ever wondered what it'll be like to hit the roads gta-style?

keep your eyes open for this one:

real-life-bravado-banshee-front.jpg

R*, in association with WCC, created this one of a kind Bravado Banshee (obv. based on a Viper) and they gonna give it a way. probably only to legal us citizens but still an awesome campaign.

personally I always wondered why nobody tried to mod a car to the looks of a gta vehicle as I had this idea with SA's Super GT... but yeah guess R* stole my idea out of my head... sort of

plus R* updated the homepage again, added Local Artisans, Exclusive Country Clubs and Serenity & Wellness :thumb:

I noticed this in the Los Santos Country Club section. Looks like the Cognoscenti as a grand touring car. I think it looks like the car I'll drive the most as Michael! :D

aaaand we gonna get an "official trailer" un thursday.

whatever that means... like the other trailers have been fake or what? lol

can't wait to see what they wanna show us this time. hopefully some more of the plot / characters

EDIT: speaking of GTA in general I just stumbled over a funny thing, coincidence, intentional, whatever:

San Andreas starts with the ever-so-famous words of CJ: after five years on the east coast, it was time to go home.

IV came in 2008, V comes in 2013

    do the maths

EDIT2: short heads up, stay tuned for the official trainer 11am eastcoast time today

    I just hope GTA V surpass GTA:SA.

Isn't it rather obvious that GTA V will be better than San Andreas? The SA nostalgia is great and all but I honestly prefer IV over San Andreas. Yes San Andreas has loads more content than IV but IV wasn't a step back. It was a step forward. The RAGE engine was new and the level of detail impressed me in IV. The story was honestly one of the best stories in the GTA series even if there were a lot of "basic" missions. GTA V is looking pretty exciting and I find it almost impossible that it won't pass SA unless the story ends up being utterly stupid.

BTW: GTA V hands-on previews came out today and they were very satisfying. One thing that caught my eye is how the cars handle. IGN UK says that the handling is clearly different from IV but the cars still feel unique and are not too superficial/light. The reviewer reported that he could weave an Infernus in and out of traffic on an 18 wheeler filled freeway heading into Los Santos -- likely I-2. He also drove a Picador and noticed that you could "through it around" but it of course wasn't as grippy as the AWD Infernus and you could definitely feel the weight and that is a good thing. He also noted that the bikes have more believable weight too. It sounds like the sense of speed was improved as well.

Lastly one gaming magazine sight stated that there were 97 cars/4x4's but the Vehicle Database on GTAF begs to differ. The same website said that Billy from The Lost and The Damned is in but that definitely is not right as ***[

] Billy was killed by Johnny in the Alderney State Correctional Facility [

]*** and we all know GTA V is set in modern times.

at IGTA5.com we've identified over 150 vehicles total, so the 97 cars can't be that off actually.

Also, in terms of content, IV was a huge step-back compared to San Andreas.

While I loved the satyric approach in San Andreas and the over the top sexual allusions I try to ignore them, but let's be said these parts got totally lost in IV (with roman being a blatant try to keep a bit of it up) as it was a much more serious/realistic approach.

The main story aswell as the side missions were repetitive and - to me - more predictable than San Andreas'

Also, San Andreas took much more inspiration from real-life events than IV did. there's basically just 2 real-life events that pop up in IV, terrorists and election campaigns, both roughly matching the timeline (post-9/11 NYC/USA and 09 campaigns). on the other hand, gang warfare, racist cops, the late 80s early 90s rags to riches boom, another high of the alien-hype round Area 51, another casino boom in Vegas plus the mafia, the cold war after the fall of the iron curtain,... you name it the game got it somehow. the whole storyline was on a much bigger scale than IV.

of course, IV scetched the characters much better than San Andreas did it, but the huge downsizing in content both on and off storyline didn't match up to the increased character design and therefore dramatically reduced it's replay value.

Plus everything you do storywise loses it's value once you get your hands on your target, nothing seems to have mattered in the first place, it's all about revenge. overall, the story was bottom down as pale as the city and me, I found it hard to relate to Nico, Johnny and Luis.

Many people, incl me, also think of the lack of backdrop as a bad idea. Cities rarely are isolated islands, especially not those depicted. San Andreas fixed this, but IV got back to it.

Speaking of the city, I don't need to go through graphics. it's obvious. the step from SA to IV was as huge as the step from II to III. period. and also very athmospheric, the over all greyish fall scenery underlines the story.

since I compared IV to III, that's the best you can do actually. III was as much an experiment in visuals as IV was. and just like III changed the benchmark for GTA's visuals, VC and SA brought little increase in visuals (a higher poly-count and better textures yes, but the engine didn't change much, only remarkable improvement was the seemless landscape in SA) but an effin huge increase in content.

Same with IV. RAGE was a blessing to the eyes but that's it about the game. the content came with TLAD and TBOGT.

With V, it seems like R* learned from the "mistakes" (in lack of a better term) and figuratively smacks the content round our head. Not just is the amount of sideshows amazing with all the sports and activities, also the main storyline with the 3 intervowen characters and switching between at least gives a huge increase in possibilities for the storytelling part of the game.

The visual improvements are also more prominent. the lighting is much better, the draw depths (especially at night) feels much more authentic due to other LODs and of course the small details are improved over IV.

And in addition, R* took what they learned in landscaping from RDR and applied it to V.

so overall, R* seems to be trying to fix what they didn't get right in the IV series.

But I'm not sure whether it'll surpass San Andreas or not. San Andreas is, so far, the climax of the series in every aspect except graphics and the nostalgia is there for the best of reasons (just like our sc4-nostalgia). But graphics are always a bit of a slippery ground. No matter how breathtaking your todays graphics are, they won't compare to tomorrows graphics. Even gameplay experience isn't solid ground either, thinking of todays motion capture and tomorrows Oculus Rift and Virtuix Omni (which both are coming at the moment but to me are a thing of tomorrows gaming still as their not market-ready enough imho) compared to gamepad and mouse/keyboard.

What I'm sure of is that V will definitely come to par with San Andreas so between these 2 games, there won't be room for "either... or" like there was between SA and IV (either good game or good looking game).

oh well and all that judging from nothing but press releases. but it's honestly hard to believe that the personal hands-on (aka release) would prove that wrong... just 2 more weeks... unbelievable

No. I have different views about it. Yea sure GTA V looks awesome with all those stuffs and hype. But hype is nothing but hype. The hype that we have right now is the same hype what we had back before the release of GTA IV. And looks what happened, lots of player got disappointed. I had fun playing GTA IV, the scenery, the missions, the story but I find the game hollow. Unlike GTA SA that there's an urge that can make you repeat the game all over again.

I don't really care what the critics/reviewer thinks or saying about the game. They can say those stuffs if they want but what matter is the gamer's opinion and mine. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited but I don't really judge the game by its trailer and pictures. I'll only start judging once I get my hands on it. So for the last time, LETS HOPE IT IS SO GOOD.

you keep forgetting one thing tho: already half a year ago, we knew more about V than we did about IV even on it's release day.

The IV hype was probably 90% driven by the expectations we had judging the game by what we got with San Andreas. Looking back at it, we didn't now s... about IV until it was finally released. We knew who the protag was, what his main story-frame dictated, a handfull of characters we met and, of course, the setting and what it'll look like. period.

Thinking of all the little and small details we know about V, I guess the hype isn't too off. at least by far not as off as it was around IV. No doubt there's on or the other point at which we expect more than the game has to offer, but on he bottom line I guess the game can live up to the hype. pretty well in fact.

brady games or whatever their name is, the guys that make the walkthrough book, well, their version of the map leaked through. of course that is not the "real" map as in it's is Rockstar's map, but since it's the game guide's map I guess one could say things are getting serious... uhm... yes, not the official map but the actual map. guess R* pulls up to par the next few days:

certainly amazing to see the scale down left. pretty. damn.big.map.

but, even more amazing to see is how damn close the best fanmaps are to the actual map:

I've seen several driving videos and I'm iffy about the physics. Going to be honest, the physics look like crap and the way the cars crash is a downgrade from IV. Maybe my views will change on Tuesday but right now I'm not impressed with this game's physics.

I just hope the driving isn't as ridiculously stupid as it was in sleeping dogs...

the damage model... yeah it's toned down from IV, hard to judge from the videos, but tbh the IV model was a bit over the top. nice physics but at a certain point it was just unrealistic. too much deformation while still being able to drive and such...

well let's see how it looks like hands on
