  • Biff, it seems that part 1-1 and part 1-2 contain the exact same files, could you please check that out, please? I really want the whole SC4 soundtrack! Also very nice job with the rest of the compilation!  :thumb:

I've edited the link; it seems I accidentally posted the same link twice. You should be able to download Part 1-1 now. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Thanks a lot, man!!

In answer to the question in the merged topic, I'm a 80s guy.

Here are the songs in my collection. They evoke a good "city" feel.

Chris Botti - Drive Time (must have, it's smooth jazz)

Bob James - Angela (from the TV show "Taxi")

Starship - We Build This City

Journey - When The Light Go Down In The City

Billy Joel - Uptown Girl

Madness - Our House

Glenn Frey - You Belong To The City (another must have)

Mattafix - Big City Life

and others.

Just wanted to let you know that the link for part 6 (Streets of SimCity music) points to the same file as part 4. If this was intentional, I couldn't find the Streets music in that archive. If you could fix the link that would be awesome, I love the music from this game.

Thanks so much for putting this together!

I think someone just removed all the music from Mediafire. You may want to upload the rest to GoogleDocs as well.

All files were being transferred to my Google Drive account. Makes a better downloading experience for the user. Sorry for the delay, folks, it took a while to upload it all.

Suggest you avoid Google like the plague.

Why do you say this? My only other option for hosting is Dropbox, and I don't want the collection sitting on every computer I install the program on, taking up space.

EDIT: Turns out Part 4 is corrupt. I'll re-package and upload shortly.

All the music's backed up elsewhere, even if it's not packed in RAR files.

How can i get sim city 3000 music for sim city 4? and so that it plays the correct music to suit the situation be it a somber track when in the red or some jazz when things are looking up?

First you have to convert it all to MP3 if it is not.

Then you insert it in the game residency at .../maxis/simcity 4 .../Radio/Stations/Mayor/Music

Then you turn on the custom music switch (press F10 with the game running)

This adds all these tunes to the random selector.  You don't get to choose the tune by mood, alas.

However, if you really want to do that, just load the whole shebang into Windows Media Player instead, set it to loop, then choose your mood tune yourself.  Of course, you have to turn off the music in SC4, but you can keep the sound effects.  Good old F10 again.

Generally speaking I don't play any game music, but keep the SFX.  I play a muzak feed from my cable system.

Thank you Biff for bringing together the music files of SimCity. What a delightful afternoon I've spent downloading and listening to them today. I joined up with SimCity 2000 on a Mac then went on to 3000 and 4 on Windows. Listening to the music brought back memories of happy hours spent building my dream cities.

    You and me both.

I've rehosted the 688(I) Hunter-Killer submarine sim music that I uploaded earlier in the thread to my Google Drive here. Maybe cromabianca will continue his remixes soon? Here's hoping so.

I've decided to take a closer look at my collection after a period of hosting it without really paying much attention to it and the various updates I've given it. Long story short, there's good news and bad news.

I've found my track organization and metadata lacking and am working on an update that will hopefully make this a proper music collection, and I'm going to rewrite that frankly messy opening post too. If we're lucky, I can even cut down on the parts so you don't have as many files to download. This should all take me a month at max, working on and off, and whatever form it takes I'm going to call it Version 3. That's the good news.

The bad news is that the music for Streets of SimCity, 3000, 4, Societies and the reboot (and its expansion) are available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon. I've already mentioned this, but in light of my plans for the collection it's worth taking into consideration again.

The Amazon/iTunes collections for 4 and Societies' music are incomplete, as opposed to my collection. The music from 3000's Unlimited expansion is also not for sale. My question is: do I continue hosting the music that is for sale? I haven't uploaded the reboot's music in the collection, and while I am willing to, I'm not so willing to have it taken down or face legal action due to a perceived breach of copyright no matter what I think of the music's availability. 4's music is freely available in MP3 format in the game's directory, but you need to actually purchase the game in order to access the directory legally.

Of course, it's all on YouTube in more varieties than even I have (and intend to: I'm providing the MIDI files for Classic/2000 and MP3 playbacks of what they sounded like on my default Windows playback, as opposed to 7 playbacks of different soundfonts). Then again, being on YouTube is not a seal of inviolability.

Perhaps a disclaimer stating that this is purely 100% not for profit might help matters, but I am not a lawyer by any means and I'm not sure. I would hope that all parties involved would appreciate the music being made available for free, due to the positive effects that would entail with appreciation of the music and possible sales due to the quality of the music.

    Any suggestions?

By the way, if anyone has the intro music to 3K Unlimited without the other intro movie sounds, that would be really cool.

The idea of the 'not for profit' disclaimer is good.  I think you should try to be as comprehensive as possible, notwithstanding other sales outlets, but you are risking legal action.

I'll probably go the comprehensive route. This IS the 'Comprehensive' music collection, after all.

A little preview of what's to come:

    1373_128788.jpg

And apparently, according to the readme this collection is already on version 4. So either I roll the version numbers back or make this next one Version 6. I'll probably do the former.

All that's left is the SimCity 2000 and originals' music, and I've already assembled some of it. After I finish the rest I just need to finish writing up the information stuff, package and upload it (in ZIP format this time!).

Should be done by early November at the absolute latest. This is shaping up to be a truly worthy version 3.

Still a bit apprehensive about adding the reboot's music, though. I certainly can since I have it all, and the SimCity 4 music was once taken down so it's not the only music that might catch attention, but still.

Don't know if it is worth mentioning, however user Tasty-Turnips on newgrounds.com  did a quick remix of the song "Railroad Rap" from SC2K which you can listen and download.

    http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/136722

I myself also created an extended version of Tasty-Turnip's remix, however I haven't uploaded it anywhere.

It's fine to mention separate remixes here; feel free to upload your own as well.

The revamped music collection is nearly complete, all that needs to be dealt with is the PC & MAC music from SimCity 2000. Which I'm dragging my feet on because it's been a bit of a pain, but I should be done by late in the month or December.

Hello and thank you for this music collection!

I wonder, have you thought of getting the soundtracks from the sister series of SimCity? The Sims series that is.

There's a lot of soundtrack from The Sims (2000) with expansionpacks, The Sims Bustin Out (console game, 2003), The Urbz: Sims in the City (console game, 2005), The Sims 2 (2004) with expansionpacks, The Sims 3 (2009) with expansionpacks and The Sims 4 (2014).

I can provide you with links for the soundtrack from The Sims (2000) with expansionpacks as they can be found here
