to destroy your sim, but blacking out the 'Import More Sims' button when a system file folder for

any of the sim games were not made (AKA. Having the Sims) was just marketing to attract buyers to The Sims.

According to the theme then though the lack of interest by the same seems to have exhausted its goal

Navigating through dozens of sites on games it seems that 70% of opniões are contrary to what is being developed and as only one who cares about the subject spends his time to post the game maybe is good for about 20% (discounting those who will buy and quit soon after)

But certainly many will buy ....

I will never know if this game is going to be good or not, because I won't be able to afford the extra bandwidth, I only have 12GB per month and if I go over that they charge me big time.

How easy would it be to play Sim City all day and forgetting about your limited bandwidth and end up with a $500 bill or more.

Besides I don't like the fact the Origin is going to collect my personal data, it's like someone coming to your house and going through your drawers.

And then there are the servers, will they charge a fee?

So to play this game I would have to pay $90 for the game, extra bandwidth a month and maybe server charges .... and then only to find out they have taken down the servers in a year or so and I can't play at all and the game becomes obsolete.

No thanks, no game is worth that much even if it were a proper Sim City, what this game isn't.
