Well, Cities Skylines has the same recommended specs than GTA V.

Both recommend a i5 3470 with 3,2 Ghz, a 2GB graphicscard and 8GB RAM.

Cities Skylines runs perfectly fine with 50 FPS on full settings.

My System:

Win 7 sp1

Pentium i5 3470 with 3, 2 Ghz and Turboboost with 3, 6 Ghz

8GB RAM

AMD 7770 HD by MSI

I guess the reason why C SK is running smooth because i have a small screen with a resolution of 1366x768

i saw an article today where rockstar claims the game runs at 60fps in 1080p with a gtx 660 which is al things considered not a powerful card by pc gaming standard.

if it's true it will prove that:

- when the dev knows to code and don't do some retarded quick port (l'm looking at you ac unity) you can have a mind blowingly beautiful game running at a mindblowing framerate on pc even when you don't have the last-gen top level GPU

- "next-gen" console are worth crap in term of actual power compared even to a middle range pc if the devs devote enough resources to not make a crappy port.

i still think it's too good to be true, but come on, this kind of graphics @60 fps and with lightning fast load times when using an ssd instead of a crappy hhd on console, it "may" even be worth having waited for so long to get it...well almost. :)

Well it is 65GB isnt it :P

I guess its time for games to upgrade to blu ray.

I think the pc community will skip blu ray and go straight to download.

EDIT: oh the joy my copy has left the store today and is on the way to the place where I'll lose all real life contact once it's been shipped...

Well, this actually sounds not that bad.Besides that,i still can change the settings to make the game run more fluent like reducing detail deepness (at a 1km distance you can`t distinguish a shrub from a mountain lion either) and instead turn on more cars option.I always felt like in GTA V on PS 3 there are way too few cars on the road.

In GTA IV on my PC,the streets are sometimes crowded at certain times and areas (especially on bridges...very bad for a smooth getaway.)

I wonder if GTA V PC will already include all the car/weapons/accesoires DLC the console versions have.I`m a car nut and there were many cars in GTA V which i really liked, especially the older or weird ones (i don`t care that much for superbikes or sortscars)

R* said it'll include everything released until now. I wonder if the CE content carries over from the consoles since there's no dedicated CE for the PC release and I want my CE content!

EDIT: as expected, received my copy today. yay

EDIT2: R* must be effin kidding me. for now almost 18h(!!!) I am stuck at downloading the day one patch of about 5gb because, IF there's any download happening, it's at well beyond 50kb/s. u serious R*???

that's strange, i only downloaded a 400MB patch this morning, and it took less than a minute @10-30MB/s, but then it took some times to patch the real data.

i saw some article saying that the installer needed another 60GB during installation, and having low space would severely reduce the install speed. since the game is on a new 900GB ssd, i had no problem but maybe that's what is happening to you.

also, my stuff from the special edition seems to be available on my solo save, so yeah!

and it runs very well in 1080p on a 4 years old pc with an updated GPU (760 gtx) which was not even meeting the minimal specs for ac unity according to the geforce experience...

Ha! Welcome to the club. I bought the box retail.  7 disks down, a small update after that and then an endless cycling to a "code 10" on the Social Club interface.  What a joke. I understand wanting to protect your property but this is once again (reminds me of SC2013) publishers simply executing a launch very poorly.  Technology advances but even 50 years from now this crap will probably still be taking place.  I love pc gaming but as it becomes more complex it seems the problems and costs are beginning to outweigh the gains for me. So now I sit here wondering when I will even be able to launch the game and determine whether the misery was even worth it. No dice. If consoles continue to advance I could see the end of pc gaming for me; the headaches just aren't worth it.

Its not like they executed the initial console launch that much better. Once they added the online component it didn't work for weeks either, because all the servers were overloaded. And I have trouble with the social club aspect in the single player well beyond that (the online stock market and taking pictures on the mobile phone was still not reliably working when I played it a few months ago). Not to mention all the stuff you had to install on the console HDD as well.

To each: his own.  I wasn't comparing the misery of launch from pc to console.  Hope things are working better for you.

the interwebz is full of ppl complaining about terribly slow download speeds for both the preload version and the retail patch. Plus the updater issues.

Anyways, after a combined 26h(!!) I was finally thru installation. couldn't fire up the game tho since I was at work and remote desktop gaming is a thing of the future.

And since weather yesterday and today was way too good to be indoors I only kicked a few minutes here in there.

Totally worth the wait.

my first impression after finishing the introduction and getting to roam LS, the change in visuals from PS3 to PC feels - at least to me - about as dramatic as it was from san andreas to gta 4..

Ok, granted, the game bugged out on me right in the introduction as I suddenly was teleported outside above the map and I've already spotted a few flickering textures here and there, but on the bottom line I'm impressed.

and lagless gaming at max details and full hd really works for me. at least in story mode. a short trip around town in online was a bit bumpy in a funny way as I was semi-warping around... maybe server load idk

Now weather gonna be boo tomorrow so after a can of rest once my graveyard shift is over I'll dig deeper into the game  :D

I've spent most of the last 24 hours trying to figure out which of the asset files is corrupt. Game crashes whenever I near either of the two south level crossings on Roy Lowenstein Blvd.

Of course Rockstar's downloader doesn't have a file validator.

At this rate, OpenIV will have been updated to open GTAV PC files before I figure out which file is corrupt.

65 GB is too much for my system to handle at the moment. I only have 28 GB out of 112 GB available. However, I'm having an IT guy replace my hard drive with a larger one and max out my Surface. Really hoping to get this game.

I have been playing it now on pc for days. Pretty cool game. Not perfect though. A little periodic graphic stuttering for me. If they release a few DLC packs for story mode single-player down the road and clean-up most of the graphical issues I put it right up there with SC4 for my fav pc games ever.  They just released an update (1.01) but I am waiting till the dust settles since some folks are declaring performance loss after such.  Please keep us posted on when you get it and play it!

latest nvidia drivers fixed the flickering issue for me (and probably most other ppl playing on nvidia)

something that bothers me tho is that I have a feeling that with every new startup of the game, it gets laggier.

at first play even before patch 1.01, I threw all the maximum details into the game and was fluent 99% of the times.

2nd play, it was a bit laggy so I toned down a bit til it ran smooth again.

same issue on 3rd so again, a little reduction in quality.

trend continued the 4th 5th 6th time and so on.

It seems for now that I'm pretty much settled after the 7th time playing. yet it makes me wonder what'll happen in, say, 4 weeks, when this weird trend continues?

I've actually never ever ran into something like this.

in other news: a famous instagram theme recreated (and I don't exclude myself from this):

Sounds similar to what happened with Skyrim. In that case it was because they messed up the way the save system worked, which got bloated the more you played. Maybe thats the case here as well?

I've found that every time I start the game it lets me get away with increasing the settings more and more. Average FPS is around 60 on my 4 year old Graphics Card, though when the stutter hits, it hits hard. 2-5FPS for about 15 seconds, then it's back to 60 like nothing ever happened.

I think the main problem is the game isn't efficient enough with its GRAM. Old GCs have more than enough power to run it, but not enough GRAM.

The launcher's made of absolute suck too.

recent patch fixed a bit of my reducing performance issues.

also, I force vsync via nvidia inpsector instead of ingame which also contributes to better fps.

oh and a global trick to improve on the performance is to use task manager to set the game to high priority and the launcher to low priority. killing the launcher made the game unstable for me so I wouldn't root for this method.

maybe I throw in a bit more details now that the game runs perfectly fine again just to see whats what. so far I've only reduced samplings and anti aliasing settings so I guess nothing much would change. not a fan of "too smooth" edges anyway. tends to get blurry rather than smooth imho

still don't regret having bought the pc version on top of my ps3 title. with all the better shaders and lighting and of course better quaility models and higher environment details, especially in first persion view, this game feels so damn alive...

a bit disappointed by the population density. even tho I got it maxed it still feels a bit empty. in fact, my guts tell me liberty city in iv had a much denser population on max settings...

I play SP offline only and this game loses 3 stars right off the bat from me simply for the hideous bugs.  So 7/10.  Sometimes it feels like I am in a maze of bugs, do something new; encounter a previously unknown bug.  I reached the Merryweather Heist and switched characters several times, saved via cellphone, and when it was all done (Merry and Blitz heists) I switched backed to the character I mainly play (Franklin) and the saved and customized cars at the safehouse and garage where gone. Checked everywhere.  Plus the absurd way the game manages your cars as you park them, walk around, and engage in the city, is a mess. If the car leaves your sight for a moment---it's gone. Lately, I have been experiencing this, only to find they're not at impound either---and it's empty. Then there was the weird absence of payment from the cab co. for a while, and the ridiculous stretch of Merry and Blitz heists, stealing cars only to receive no cash payouts for completing such.  This game has potential, but I don't trust Rockstar at all to make it even close to what it can be.  Let alone address some of these nearly game-killing bugs.  If it wasn't for reading the workaround from a fellow player on a forum I would've been stuck at the Blitz Heist because of the ridiculous hand-thrown-explosive-while-on-foot bug that freezes the cut scene at the end of it.  Poor execution of this game thus far.

Great game, great story. Just finished it on the PS4. I loved that they included the random events element that made Red Dead so awesome.

Seems the pc version has some issues, wich is not uncommon for a new release... Until these are fixed, only start mission with the character's default car (or Franklins bike) or a random unmodified car. If you leave your default car behind, it's location will be marked on your map - venture to far and it will teleport to the safehouse, if so just grab someone else's car. Buying cars at legenarymotorsport is only for those too lazy too go look for them. I once noticed a Hotknife not far away from the safehouse I started from.  And turn off the autosave, save via the beds instead.

btw, if you only play one character you're going to dry up for missions.

It's the usual compromise between improving graphics and adding world content, without stalling the system. But Los Santos is supposed to be a smaller city than Liberty City anyway, isnt that so?

Yeah I jump back and forth between characters when playing missions but prefer when I'm not to play Franklin. I'm closing in on the halfway mark (mission-wise) of the game.  Sure you can steal a car for just about everything you do, but there are already a limited number of venues to spend your money in SP so I really find it a novel experience to purchase several of my own and upgrade them. Personally, I don't think any of the characters should have default cars; if you can't figure out that you need to steal a car to move around you probably shouldn't be playing the game.

stealing cars is so much more rewarding in the pc version (and afaik on xb1 and ps4) because there's also tuned cars roaming the streets and even cars that are unique in the ps3/360 version. yesterday for example I smashed so hard into a tuned turismo that was leaving ls customs on popular street under the olympic freeway...

what I dislike tho is how you can't access the dlc vehicles from the garage anymore. also seems to be missing some cars, but maybe that's due to my game progress, just shy of 50% cuz I didn't have much time lately

EDIT: and I don't like how the cars sound. feels totally different from what I'm used to from the ps3 and I feel some cars sound as if their soundfiles was the lowest quality mp3 available...

Considering that the news was posted only three days ago, no newssite has picked up the story yet and the fact that this thread has been more or less dormant lately....I don't find it that hard to believe

Anyway, it seems to only be some new vehicles for the Online part-only. Nothing big...

I already got a new fav vehicle. the osiris. for the sake of damn good sounding (and for that matter probably good smelling) exhaust exhausts.

altho I gotta say the pop n burble the sterling creates is real candy (to me at least who loves popcorn)

Then again, you are a bit weird.

Jokes aside, I don't quite agree with you. The Stirling, without those horrible foglights and the dreaded spare tire on the trunk, is my absolute favorite of the pack. Quite possibly my favorite DLC car too, only challenged by Alpha and Casco. My all-time favorite in GTA V, however, remains the Stinger GT. :)

The Osiris looks decent, yes. I was excited to see the Pagani Huayra in GTA V.

At first I was skeptical towards it having the front of a LaFerrari, but it seems to work pretty well. And I like the gullwing doors. :)

The Stirling sounds fabulous. I could just drive around for days to hear that excess gas being spat out. Oh yes, and it has gullwing doors. :ohyes:

The Windsor looks good in front, dreary in the back, and plain weiird from the side. It isn't particularily fast, fun or good sounding either. It's just there to look pompous.

Albany Virgo. Hmm. While I like it, it seems more than a little out of place in this update. A low rider among priceless showmobiles? It's a nice car though. :)

Then there's the plane and the chopper. Both useless, but I want them. This is what it must be like to be an oil sheikh in the UAE.
