400 cities!?!!

Are they just imported cities over and over again??

Because it would take absolutely forever to fill those maps up manually.

160 Gigs of HD space

I checked the region folder after I compiled the map, it was ony 80 or so megs. And for me it took only about 20 minutes to build the terrain.

I wont be making another one of these maps. It took several hours to make the greyscale image.

Thats weird. It took you 20 minutes? I have a much less powerful computer and it took 20 mins as well. It only had a AMD XP200 which runs at 1.667GHz , Only 256mb of RAM (no Idea what the frequency of the FSB is but I'm sure it's alot slower than 533), and my graphics card is a GeForce 4 MX with 64mb of ram.

I heard about someone who has 1922 medium cities (equivalent to 480 and a half large cities) in their region a couple of weeks ago. It takes about 10 minutes for that region to load on their computer. I'll just go and see in the city journals who it is...

EDIT: It's Keatling hills by Mr Cinatit, and I see that he has already mentioned his region in this thread!6.gif14.gif22.gif22.gif21.gif5.gif21.gif21.gif

I don't know, but with 1,922 medium cities at 4 square kilometers a piece, you would have a 7,688 square-kilometer area. You could probably make a 1:1 scale reigon of the state of Conneticut with a reigon that big.

Maybe he is an archeologist. So far, we know the thread is old, and bumped by a lurker. We also know that most of the people that posted in this thread haven't posted in a while.

It always got to be the $%&^!'s that always resurrect very old threads (even though the user who bumped this thread has been here since november).

I only have 140 cities in my region, but there made up of small medium and large. It is on a 96x96 config bitmap. its cool though. Runs perfectly, I dont see any performance differences.

By the way

I am sorry if posting on this thread offended anyone,

However the last post was on < 6/18/2004 > and that means that my post was and is not spam.

It is rather rude and inconsiderate to chastise members when they post a message on a forum, This is after all a site for people that enjoy Sim City 4 / Rush Hour and we should be able to post with out some someone making some uncalled for comment. All that they will accomplish is to push people away from the Hobby.

Ron

Heh, I tried to render a pasted-together version of Lakomiak and Alanuk, and my computer crashed. Twice.

By the way frymon, why dig up this thread to post that?
You trying to get higher post count?
