I still say make it baseball however (unless you're up to making both, which I'm sure you'd be fully capable). Preseason NFL games are about as significant as a single hydrogen atom with respect to the entire universe!

I work at Metro Hall, two blocks north of the Skydome. I will take a few pictures from my office window to give your some details that you will not find concerning the roof and northern face. They will hopefully be here in about 10 days. I cannot post them sooner because I will be on vaction for a week.

I can go down to skydome anytime I want to to take pictures. Only thing is I have a pretty slow dialup connection, so I couldn't email too many... unless they were low res

I'm so glad that someone is actually making a domed stadium for the game. I will gladly download it, but I would really love it if someone created the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, one of the largest domed stadiums of its kind in the world and my most favorite of them.

That's some good progress there, can't wait to see this on the STEX eventually!

 

Possibly of interest, in a month I will be in Toronto for a Jays-Yankees game.  I'll be happy to take any field-level pictures you might want, I think the seats are somewhere around the 3rd base-side foul pole.

That looks great right now. I think there needs to be some more truss work visible on the inside of the open dome though... most of the structural stuff is right out in the open.

 

Here's a pic of the east side for you:

 

 

The structure at the bottom wraps around to the right and connects to the CN Tower and the Convention Centre... I don't suppose you will be modelling all that though.

 

Also, streetlevel is at a lower grade on the south side than the north side; there are some tricky bits along the east and west faces with staircases that might be hard to incorporate...

it is much closer to being completed, but i am missing one critical picture.  I have looked everywhere and can not fin one that shows the detail outlined in red.

I can't help you with the red area, but it's improving. This will certainly be one of the better stadiums when it's done. Little too soon for me to comment on textures or the field.

not sure, it is still much too far from completion to say.  I say about one month till the model is done.  Quite honestly, I am not used to Batting this kind of building.  The amount of detail involved with getting every part to look right is astounding.  And after the building is done, i have some really cool ideas for things in game.  Hopefully I will be able to get someone to help make animations, which will involve several renders of the roof.  Luckily, night lights for this are going to be relatively straightforward.

Dont worry though, it will more than worth the wait.

 

On another note, i am missing pictures of the north side.  I assume that from the lack of pictures, that it is blank.  I do know that the sculpture audience is on that side.

Looks good! A few things I'd like to point out though:

 

The sides are not completely accurate; take a close look at this picture:

As you can see, the vertical concrete columns in front of the glass actually are extended perpendicular from the glass to be flush with the wall itself. Also, there are only 5 bays of windows on the curved part as opposed to the six you modelled. Also, the middle section of class actually isn't curved at all, and is flush with the wall. Then, of course, there are other bays of windows and ventilation on the sides.

 

For the niteliting what colour scheme are you using? Right now they light the top of the dome with purple spotlights, but I've seen it in green also

The picture I took showed the incomplete version, i was still working on it at the time.  I have since noticed those points, and fixed all of them by now.  I will post a picture later today.  The only wall that is lacking now is the north wall.  Every other side has at least an accurate draft now. 

Another thought.  The Audience would be a very difficult piece of the building to do, and it would add greatly to render time and still wouldnt be very detailed.  Humanoid figures take thousands of polys to mimic, but still dont show up well in a BAT render.  I want to take a poll on the importance of including this particular art.  Right now, I am weary of attempting to replicate it and add it to the building, but could be convinced otherwise.  My reasons against are render time, the fact that it wouldnt show up well anyway, and quite honestly, I think that the peice itself looks slightly odd, escpecially on this particular structure.

If I were doing the modeling, I would just try to fake in the sculpture using boxes and extruded splines, maybe in layers.  Just something to give the rough appearance of texture.  And then maybe tweak it with an edit mesh.  That's essentially what I did with the lions on my Niagara Square BAT, and it came out more than well enough for appearance in the game.

hmm.  interesting idea.  well any way, while i work on the rear, ponder this update.

There comes a point in the process for every BAT when it begins to very closely resmble the original.  it took me a second to find because I skipped over it TWICE thinking it was a photograph from the thumbnails and i forgot what i saved it as.
