Sim City 3000 Resource Center Broken

Hello

I would like to inform you that the Sim City 3000 Resource Center is not working proper anymore and it would be sad it would be just left broken out there...

Since its part of Simtropolis I though it would be ok to report it here. Would be cool if it could be fixed soon.

I'm sorry for bumping, but I think its really sad to see that there is no one caring for the sim city's past...

Also http://www.sc3000.com/sc2000/info/ and http://www.sc4ever.com/knowledge/ are broken, it seem to be related to sc3000.com though.

I know there is not much interest about this information anymore, but since those pages are obviously kept as archive (which I greatly appreciate), it should at least be kept in an accurate state.

I am not aware that Simtropolis has control over those sites. Just because we publish links to them doesn't make them ours.

These sites are controlled by simtropolis, however I don't know what happened to them.

Maybe dirk decided to take them down because the traffic may have been too low, money might be better spent else where. Or the links may have changed when upgrading ST.

Well, I didn't know that, as I said. However, in the maintenance and support game there comes a time when the game isn't worth the candle.

It's too bad that they went offline. I'm sure that Simtropolis wouldn't take them just to shut them down, that's in poor taste. It's just something went broken and it's having to be reported. I'm sure it will be fixed soon.

SC3000.com is down completely, giving now "website suggestions" from my ISP. I'm sure Simtropolis would've announced if it would end SC3000.com as it's still listed below, and I'm sure they wouldn't be callous enough to buy it and kill it.

I don't know that there's alot, but I have on my site the official SC3K Landmarks, etc that EA deleted when they shut the official site down and people are still downloading them

And I've just ordered a SC3K game from my local online store, they are getting it from England, so as long as people can still buy the game then we are going to have SC3K players.

No idea I shall check when it arrives (company says it should be before the end of the month), but the last SC4 game I bought from them also was imported from the UK had UK Traffic Rules, which was great because that's what we use in New Zealand and I can never quite get my head around the traffic driving in the wrong direction

Finally after almost half a year this is getting noticed.

I'm sure those pages would not be take down without announcement (and they are officially hosted by Simtropolis). If you look at the error message that I've posted before there is a very old version of the Simtropolis logo top right and also the slogan.

Something is just broken. And even if there is no need or interest in those pages anymore (which would also mean that they don't really cause any significant traffic), the information there must be saved for the future, otherwise you'll delete the roots of the sim city fanbase. I enjoy playing SC3K as much as SC4.

Does someone know where to report this? I mean it is not like I can simply send dirk a mail and he'll respond immediately... (?). I though reporting it on this board would be sufficient.

Actually, it's not been a year and a half. The site was working late July-ish because I downloaded a map from that site to use the region. It probably went down Early-August-ish. But to fully answer why it's down, we have to wait until Dirk or an admin replies on this thread....

Hey. I know this isn't a great option, but it worked for me. Go to the wayback machine (http://archive.org/index.php), and write either the knowledge tree or the underground url... because the problem with sim city 3000 resource center are the main pages, not the actual articles... hope i helped

Sorry I should have remembered to come back and update the links, I am in the middle of replacing my exchange software and taking the opportunity to add more SimCity 3000 files ... work in progress

 

Once I've finished this I'll be posting some technical information in the forums

 

currently anybody can download files while I working on it, once finished I will be restricting access to the large downloads to registered users only as I don't have unlimited bandwidth, but the smaller files can be downloaded by anyone.
