Yup, indeed. And no, there's no harm in asking - but it's quite pointless really. Some projects you think you'll pull off in a week, but in the end you don't even get around to finishing them at all. Others are started, and in November 2011 everything looks fine for a release in early December 2011, then someone goes AWOL, then he's back but has PC problems, then his PC is alright, but RL hits hard, and all of a sudden it's June 2012. Ooops - ETA missed by 6 times the amount of time that was thought to be left. Stellar accuracy! :P

I'm currently working at a project myself - the second phase was to start by July of this year (that's what I said in April/June) - it became October. If you asked me for a deadline, I'd say sometimes between summer 2012 and winter 2013, or maybe later, or maybe never... *cough*

I perfectly understand the motivation behind the questions, and there is certainly nothing wrong with it, but generally there just is no answer. :uhm:

I do hope that this project continues, though! It's just the kind of stuff I like. :}

This is all fair and good, and see your point on many accounts. However, I'd like to kindly re enforce the fact that I never asked for an ETA. I simply asked what was going on, out of curiosity, much the same way I would ask any of my friends who went to college in another state how their university is doing. I might ask them if there's a chance they'll be in my area any time, and if they say "financially, I don't think that's possible"; I would be perfectly fine with it; and I may have been expecting that answer. If I asked it multiple times, it may annoy them, which seems to be happening here, so I guess I can see what's going on. I just get very curious about things some times, and I'll randomly think of them, and I see no harm in checking back. That being said...

For all I know, folks are tinkering away in Manhattanville doing work that we have never seen, and whenever this project is released our socks will be blown off even farther than they flew during the big reveal a few months ago. Sort of like how Jason released the US Bank Center in Milwaukee, which was not the 1001 Woodward I thought would be his next release, but also made me very happy, partly because it was such a surprise. Or a computer could've crashed and they are trying to sort all of those things out. Or some RL things may have interfered? It's hard to say, but I will refrain from asking any more questions in this thread about updates and allow the creators to work their magic behind the curtains. We know what this group is capable of, and I guess that just got me a bit anxious. :)

Nope, you never asked for an ETA. Ion_Cannon did, so I kinda mixed the impressions from both posts and tried to summarise it all... I'm sorry if you felt like I "accused" you of something you never did. In any case, I didn't mean to come over as snarky or hostile in any way; that little poem was intended to be a bit tongue-in-cheek. Neither did I mean to address anyone of you too directly; it all was more intended as a general remark. :)

One thing I can tell you is that I showed one of the creators of this project some progress shots of mine, and increased the pressure a bit... :P

Hi everyone!

First of all, since I haven't said anything about Manhattanville project in this thread, I would like to thank everyone for support and all the nice words, those are really powerful motivation tools.

Now about the issue, if anyone has experience with things getting lost in translation and intentions being misunderstood in forums, I do. In these cases it's best to stay cool and not get offended easily. We're all supposed to be friends here, and generally what people say is with best possible intentions. Nobody did or said anything wrong here.

The reason why we haven't posted anything in the mean time is because we'd like to surprise you more. Although we don't work with deadlines, it is pretty flattering to see that people didn't forget about this project and to see that you still express interest in it. However, we can not give you a date, because even we don't know it. What we can tell you is that, even tho Project has slowed down due to real life obligations, it's being worked on it. Hopefully, soon enough, we'll have more news for you.

Thank you all.

Some others haven't forgotten this Project although we don't comment here; as we won't get an inmediate result from our comments or our BATting knowledge is more than scarce. But you have to know you've got a bunch of players morally supporting you and checking the STEX day after day to see if something has been released!

T_Wrecks: I wasn't offended at all, I just wanted to clear some things up. Your post had the best intentions, and it didn't come across as snarky or hostile. :)

A big hats off to Vlasky for making such an excellent post as well. It's much appreciated.

It was never my intention to create a bit of a fuss, but due to the original " It's coming soon " I wondered if something had happened, thankfully it hasn't and that wonderful post by Vlasky shows that, if you want to suprise us more, I'm sure it will be worth the wait :)

When I see that red neon sign, I can imagine it being the icon of any neighborhood. I can imagine myself driving down an avenue that passes an the intersection which contains the same corner that building would be on. And I can see myself spotting the sign from blocks away.

I don't think it's too bright, I think it's just right. I feel like the blue sign near the bay door may be attracting too much attention, but I may have no idea what I'm talking about, here. :D I'll say the same thing I said in Seraf's thread, and it's that I trust you to get this done the right way. :golly:

Looking great, like really great.

And it isn't too much glare, some of it will be lost in game anyway, I love it!

Wow, great stuff! I'm just not sure whether the lights inside the bigger buildings aren't perhaps a bit too bright, but I don't really know. As for the neon light, I agree with Yoshiisland.

The angry bird says it all - must be a relief to not have to read "when will it be coming out" for a while. Amazing work by the ABBT team. You indeed deserve congratulation for adding these superb industrials to the STEX.
