Very nice... I checked the few pics and a skipped a little text... but from what I understand, it will be released some time in November?  Right?

Keep up the good work... I always found the ground highways too... well built?... for covering the long distances, and the avenues to dark to be credible for inter-city roadways.

the release date will probably be happening as soon as it is about 99-100% perfect (without those darn bugs and just the right texture for the game) with RL going on, i think possibly it will be bewteen 2-8 weeks before it is released, even as a BETA imo

just like to say you're all doing a grand job2.gif

(I hope I'm allowed to tell this... Oh well, I'm a team member after all.)
To stop you wondering, the planned release date for alpha version of RHW is the November 12th. You might not think of it as early, but it's in the first half of the month, anyway. 18.gif I'm sure everyone waits for it eagerly; so do I. After that, it'll probably be quite a long time before it will actually be totally stable and completed. But the whole NAM is still officically in beta stage, so... Well, you know.

I will personally hold an RHW Release Party at my appartment.   I will have Miller Lite, Molson, and Smirnoff on ice with Bud on tap.  Who wants to bring the pizzas?

Hey now . . . . I've already e-mailed these textures to quirlix.  Since I haven't heard back from him lately, I thought I'd post what I did here:

The renderings of the new RHW mod look really good...very close to the typical cross-section of rural Intersatate expressways in the U.S. Will the new RHW mod have ramps and overpasses like the the highways currently in the game?

I assume so, but they'd need to be modified... they'll most probably be done in a similar way to the ordinary elevated highway interchanges (most probably intersecting with the NAM puzzle pieces)

Novemeber 12th? Man that sucks I am leaving at 2:30 in the morning Washington time that Sunday for Missisipi. Darn I am going to have to wait a week in order to try these out. Oh well it will be worth the wait.

I am a fan of the RHWDP, but I must express a small issue. I honestly think that the centre line markings are a bit too big for the road, and I think that 2 lines per til would look much more adequate rather than one big one. Other than that, I can't wait to try them out!

Just my 2 cents worth.

You have a good point about the dashed center-line. It resembles something you would see on the New Jersey Turnpike. For those of you familiar with New Jersey, that state's main toll road has that really long center-line instead of the standard (shorter) dashed line you'd see on other expressways.

For the first shot out of the gate, the rural highway rendering looks good...

Just thought that I'd pop-in before I go away for the week-end 3.gif

As for the centre line : It's typical that higher-speed roadways/ expressways have longer centre lanes, as well as intervaults in-between. Compared to the game, it may seem huge, but is very well scaled, in mu opinion, compared to a car/ auto in the game.

Just because we have quite a few textures already done, all based off of this piece, it is a little late to do any fast changes.

And, on a sidenote, I thought the release date was the 14 November ? Hmm... oh well, I'll just have to work a little faster to do my one or two textures left 18.gif

About the party : let it be in Qu

    Officially...

    - - - - The planned alpha release - - - -
    - - - - of the RHW Mod v0.12 is - - - -
    - - - - Monday, November 14th. - - - -

Zed must've been talking about the team deadline, so, unfortunately, noone, you still have to have them done by Saturday. 2.gif

And good news for all future downloaders, especially those with dial-up (woohoo!), the mod is expected to be 800kb or less.

Will there be a street x RWH intersection where a car will be able to go across the RWH on the street and not have to get on the highway?

(Just like this, only the street goes across the median as well, instead of just ending at either side of the RHW.)

The RHW/street intersection in the game snapshot looks like the intersections you'd typically see in Michigan.

Leech10: Yes, there will...or more appropriately, there is already. And also, a special thin lane tool that lets you still cross the center even if there is a several tile gap.

Well, we need a huge map, some string, and some spring balances, as well as the addresses of everyone who wants to go to the party, and then we can calculate the geographical center. Hmmmm. Just counting the RHW team, I'm guessing Detroit, Michigan would be most convenient. (Though convenient is a loose term).

    39.gif Hooray!!!  39.gif

Just wondering, will this first release include any intersections, or just the base orthagonal, diagonal, and transition pieces?

At any rate, I can't wait!

EDIT: I guess I should read before I post 43.gif. I guess there will be, so my next question would be, what intersections/interchanges will be included?

That is gonna make for an awesome week. Not only is the mod releasing on the 14th, but so is Nintendo's Wi-Fi connection and the two compatible games. Then, that Friday, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire premieres. I can't wait!  You guys made my week and I haven't even lived it yet! I also have a question, when transitioning between Avenues and Elevated Highway, they do it directly. With the RHW mod, will the RHW directly transition to Elevated highway or will you have to transition to Ground Highway then to Elevated Highway? Also, how would an Avenue intersect with RHW? That's all for today. 1.gif
