Just came across this on Facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=225496380820004

The test app is called SimCitySocial and is labelled as being by PlayFish and Electronic Arts. No real information is available here but there are rumblings online Here and here and various other places.

So far nothing really appears but..keep an eye out.

Playfish will make another "Looser's miss" with that game and EA will give us a game that hasn't been finished and tested and will need "tons of" updates and patches, etc.......I won't even have a look at this!

It'll take Maxis to make something that's worth the buy.

"SimCity Social" Coming To Facebook?

On today’s CNBC Mad Money, EA’s CEO John Ricitello tells viewers that “in a month from today”, there will be a big time Social Game hitting Facebook “That will be all over the news”. With EA competing against Zynga, one can only imagine that a SimCity Social has been in the works.

Interesting idea, although under its SimCity branded skin, which is sure to attract more than a few fans of the series, will lie the same Facebook game we've been playing for years.

I'm just hoping that the basic SC mechanics will still be intact. And that it will somewhat give us an insight on what's to come in 2013.

I don't mind if they request us for our money, or ask us to advertise the game to our friends. Which shouldn't be surprising for a FB app. It's a business afterall, not a charity.

It is developed by playfish china so I doubt it will be similar to SimCity 2013.

Indeed, these Facebook games are viruses - playing it well requires getting your friends to play it, so they too can be advertized at and made to sink money into it.

This is one reason why I maintain a strict NO APPS policy on Facebook. Anyone sends me a request in anything, I ignore it and block the app.

A "leaked" loading screen:

A rumoured release date for this game is near the end of July 2012.

I also stopped playing Facebook games after a while for several reasons:

1. It's impossible to do anything unless you have a thousand friends that play the same game or are willing to purchase things in the game with actual money.

2. It really annoys your friends if you send them a lot of requests for a game.

3. They take forever to load, at least on my internet connection.

I'm trying out SCSocial, it's on open beta right now.

The usual FB app cliches, but with some nice orchestral background music, and a cut scene of a crashing UFO. o.O

I started playing SimCitySocial and then I placed a park and it told me I had to hire two friends to help run it. Then, I quit.

That is where anyone would draw the line. Heck, hope this never happens in SC2013 (You need two players to build the airport.)

After playing with it for a few minutes, I don't mind it. It is actually more fun than I expected. It has the typical facebook game "add your friends" annoying-ness, but I expected that. I like the placement of houses in SC Social better than Cityville because you place the lot, not a specific house.

Overall it is quite fun, as I play more I will add more to my thoughts.

Here is a screenshot of a moderately successful city by Open Beta Standards. As you can see, my city is second only to its sister city. You can also see that most of my friends used pseudonyms.

As far as facebook games go, its quite good. If you like the kind of city building games that facebook has, like cityvile or what ever else there is, then give it a try, its the best one out there in my opinion.

Its kind of like simcity, yet at the same time kind of like all the other city building facebook games.

If you like facebook games, then go for it, if you don't, your not missing much.

I now have 65 requests to play SimCity Social. No joke.

YUa6Z.jpg

Is there any reason at all why I might consider enabling this Facebook application?

Exactly this is the goal of EA since you can not progress if you do not have cooperation from other players.

But do not be surprised soon you need to buy resources if you want to keep playing because this scheme tired, and who play for amusement in Face will not spend money to keep the game!

I'm playing this epic, awesome Facebook game :P . I can't believe that my life had a meaning without this glorious game  . Now I can spend my time with creativity and courage for the new challenges, like chopping trees and earning items like basket with apples and llama poops  . My goal is to build the biggest city ever made, by making continuously annoying requests to everybody and paying 80 dollars to Electronic Arts for diamonds and llama poops :D .

By the way, this is my city
