Well, EA abandoned SimCity (main series) years ago until now, yet the community continued to flourish even before. Chances are it will still only alongside SC5 too.

Keep in mind that this is most likely a fan channel, as the account has no avatar, no partnership banner, and only one video. The trailer is official, but the account... probably not.

It's linked directly from SimCity's Facebook page. I think it's probably official.

I should also add, the account's existed since October, and the video went up on December 9th. I'm skeptical this is real, but stranger things have happened.

This is definitely a planned upsurge in Sim City activity from EA/Maxis. By now anybody who isn't convinced SC5 is coming wins this years stubborn skeptic award.

I've almost always been one of the voices of extreme skepticism every time the "we want SC5" crowd has cried wolf at an EA announcement, or tried to predict that another game (CXL) would end SC4's relevance.

And even I'm convinced that we're looking at a real SC5--that should tell you something.

As I said in the other thread, there are quite a few EA folks involved with SC4 (and presumably, SC5) development who have accounts at ST and SC4D, and more are lurking about. They're well aware of us.

I think after the success of SimCity, SimCity Deluxe and SimCity Deluxe HD from the Apple's AppStore, EA decided to give a second chance to the SimCity series on PC/Mac.

The reason all those things happened in October 2011 is because former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain suggested a 9/9/9 tax plan. EA used that opportunity to sell some SC4... I believe they put it on sale coz of it.

Well, if Maxis has an new engine which their using for SC5 then it's probably been in the pipeline for well over a year. Cain may started a small ripple of enthusiasm for Sim City with his 9/9/9 thing, but I doubt he is the sole reason. Certainly, EA/Maxis seems to have used it as a spring board to get their new Facebook page up without it looking like their preparing to announce something... and it worked to a degree...

If it is an official EA account, it's a bad omen. If EA can screw up a YouTube account, then imagine how they'll screw up the new SimCity - even with Maxis developing it, EA will find a way...

I can't help but be a tad skeptical of the logo at the very end; it's not very professional.

I dream of an SC5 trailer that is mouth watering, and preferably uploaded to the official channel.
