I was wondering how I reduce one way road arrows after the NAM is already installed. Do i have to reinstall or is there something I can do in the plugins?

Do I need to remove the folder "network addon mod" before reinstalling or can I just run the installer over top of what I already have?

I don't think I want to completely remove them, just not have arrows every couple of tiles...

    Thanks SimCoug

Don't remove your NAM folder. I tried that, but I forgot I had my NWM and RHW in that folder. Then when I simply re-installed it, the changes didn't seem to go into effect. I'd try removing the NAM core files and then re-installing.

If you ran the installer the first time and did not change the location of any of the original files, you can run the installer again and select the same options plus the Reduce One-Way Arrows option. The files being installed will simply over-write the same files that had been installed the first time, and the Reduce One-Way Arrows file will be added.

Thanks CaptCity! That was the exact answer I was hoping for. I might start using one way roads after I've run the installer again :)

I forgot to add that not only do the file locations need to be the default locations (from the first install), but the folders need to be the original names also. I have a habit of renaming folders depending on what I have in them, so I usually just remove any previous installation before installing a new version - but that's me. If you still have the original names for everything, you should be okay. Just a thought...

What's in a name? If an installer dumps something in on me then no matter how much I dislike it, I keep it anyway. Much less hassle.

What's in a name? Order. ;) In case of the NAM, it's admittedly a rather moot point because even a horrible control freak like me can live with a "Network Addon Mod" folder, but after running a larger number of installers, you may find your plugins folder cluttered to a point where it becomes hard to locate any single item you wish to (re)move or modify in any way. A sub-folder for every team, inside sub-folders for every collection, inside sub-folders for every author, not to forget the occasional misprogrammed installer... not a problem, either, if you're a "just don't touch it and hope nothing breaks" user, but if you have more specific preferences, some kind of organisation matched to your way of thinking can help, and names can be part of such an organisation.

But back to topic: Abracadabraz85, you can also download the Mac version of the NAM - it's a simple ZIP archive. You can use it, well, as an archive or repository that holds all the available files and alternatives, and you can always extract the particuar file(s) that you want to add or use to replace an existing file.

Another suggestion: A "sandbox" plugins folder is never a bad idea. Wanna try something new (for example, a new NAM set-up), but fear screwing something up? Just test it in a sandbox folder (and, preferably, in a sandbox city/region) until you're sure that it works fine. Then move the old NAM out of your plugins into some backup folder (so you can revert to it), and move the new NAM you just tested successfully over to your real plugins folder.

I am probably just as much a control freak as you and I do object to people like Pegasus who want to dump everything into PEGPROD.

As a fellow "control freak," I might have several versions of the same plugin due to testing and/or install options such as texture variations, so I will often append dates or phrases to names so I know what they contain. I then use Start-Up Manager to determine what is loaded for any given game session. Just a thought...

Hmm.... I'm more of a download and hope it works sort of player... I don't think the risk of reinstalling is worth just reducing one way road arrows.... Maybe I'll try it later on but for now I'm being very careful I don't mess anything up..... Thanks for all your input guys/girls.....

Ps - I'm having a wonderful time in Sydney at moment and am feeling very inspired to get into the game, right now, in my hotel room :)

Hope we didn't scare you off with our sidebar discussion of "control freaks"... ;)

If you simply ran the installer for NAM the first time without making any changes, you should be good to run it over the existing folder. You could always make a back up copy of the current NAM folder and replace it without saving the city if things don't work.
