Thanks Jeronij for the link to the CD Teasers (moss covered logs GREAT!).

That man sure knows how to make your mouth water.

Guess what: 200 posts 3 October is a date to remember. I saw it this morning when replying to my own post regarding Georg04 Teapot company. So I immediatelly surfed to Simtropia to have this event in your CJ.16.gif

The pond looks great (although I still do not like the blue colour of the water, it is too blue) but the residential area around it simply 46.gif

    Hello dear Simtropia visitors !!!

You will have to excuse me for the lack of updates those last days. As you know, I have limited time available actually, and I wanted to finish some pending tasks to avoid stress 2.gif.

    jeronij,

Just wanted to unlurk and say great work with the snowcapped CD mod.  If I built cities in mountians, you know I'd be using it... 2.gif  And too, Simtropia looks great- better and better, more fantastic with each update.  You've already blown away SCR with your work in Simtropia.

Your terrains are the most realistic i've seen on the boards. The residential neighborhoods you layed out looks like european neighborhood with all those trees in it. Keep up the good work Jeronij, can't wait to see more! 44.gif

    Jeronij-

Wow.  Gorgeous development, great work.  I have tons of questions, as usual.  By frame:

    7.01
-I love the boat ramps.  Have you published these to the STEX?
-there are little parks along the edges of the pond, are these also your own custom lots or can I find them someplace?  I see lighting poles but wonder how they are powered

    7.05
-not digging your use of palms and cacti, they really don't seem to fit very well with the apparent climate of the region.  Especially not liking the monster palm at the high school...it has to be the tallest palm tree in the history of the planet, as the school is several stories tall and the palm towers over it.
-are the driveways that access the school parking lots your creations?  If so, are they on the STEX or will you share?  I notice you use them fairly extensively and i really like the way they look.
-lots of trees in planters.  Are these part of the tiles you used here or are they individual ploppables?

    7.08
-do the $$$ residential properties come with perimeter fences of did you add those in yourself?

    7.10
-great parking lots features, especially the little roundabouts and squareabouts.  I have to assume these are again your own custom creations, along with the access driveways into the parking lots and connecting them, also.  You really should think about putting together a package of parking lots stuff (and if you already have, forgive my ignorance).

    7.11
-so many trees on the $$$ residential lots! do these develope naturally in the game or did you add them?

Thank you so much for the work you and CD did on the snow mod...I will be downloading it this evening.  I have finally selected a map to start my own CJ on and want to add snow before I begin other work.  I won't be publishing my region as a CJ for a little while yet, as I still have lots of things to figure out.

Keep up the good work, you are inspiring all of us to be better city builders!

I second Idvgers' Comment. this is one fantastic update! The palms and cacti are out of their climate here, I think.

Transitional effects are very very good! looks realistic!

I see lillie pads, but I cannot find the frogs. hehee.

Also like the placement of the Monolith; sweet!(english slang for, cool eyecandy).

Jeronij:  I really do like your work, very pleasing to look at, with one exception.

Being from Arizona, the bright green saguaro cacti just don't cut it.

I love that $$$ residential area around the monolite, it is a nice place for live too,  but I asked about a house to buy in this area, and it is impossible, very expensive for me... 8.gif  I must to resign myself, buying a $ house in the massive residential area that exist between the farms area and the industrial area 34.gif.

Mayor Jeronij, reduce the prices NOW!!!

Nice update. The R$$$ area is very nice. Palm too big, cacti too artificial. So I share the common response.

I notice the same that when building residentials I am a bit... well... a bit... I don't know I just lay some of them and suddenly there is a cliff or some other thing and suddenly what started as a common theme is made in a unique place. I have to sepnd a lot of time behind SC4 to accomplish this and more than once I needed to obliterate a city (thus wasting the work of the last days). C'est la vie.

Thank you for replying to my questions personally earlier, Jeronij! I appreciate that.. I've already downloaded the wonderful new modification to Cycledogg's terrain mod and your cul-de-sac parkings.. They're both going to look wonderful! Unfortunately the mountains in Chaumont are too low to permit snowfall, but there are plenty of other regions that now have it thanks to you! Well done!

As for this latest update, well.. What is there to say other than: I love it! It has a memorial to a long forgotten battle, a beautiful set of suburbs and high wealth houses and an amazing above sealevel pond.. What more could the average CJ commenter want? 9.gif Great job!

    Very nice pond.

And thanks for the two downloads. The Cul-de-Sacs are a nice add-on10.gif But unfortunately my mountains aren't high enough to see any snow.

    Jeronij-

I have downloaded and installed the new snow mod...and I read the read me that stated you could not provide support.  The mod works perfectly, so I am not exactly looking for support, but do have a question or two.  If I am breaking the rules, just ignore me and forgive me, please?

Several folks have commented on the fact that the elevations of thier regions are too low to be able to use yours and CD's new mod.  I am in the same boat.  My region is actually very mountainous, but is also very far north in longitude (Alaska), so snow would occur regularely at lower elevations than it would at regions further south.  However, the terrain of my region is strongly eroded by millenia of snow and ice and water, so while it's still very mountainous, the mountains don't have the elevation required to show snow when using the new mod.

I have read the tutorials about creating your own mods and know there must be some kind of control within the new snow mod that tells the game at what elevation snow should appear.  My question is, is there a way for us users of this mod to set that elevation indvidually?  I am still trying to figure out many things about custom content, so if this seems like a dumb question, please excuse.  I have, I think, the basic tools for creating mods but don't now yet how to use them.  If I use iLive's Reader to open the new snow mod, is there a line I can change to a different value to create snow at lower elevations?

Appreciate your help, if you have time.  If not, I'll probably figure it out eventually, so don't stress.

    Lora,

Did you try to increase the altitude of the landscape yourself first?
Go to GOD mode (by holding down the CTRL+SHIFT+ALT button and hitting the Star button).
If you have build a city already then elevating the landscape might destroy parts of it so you might want to take this carefully.

If that is not possible (or you do not want it as you like the way your map is at it is now, then you have to wait for the answer of Jeronij or check Cycledogs thread here at STEX: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=62911&pageNo=4

    Good luck.31.gif
